What’s the weight on the adapter?

Welcome back Matthew! The B&W 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # BW23RV weighs 175 lbs, which includes the weight of the included safety chains. This pin box is designed to fit the Curt or Lippert Rhino Box bolt pattern. It works with trailers weighing up to 25,000 lbs.

The B&W item # BW23RV uses a rubber SumoSpring to absorb road shock while also reducing chucking and jarring. It's going to handle those road bumps and bridge transitions before they get transferred to your truck making for a more comfortable ride.

What kind of 5th wheel trailer do you have?

I own a 2025 Artic Wolf 331BH. Trying to decide between the B&W adapter and the Gen-Y gooseneck adapter. Any thoughts? Trying to save as much weight as possible as I’m pushing right to the payload capacity of my 2015 Chevrolet 2500.

@Matthew I really like the new B&W Gooseneck Pin Box item # BW23RV. The SumoSpring cushioning is a twist on the Reese with air bags and the Curt Helux with a spring. Those cushion systems really smooth out the ride but there's a break in period with the Helux and the air bags in the Reese seem to have constant issues the older they get. The B&W item # BW23RV comes out of the box ready to go. The built in SumoSpring is the same type of material used in the suspension options so they're proven to be durable and effective. Weight wise the B&W item # BW23RV is only 4 lbs heavier than the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY33GR with the item # GY49GR safety chains. The Gen-Y is a great option but it works completely different than the B&W with the torsion rubber flex system. Plus it's got a 1,000 mile break in period.

@JerredH Ok, so one last question before I move forward with a purchase. I installed the B&W under bed turnover gooseball in my 2015 Chevrolet 6.75’ bed. Currently I’m using B&W slider fifth wheel hitch. Is there a way to verify what bed side clearance will be if I make the change to the gooseneck pin box. I know I’ll lose some cab clearance to the nose of the trailer but I’m also concerned about the bedside clearance. Thanks for all your help! It’s greatly appreciated!

@MatthewH You're welcome! No, I don't have anyway of knowing what bed side clearance you may or may not lose. I can help you with the cab clearance though. Since you have the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch item # BWGNRK1012, you can use the 4" Offset Ball item # BWGNXA4085. This will push the connection point 4" back towards your tailgate.

I have one more request can you help me select an upgraded suspension set-up for my 2025 Artic Wolf 331BH?

@Matthew I would be happy to! We've definitely got a few options depending on how much of an upgrade you're wanting to make. The Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shocks item # RM-2460-2560 would be the top of the line suspension upgrade. It'll replace all of your leaf springs and both equalizers. This kit also includes shocks that work extremely well in absorbing bumps and really smooth out your ride. The MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers item # MR46ZR for 2-1/4" shackles or item # MR76ZR for 3-1/8" shackles are going to be by far the best options for a wet bolt upgrade. These kits come with the bronze bushings, wet bolts and shackle straps. If you keep these lubricated they'll last until you have to replace the leaf springs. To upgrade your 2025 Artic Wolf 331BH's equalizers. I am going to need some information on what equalizers you currently have so we don't mess up the geometry of your suspension. A set like the MORryde Rubber Equalizers item # MR87ZR is going to be the best option if we can match up the sizes. If you scroll down the product page of the MORryde item # MR87ZR, you'll see a diagram. I need the vertical 3-1/4" and the 6-1/2" horizontal measurements off of your current equalizers.
