Which Replacement Converter Section for Magnetek 6345
Updated 05/23/2026 | Published 05/19/2026 >
Question:
I currently have an aging B+W Power converter 6345. I believe it is also under the Magnetics brand. It looks like the Progressive Dynamics PD4645 will work. My question is, would the more powerful PD4655 work OK. It seems to have the same dimensions. Will the DC board work as well. They look the same. I believe my 45 Amp is marginal at best. Thanks for your input.

Hey Terry, I know it's tempting to go up in amperage when replacing your converter section but the problem is that the wiring of your setup is probably not rated for the additional amperage so you would be going from a super easy and simple replacement with the part # PD4645V to having to go over the wiring and make sure everything could handle the additional amperage. What batteries do you have?

Hi Terry, I purchased and installed my 4600 series in 2023. I have a 19' Forest River travel trailer. The old unit buzzed like a swarm of bees and put off a lot of heat and cooked batteries like it was a chef. This was a snap to install. I am extremely pleased with my unit. I basically keep my trailer plugged into power 24/7, 365. I have had absolutely no trouble with this unit. Keeps the battery charged properly. I rate this unit 10 out of 10. Stephen

I have lead Acid now. I would be using the same fuses on my current setup. That’s what is important. I just wondered if it would fit. It looks like it. Is the dc fuse board the same? I just like to have a little extra if I want To add a circuit later.
