2017 Toyota Tundra

Just installed this unit on my travel trailer bumper and it appears to be fairly heavy duty and secure. Did have some trouble getting it on the bumper but used my truck tire jack for leverage & it popped right on (see photo). The receiver is just what I need for my bike rack & 2 bikes that I will be hauling to Florida next month. Safety first & this unit looks well made & will hold to the challenges of the road.

After a year & 2 trips to Florida is perfect! No need to tighten the bolts due to vibration & wear & tear from a 45 lb bike rack & 40 lbs of bikes. I am extremely pleased with this receiver!

by:

I still need to install it but the quality looks perfect. I like that with this style you can mount it off-center if you have a spare tire as well on your back bumper I really appreciate the expedited shipping. I always shop from a trailer if I can.

Paint is holding up perfectly and it’s still easy to use. If you install this on a bumper, it’s really recommended that you weld the bumper to strengthen or get some products to help out. The torque on the frame connection will rip off the bumper eventually if not reinforced

by:

The Curt trailer hitch is solid as can be and couldn't have been any easier to install. Product arrived ahead of schedule and George at the erailer is great with email communications . I will be purchasing future products from this company. Great job George at etrailer. happy camping

2016 Jayco Jay Flight SLX Travel Trailer

This receiver fit perfectly and was easy to install. We have our Stow a Way luggage carrier mounted on the back of our little RV trailer.
Tried to download a pic but unsuccessful.

by:

As advertised, fit perfect on the back of my camper, no issues. Always great service from etrailer

by:

Solid hitch. Performs as it should, was easy to install.

by:

Haven't used it yet but I did have one on a previous trailer and it worked great. That is the reason that I purchased it..

by:

Thank you etrailer, I’ve been looking for this bumper receiver for my 38’ Keystone toy hauler for a bike rack. Ordered and four days later it’s here. Installed in 10mins, fits perfectly. I used a flat washer and nylok nuts instead of nuts supplied. Well built and sturdy.

This thing is holding up great. I had a different stile before and it broke driving down the road. Causing my cargo rack to fall off carrying my generator and my bb-qer. But this mount has been amazing

by:

Awesome product. I did have one problem with it but it was on my end. The bumper on my Keystone Summerland Series Mini was a little to close to the body so I had to flip the mount over to make the bolts work. Shipping was fast!!!! 4 days including the day I ordered. Would have been 3 but something happened with UPS. I will definitely be buying more products from etrailer Corporation.

Still holding up great a year later. It easily allows me to carry my cargo receiver which has my generator and a couple five gallon gas cans on the back.

I have a 21.5' Trail-Lite RV that had a plastic bumper. I wanted to put a Bike Rack on the back of the RV, so I bought some 3/16" 4" x 4" square stock and had a welder weld it on the back of the RV. This is a lot heaver duty than a stock bumper. Once the bumper was installed, I bought this Curt bumper hitch, part E-100, from etrailer.com. Installation was a breeze, and only took a few minutes. I used some grease and a small hydraulic jack to encourage the hitch to slide on. You DO NOT need to drill out the holes as some have reported. A 4 pound sledge will encourage the back hitch hole to pop above the 4" bumper. Use some never seize on the threads so it will come apart some day. Here is the finished product, with my e-bike installed. Shipping was quick and FREE! (I ordered over $100 of stuff)

by:

Torqued to spec. and works as expected. We hang a bike rack off of it on the back of a travel trailer. Solid design.

Reason not a 5: There was a slight alignment issue getting the bolts through both sides due to the stampings not being aligned when welded. Once I got the bolts through, no issue, but there was interference with the threads on the stamping; had to turn the bolts through as they would not slip through.
Still would recommend.

by:

Delivered quickly. Haven’t installed it yet and look forward to using this for my Thule Bike rack.

by:

A previous trailer hitch receiver was not adequate for a bike rack with heavy mountain bikes. It developed cracks in the metal. There’s a fair amount of vibration for a bike rack at the back end of a camp trailer. I bought the Curt receiver to mount a 50# Kuat bike rack to carry two +50# e-bikes. So the load is +150# plus the torque of extending almost three feet from the receiver. Worked great. An observer noted the rack and bikes were quite stable.

by:

Thanks to etrailer and Michelle for helping me select the Curt E-100 4" bumper mount cargo reciever hitch. The quick delivery helped us get on our fall trip accordingly. Definatly the right product for this application.

by:

Hitch mount was as info described. Needed to mount a heavy 4 bike rack on my RV. Arrived on time and fit perfectly. etrailer videos were very helpful in selecting the right hitch for my weight requirements. You took the time to make them to support the products, you earned my business because of it.

by:

Wow! Service was personal, quick & complete! Will definitely buy from the folks at etrailer again!

by:

Easy to install and has worked great for a bike rack on the back of our travel trailer.

by:

  • Use of Curt Hitch Stabilizer Strap 18050 on Cedar Creek 5th Wheel Trailer
Curt's Hitch Stabilizer Strap # 18050 is required for use with some of their hitch receivers to support the hitch-mounted load which helps to reduce its motion as you drive. This helps prevent excessive stress on the receiver tube. The various Curt brand hitches suitable for installation on an RV are shown on the linked page. These include bumper-mount hitches like # E-100 and frame-mounted hitches like # 13703. For cases where there is not a handy spot to attach the strap to the RV you...

  • Could the Curt Hitch part # E-100 be Installed Above Trailer Bumper
There's no reason you couldn't install the Curt Hitch part # E-100 with the hitch opening above the bumper that you plan to install the hitch onto. I spoke with my contact at Curt and he confirmed that this would be just fine. We had a customer leave a review for this hitch where he did this for carrying a bike rack and he said it worked very well.

  • Recommendations for Carrying 4 Bikes on Rear of Flagstaff MicroLite XLT
Your concern about the potential liability caused by objects coming off the rear of an RV is a valid one. To determine the carrying capacity of your RV bumper, the RV manufacturer will be your best resource, as I do not have engineering information about bumper capacities on any one given RV. Once the capacity of the bumper is known, you can then make a decision about how much weight you can carry and which rack you should use. The strength of the bumper will depend on its construction...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Bumper of Casita Travel Trailer with Spare Tire
The Surco Spare Tire Bike Rack # BT300 is not recommended for use on the back of a travel trailer. The movement is far greater on the back of a trailer than on the back of a vehicle so many options like the spare tire racks are not compatible. My recommendation for your trailer is to use the Curt RV Bumper 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # E-100 and then the Yakima LongHaul # Y02476 and then use the cable lock like # e98891.

  • Can a Trailer Hitch be Installed on the Back of a Trailer
I am not really sure what you are trying to do but you can install a trailer hitch on the rear of a trailer. There are two different kinds of trailer hitches for trailers, frame mount and bumper mount. The frame mount hitches are much stronger but will require more effort to install whereas bumper mount hitches typically have less of a capacity as they are limited to the bumpers capacity but require less effort to install. Please note that before you install a bumper mount hitch you will...

  • Could RV Bumper Hitch # E-100 Carry 250 lb Cargo Carrier

  • Could the Curt RV Bumper Trailer Hitch Receiver E-100 Tow a Trailer with a Golf Cart
The Curt Hitch part # E-100 can tow a trailer that weighs up to 3,500 lbs. You would need to consider the weight of your trailer when it is loaded to determine if that would be adequate capacity. You also would need to consider the towing capacities of the bumper you would install this on. You would need to contact the manufacturer of the RV that info.

  • Travel Trailer Hitch Recommendations
Only certain bike racks are rated for use behind an RV/trailer. The reason is for that is because they have a much rougher ride present there when compared to a vehicle. You would need to contact Allen with the model of your bike rack to determine if it would be rated for use on a trailer. That we are aware of none of their racks are rated for this. I attached a link to a page that has all of the RV bike racks we offer. For a bumper mounted hitch for your 4 inch bumper I would recommend...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 5th Wheel Trailer to Use with Bike Rack
We have a nice selection of trailer hitch receivers designed specifically for RVs and trailers like your 2017 Cedar Creek Hathaway 5th Wheel. I first recommend looking at the Curt RV Bumper 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver # E-100. If you have a 4 inch square channel bumper on the rear of the trailer, this will work perfectly to provide a 2 inch receiver opening for hitch-mounted accessories like bike racks. If you have a different style bumper or one that is not designed to hold the weight...

  • Trailer Hitch for Travel Trailer that Has Thin Square Bumper not Rated for Hitch
For a bumper as thin as yours I would not recommend the # E-100 for installing a hitch. Instead I would recommend going with a frame mount like the part # 13703 that will fit your trailer as long as your outside to outside frame dimensions are between 22 and 72 inches. Since the goal is to carry a cargo carrier you would need to use the stabilizer strap part # 18050 as well per Curt's warranty requirements.

  • Will Curt Bumper Mount Trailer Hitch # E-100 Fit a 4-1/4 Inch Bumper on a Starcraft Starsteam 24QB
The Curt hitch # E-100 needs a 4 inch square continuous welded steel bumper to install safely. If by removing the decorative trim, you are left with a 4 inch square continuous welded steel bumper, then this hitch will work for you. Be sure to check the owners manual to determine if the bumper can be used for this application. the safest option is to go with a frame mount hitch. I have included a link to the options for you. The most popular is Curt hitch # 13703 because it fits a wide...

  • Receiver Needed for 5th Wheel with 4 Inch Bumper with 5-1/2 Inch Drop
Given the 5-1/2 inch distance between the bottom of the frame members and the bottom of your bumper, the # 13703 will not fit your application. The E-100 you mention is intended for use with 4 inch square bumpers, as well as the Ultra-Fab # UF35-946402. If you have clearance problems at the rear of the bumper, the Ultra-Fab receiver might be a good alternative as it connects to the underside of the bumper using U-bolts, rather than slipping around it like the E-100 does. Either receiver...

  • Can a Bumper Mounted Trailer Hitch Be Installed on a 2015 Coleman Travel Trailer to Carry Bikes
The bumper should be hollow. If it wasn't and was made of steel it would be very, very heavy! If the bumper has just one long weld its entire length then it would be a continuous weld. As far as the bumper capacity it can more than likely support the spare and a couple of bikes. But, to know for sure, I strongly advise contacting the manufacturer to ask so you got all your bases covered. If everything checks out you could use Curt hitch # E-100. But instead of doing that I actually recommend...

  • Will the Curt RV Bumper Hitch, Part E-100, Clear the Spare Tire Support on My RV
The hitch pin of the RV Bumper Hitch, part # E-100 would fall approximately 1-1/2 inches behind the front face of the bumper. You will want to measure from that point out to where it will clear the spare tire support. Compare this measurement to the shank on your cargo carrier. If the distance from the pin hole on the cargo carrier shank to the closest edge of the basket is greater than the clearance measurement you made, you should be fine. The Curt RV Bumper 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver, # E-100 is designed to fit standard 4" x 4" rear bumpers providing ability to tow a trailer up to 3,500 lbs. However, just because this component is rated for that does not mean the bumper on your RV is; you will need to confirm with manufacturer for spec on your Forest River Cherokee 284DBH.
