Does Magnetek 6345 Converter Have AGM Chargin Profile

Updated 06/10/2025 | Published 06/08/2025

Question:

Will my 1998 MagneTek Power converter charge AGM marine batteries? Converter is Series 6300 A and Model is 6345. It is a 45 Amp converter. I currently have regular lead acid marine batteries 2 in parallel

Hey Steven, what you have now is not compatible with an AGM battery. This is because AGM batteries require a special charging profile. So what you would need to do is upgrade the lower section of the converter with the part # PD4645V which has an AGM profile and you'd be set! What made you decide to go with an AGM battery setup?

Jameson-My curiosity about AGM batteries for my camper was generated by the fact that I have a 100AH AGM that I have used for other things, and it performs really well, and stays clean. I have had it for 10 years. I have not used it much, but when I charge it the charge holds for a really long time while in storage.

@StevenC That's awesome! Meanwhile I bought a cheap battery from Rural King that fails on me once a year and I take it back up to them and they warranty it for me. Long term probably would have been smarter to get a solid battery like what you have.
