The Swagman XTC4 hitch-mounted platform rack takes the hassle out of transporting bikes of various sizes and styles. This sturdy powder coated steel rack accommodates most bike frames and makes for quick loading and unloading. The stable tray-style design offers 3 points of contact for each bike: 2 adjustable wheel hoops and a cushioned frame hook that won't scratch your bike. And when you're not using it, the 4-bike carrier folds up against your vehicle so it's out of the way.
When the XTC4 bike rack is folded down for use, the base of the rack sits at a slight incline to improve ground clearance.
Cushioned hooks slide easily down the rack's upright masts to secure each bike at the frame. The hooks click into place with the built-in ratcheting system. When it's time to remove your bikes, you can slide the hooks back up by pushing the integrated buttons to release them.
The wheel hoops slide along the rack's horizontal arms to accommodate bikes with different wheelbases. When the hoops are positioned as desired, you can tighten them in place with the built-in hand knobs. Rubber straps let you secure your bikes' wheels to the wheel hoops.

We have owned many styles of racks over the last twenty years including Thule, Yakima, frame styles, ankle biters, and roof racks. I am a female in my forties with small children (3 and 6). For the reviewers who state it won't work with smaller bikes I disagree. We have 16 and 20 in. tire bikes as well as a trailer bike. Instead of putting the tire rings as directed, you can place 4 heading in the same direction which allows for a very short wheel bases. With the rings the same direction it will still easily fit an adult men's medium frame bike. We can't make it fit the balance bike, but we fill it with bigger bikes anyway. We had a similar x-port rack but hated the tightening knobs on the frame holder portion. They seemed to often loosen in travel. I love the ratcheting system. Bikes hold securely. If tires flatten in travel I don't worry about the bike hanging by the two tire straps. We do add some padding on the contact point with the frame, but I don't worry about much. We have a tri bike, 2 mountain bikes, 2 road bikes, single speed, fitness bike, 3 kids bikes (16 & 20in.) and a trailer bike. Fits them all. Good solid rack for half the price of Kuat, Thule, and Yakima. It is really easy to place on and off. Dropping the center bar while placing the first bike and raising it after placed makes it easier. We were very glad the locking pin and cable came with the rack. It works well when rack is on the camp trailer but can't use it on the 2007 Yukon. It is easy to use any bike lock to secure bikes to rack frame. Glad we ordered from etrailer. Very happy with our purchase. 189633
Placed my order on a Monday and had my new rack on Friday. While the instructions for assembly could tolerate some improvement they were plenty goood enough to get the job done. Took me about an hour to assmble but I wasn't in a hurry. I attached the rack to my Curt receiver (part #C13105) that I installed on my 2011 Toyota Sienna XLE. Only problem with this setup is insufficient clearance to swing the rack into the full upright storage position. I also have to loosen the handlebars on the bike closest to the van and turn them 90 degrees so they don't touch the back of the van. Both these issues could be solved with a hitch extesion but simple enough to work around without. No biggie. Guess that's the price I pay for having the Curt receiver discretely snuggied up under the bumper. This rack is a serious hunk of steel that does a great job of holding the bikes in place. NO wiggle at all. After test fitting the bikes in place, I'm very confident that the bikes will stay put for a long road trip. Getting all the bikes on the rack and clear of each other does take some experimentation. But once you get it set, it's much faster loading on subsequent trips. The provided locking, anti-rattle pin does a great job of securing the rack to the receiver and makes it all feel like one solid piece. The provided cable lock threads through the bikes and back to the locked anti-rattle pin so nobody can steal your bikes while you're at the hotel, etc. Overall, the construction looks/feels very solid and I really don't see anything where I thought they were trying to save money on construction. This does make the rack a little heavy and it could be challenging for a smaller person to manage. I really like the way this rack holds the bikes from the wheels up as oppposed to hanging off a bar. I was afraid the other style would have the bikes swinging lik e a pedulum. Sorry for the long review, hope there's some helpful information in here some of you. 36068
This is a very nice piece of hardware for what I need. I wanted a carrier built well enough to haul 4 bikes several hundred miles without damage. I also was impressed that it gives a little extra clearance at the back, because of how it angles up from the pavement. I am using this unit with a Nissan Rogue, and my U-Haul hitch doesn't come out quite far enough to allow it to swing into the upright position. I emailed etrailer for a solution, and their answer was extremely thorough and helpful. (I will need to get a hitch extender with an anti rattle device; I just haven't done that yet.) Dealing with etrailer.com was fantastic. This is a SUPER professional, courteous group to deal with; they're education- and service-oriented. More online businesses should pattern themselves after etrailer's model. You can't help but want to do more business with them! 157260
It's a great product for the money! Shipped very promptly. Patience is the key when watching the shipping progress and a weekend ensues, but with free shipping, there is no room to complain! Assembly is pretty intuitive. A photo from your web site is a better guide than the figures on the instructions. I've already had four bikes, each with a different frame design, on it and they fit just fine on the rear of a 2013 Dodge Durango R/T. A bit of a close fit with the empty rack folded up but still clears the bumper fascia by 3/4". Just as functional to racks that are over twice as expensive. It's a keeper. I highly recommend it! 148738
I can't believe how quickly I received the bike rack. I ordered it on Monday and got an email Monday that it was shipping. The package arrived at my house on Wednesday; 2 days! I put it together today and installed it to check it out. Easy assembly especially after reading assembly comments and suggestions online while I was shopping. Best advice was to put it on the vehicle before assembling the remaining parts as the vehicle becomes your second set of hands to hold it. I think this will be perfect for our set of mountain, ladies, and kids BMX style bikes as it was tough to load all the different types on my last hanging rack. 59532
Loads and unloads bikes super fast, and holds them firm. Wish I would have purchased this a long time ago instead of struggling with my old frame mount rack. I actually ride more because I don't dread having to load. Adjusts to different bikes easily. Time will tell if the fittings, springs, straps hold up to weather (I leave it on car). It is fairly large and heavier than the more expensive 4 bike racks (it's mostly steel vs. composite plastic), so if you are going to take it off hitch and store it - be prepared. Only recommendation I have is to add softer foam on the frame bar for traveling on rough roads. 149717
I love my Swagman XTC4 4-Bike Rack. Very simple to put together. In less than an hour you are done. The quality and finish of the rack is superb. You can put different size bikes from children to adult without a problem. Bikes are secure, I have driven at highway speeds without any concern at all. I had a two pole hanging type bike rack before this one and the bikes were getting scratched and I was always concerned of them falling off. The swagman bike rack folds away nicely when not in use and it fits perfectly on my 2005 Honda pilot. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this product. 143258
This bike rack is very solid and holds the bike very securely; not rattles, no wobbles, no scuffed bikes. It is a bit of a puzzle trying to get four bikes on the rack the first couple times but it is getting easier with practice. I have two adult bikes and two children's bikes which pretty much run the gamut on sizes and the rack holds the smallest just as well as the largest. As has always been my experience, the customer service from etrailer was extremely fast. 89696

This rack is shipped WITH a threaded locking hitch pin AND a 6 ft plastic-wrapped steel cable, so don't waste your money buying these accesories!! etrailer.com is blissfully unaware of this fact and you'll be responsible for the return shipping because they refuse to admit they know nothing of the products they sell-they just try to sell needless additional accessories! Don't get sucked in!!! That being said, the rack itself is decent for the money. I could've gotten it slightly cheaper elsewhere but was happy with a previous purchase from etrailer-NOT THIS TIME! It is heavy, bulky, and time consuming to get 4 bikes aligned on it properly. My wife would certainly not be able to load it herself. Once all the work's done it does travel well, though. If you're looking for a rack that secures the bikes safely-this is the way to go. It makes no difference what angle the bike's crossbar is at (or if it's a ladies crossbar), this rack will accomodate any style or size bike. This kind of rack makes much more sense than the "hanging" types unless you have 4 identical bikes in the same frame size. Looking forward to many years of use as it appears to be well-made. Just don't buy it from etrailer! 34807
If you've done any research or read any of the other comments on either this rack, or this seller...rest assured they really are as good as everyone says! I ordered my rack on around 4pm est on a Friday afternoon and within an hour I received an email that said they have shipped my product AND upgraded to priority shipping. Can't say enough positive things about the customer service! When the rack arrived, it took me a little over half an hour to get it set up. Probably would e been faster if I were even slightly mechanically inclined (or if didn't I didn't have to borrow a socket wrench from my neighbor). We finally had an opportunity to load up the bikes and head out for a ride today. As others have said, the first time you load up your bikes, it's kind of like a puzzle to get them situated. Took about 15 minutes. This rack is awesome! Very sturdy and the bikes were very secure. Only racks I have had in the past were rooftop fork mount racks. This is so much easier! On e we got to the trail (over an hour drive) getting the bikes off was a piece of cake. Afterwards, it was time to load them back up and it was less than 5 minutes to get them all on and ready to hit the road. There were other 4-bike racks on the website, but this one had enough great reviews that I felt comfortable making the purchase. After the fact, I'm very glad I did! I can't imagine the $800 rack can be that much better than this, and I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a 4-bike platform rack. I will definitely recommend this rack and etrailer.com to everyone I know. 63607
Very sturdy bike rack. Bikes don't move at all. Takes some time to put together. Directions are horrible. Very happy with this purchase. Recommend taking some pictures after you have the bikes on. Took some time To get all four bikes on( puzzle) with the pedals And different size bikes. 783220
As our family has grown, so have our bikes. We needed an upgrade from our frame mount rack. The XTC4 was an easy decision based on the many product reviews and some careful research. First, shipping was amazing! I ordered it on a Monday, and it was at my door the next day. Assembly took about an hour. Setting up and adjusting for four bikes took about another hour to make sure all bikes would go on and off the same way each time. It fits our fleet of mountain bikes nearly perfectly. It also fits behind our 2012 Honda pilot with room to spare when folded upright. Great product, awesome shipping! 229258
Amazing! Well built! If you are looking for a bike rack for the newer frame styles that bicycles come in and more traditional frames, look no further! 938486
This trailer is awesome. After owning it for 5 months I can say that it holds 4 bikes without problems. it is sturdy, well made and It holds very different types and sizes of bicycles which is my case. Cons: You cannot open the back door of your car when the bicycles are in place or when the trailer is completely folded. The trailer has two positions in which it can be partially unfolded and you can open the rear door of your car or suv though. Other brands do, with the disadvantage of not being able to carry four bicycles comfortably. I recommend this product for people in need to carry four bicycles ! 936536
Bike rack is great, we like mounting them lower than the other type of ack that makes you try to get the bars woven through the frames. The rack had a bent bar and retailer shipped us a new one very easily with no questions asked as soon as I emailed them with the problem. New one came quickly and they’ve been a breeze and knowledgable to work with. 916280
Very solid rack, easy to assemble and load (once you figure out your own jigsaw puzzle of bike combos). Is definitely heavy, but that goes with the territory. Excellent info on etrailer site, and no problems with ordering or shipping. 915758
Secure and easy to use 912154
Product is heavy duty. As with all bike racks the first use takes some time to get bikes organized and placed in the correct order but after that it is a breeze. Works fantastic. Tremendous customer service by etrailer. Some parts got lost in shipping (no fault of etrailer) but they sent out replacements ASAP. Don’t usually see great customer service and great prices you can only get one or the other but they nailed it!! 908449

excellent service by etrailer. i was missing some parts and they replaced it. 905136
Heavy duty rack for a very good price! Thank you! 901073
The company was very fast at sending the bike carriers I am very happy with them 899055
Love the bike rack. Very sturdy and solid. Simple to assemble 876109
This platform bike rack is fantastic! It took a little bit (of patients) to put together, but was easy over all. At times it was nice to have a second person around - nothing major. Smaller Kids bikes will struggle with this as the tires will go through the slot. I have heard a few people getting something accross the center to keep the tires up. (like a heavy duty elastic/bungee cord). I suggest adding some reflective tape in some spots once loaded. This will help make it more visible loded & empty. Great Product for the cost! Highly recommended. 856822
