This setup gives you everything you need to start hauling gear—two 53" long WingBar Evo crossbars, four Evo Clamp feet, and a custom fit kit. Driving with bars on the roof can create noise that gets old fast. The WingBar Evo’s aerodynamic shape and split rubber strips in the top channels help reduce that wind noise and vibration while you’re on the road. The strips also close back around your mounted gear, sealing off gaps so air moves smoothly over the rack. It keeps your trips quieter and more relaxed.
These Aero-style crossbars are ready for nearly any adventure setup. You can mount bike racks, kayak carriers, ski holders, or rooftop boxes using either channel-mount or clamp-on attachments. The top channels have a 3/4" wide x 1/8" tall slot with a 3/8" opening, giving you plenty of options to secure different accessories without extra fuss.
Some racks require cutting rubber strips before adding mounts—but not this one. The split-strip design lets you slide accessories right into the track without trimming anything. Once your gear is installed, the strips close back around it to keep things neat and aerodynamic. The process is simple and saves time every time you swap out gear.
You can add Thule One-Key System locks (sold separately) to secure both the rack and any channel-mounted accessories. It’s a small upgrade that helps keep your investment safe when you’re parked at the trailhead or overnight on a road trip.

Hi, I am Danny with etrailer and today we're gonna take a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbar on our 2023 Honda HR-V. Getting roof rack for your Honda is a great idea because it's going to allow you to use a ton of different accessories on the top of your vehicle, like maybe a cargo carrier for a long trip or a bike rack or kayak rack. Now if you decide to get these for your Honda, please let us know and review or comment how you we inchesre liking 'em and what you're using 'em for. So we have three main components here. So we're gonna have the crossbar followed by the tower and then we're gonna have this rubber pad and bracket and that's gonna be part of your fit kit. You will need all three of these components for this to work on your vehicle.
As far as getting your accessory in the crossbar here, it's very simple, you just rotate this end cap here and it reveals your T slot. Now this does have weather stripping built in and on some other roof racks we have, you have to actually cut your weather stripping. And this one allows you to put many different accessories on and still have your weather stripping. You have a lot of room between the top of the vehicle and the top of the crossbar. So clamp on accessories will work with this as well.
These crossbars are 53 inches long and they do stick out a little bit from the vehicle. Both of these are about three to three and a half inches outside of the tower. Now that is important for some accessories like kayak carriers and roof boxes 'cause you want those to be closer to your vehicle for easy access. As far as looks go, these do look pretty good for a naked style roof rack. They do have these brackets that go down on your door trim here, but that's pretty unavoidable with the naked style.
Now with the rubber padding, you can see that there is a little bit of a gapping, but it's mostly flush. And if I just shake this around, you can see it is not gonna go anywhere. Now these towers do come with a cover and you can lock them on this side and now they won't come off and you can use a coin or a screwdriver or anything that you can put in that slot. Now you can upgrade these to a metal core and those will come with a set of keys. I'll go ahead and give you a couple measurements you may need to know.
So from the top of your Honda here to the bottom of your rail is gonna be about three inches. So that's good enough space to put a clamping accessory on. Now the next measurement is from the top to the top of the crossbar here, which is roughly around four inches. So that's good to know if you put a cargo box up here or a different accessory, you can add that to this height and you should know if you're gonna be able to safely go in and out of a garage. All in all, I really like the look of this roof rack on this Honda and if I had these myself, I would keep them on just because it is a little tricky to take 'em on and off. If you're looking to install these yourself, then follow along and I'll show you how to do it. I went ahead and installed the front crossbar and towers on the vehicle and I'll go ahead and show you how to do the rear here. So you're gonna want to get the part that comes in your fit kit, your rubber pad and the bracket. And first we're gonna put this bracket in the tower and should hear a click and that's not gonna come out so we know that's good. And then your rubber pad's gonna have a tab on that back of it here. And so I'm gonna just line that up with the tab on the tower, kind of fold it back over and then press make sure the rubber's all around that. Now keep in mind that all these parts are side specific, so we'll tell you in the instructions they are all numbered as well as these brackets. So you're gonna wanna put these on the corresponding side. Next, I'm gonna take the end cap off our crossbar here. Just push down on that tab, wiggle it till it comes out, and it gives you a ruler in these crossbars and you can actually set this to the specs in the instructions. So this rear one is gonna be 40-1/2" and the front one we set to 43", but those are on the instructions, so that's nice. I put my tower on, it'll butt up against that. So for my tower, there's these two gray tabs that you can push in and that will actually push out on the top part of the tower, which will allow you to slide this in where you need to. So I'll push on those tabs, slide this in up to our ruler. Before we put the rear rail on, I'll go ahead and show you how we got the measurements to where to put the front one. So it will tell you in the instructions that you're gonna measure from the top of your windshield and it's very helpful to get a flexible tape measure to do this, you can do it with a normal tape, this is a little more accurate. And so on these I measured out 12-5/8" to the edge of our foot here. Now that we got our front one tightened down, we can go ahead and place the rear one and you wanna make sure that the thicker side is facing forward. That's gonna be the front. And I'm gonna go ahead and step up here. Place this roughly where we need it. Getting this snugged down might be a little tricky. You may have to loosen each side and work it down, but this is how it should look, once it's fitting snugly. The rubber should be completely seated on the top of the vehicle and there's a little notch you can see there that will be sitting on the lip here. So now with it loosely on, I'm gonna get up here and measure the correct distance. So from the top of our front rail to the front of our back rail is gonna be 27-5/8". So I'm gonna go ahead and move that to that measurement. Once I got the other side measured to the same measurement, I can go ahead and tighten this down. Now it gives you a tool in the kit and it will click once it's torqued completely. But this is very important to tighten this side a little bit. And now I'm gonna go around to the other side, tighten that a little bit and go back and forth just so it tightens down evenly. And this is why I recommend going back and forth tightening each side 'cause it will move on you and you will get these gaps here. So now I'm gonna loosen both sides and get this to see properly again and tighten 'em down again. Once you get 'em pretty tight, it will click and that now you know that they are torqued down. With both sides torqued down, we can go ahead and put our end cap on and our cover for our tower. Once you get all the covers back in place, you are good to go. And now was a look at the Thule Wingbar Evo Crossbars on our Honda CR-V.

Cross rails look good and strong. Nice design. Just didn’t know I needed to spend twice as much more to get mounting hardware. Thought this would all come together. Little disappointed
The towers are whistling like crazy at speeds over 45mph and have tried moving them back and forth to different positions to see if it would fix it but it hasn’t. Installed them identical to your instructional videos. I was going to see if anyone had suggested using silicone to seal any gaps before I return them. Not happy at all about paying over $xxx for this system only for the feet to sound like something bought from [chain superstore]. Please advise.
Very well constructed, powder coating will stand the test of time. I am a fan of Thule, their products are excellent and well thought out... I'm impressed!

Not too difficult to put together (1.5 hrs approx. from scratch start to installed). The first time of measurements is a hassle as expected but not too bad. Looks cool and good as expected from a Thule product.

Even though these were the Thule Aero bars instead of the older square bars, they produced significant wind noise and I removed the roof rack and installed a hitch instead.
I had to warranty the bars because the rubber strips that seal the attachment channel would not stay attached.

I dont even want to use the wing bars. I want aerodynamic profile not the rubber strips.
The bars are strong and fairly quiet, especially considering that I mount them on the main cab of my pickup truck and not on top of the canopy. My biggest concern is that the rubber strip that runs the length of the bar to reduce wind noise was badly damaged when I slid my canoe up on to the bars. Given the weight of the canoe, I'm accustomed to getting one end on a bar and sliding it back into position. Given the sensitivity of the rubber, is started pulling away from the bar and shredding when sliding the gunwales over the top of the bar. I'll try to be more careful, but a roof rack needs to be more utilitarian in my humble opinion.

Bought this as a set along with a set of locks. They did not have the locks in stock, so when I went ahead of canceled that portion of the order, they were able to process and ship it out the next day. It took roughly 1 week for it to arrive.
Following the instructions they provide you with was fairly simple, there was a QR code scan for a video that you can watch as well. I assembled this along with ski carriers that I had as well. I did struggle a little bit with the spacing I needed to fit my snowboard, but it wasn't too much of a hassle.
After assembling it, I was impressed with how it looked and also how stable and tight it was when I was trying to shake it around. As for the test drive, I was very impressed with how there was no wind whistle and they did not fall off (peaked at 70mph).
Overall, I would say it's definitely worth it to buy a good quality cross bar set. And more importantly it was worth it to purchase it from a retailer that does a good job processing and shipping your order without any issues!
The feet are very sturdy and nice to put a strap around. The instructions didn't match the picture of what I was buying because they had a 28in gap between the front and the back feet but I actually needed more like 4 ft. so you can see I used something more like what the picture of a Leaf setup was on the etrailer website. The instructions were a little bit unclear about how the ridge on the bottom of the feet are to sit in the channels on top of the car but on the back rail I had to set the feet way outside the channels anyway. Still seems to be pretty solid

These bars are light weight and easy to set up. However, the measurements in the directions were not right to fit them to my vehicle, and they were really difficult to adjust once the bars were on the roof. They seem to be snug on the roof and working well, I did a test drive yesterday at varying speeds and they are secure. They don't cause any unpleasant noise - you'd forget they were on there.
So far its the best roof rack you can get today! Had no issues when driving through rugged and bumpy terrains all day.
Items arrived later than expected despite cancelling an month long order due to waiting stock on a different set up that was in stock. Once it arrived the box was all torn up and the person that delivered it just dropped it in the garage with the boxes spilling out of the bigger box. Love Thule products, etailer and the shipping supplier not so much,
Overall solid product. The little rubber strips that fit into the top bar are relatively fragile, I installed them, pulled one out to trim about 1/8 inches of excess length and the strip deformed such that it never went back in correctly. Fortunately etrailer had replacement strips.

Reliable and durable
I've always trusted Thule bars. I have an old Xsporter on my truck that works really well and it has held up over time. I needed to get a Thule rack for my Jeep Grand Cherokee and found that etrailer had all the parts I needed specified for my model. That was one of my favorite things about the site. No need to search around for the different parts to attached onto the factory rails. Once I received the rack and components, it was really easy to install. I pretty much watched the etrailer videos before hand.
I have the older Hullavator 897XT to haul my kayak in. With the WingBar Evo, I found I needed to get a slightly longer bolt (6-1.00 x 30), which I got from the local Ace hardware store, to attached the Hullavator support bracket to the WingBar. Once I got those bolts set up, I was on the water with the kayak the next day.
Talked to the customer service a few times and they are great friendly people. And I can understand what they are saying.
53” Thule bars fit our 2021 RAV4 Hybrid! Most people appear to be using 47” bars for the 2021 RAV4 with flush roof rails, but that’s smaller than I wanted. I sometimes carry a sheet of plywood, or a kayak plus a cargo box, and wanted a wider rack for that. I had heard that upsizing to the 53” bar was potentially not possible because the mounting slots on the bottom of the bar may not accommodate the rail locations relative to the bar length. ETrailer helped me out with some dimensions, so I bought the 53” bar knowing it would be close. There is only about a quarter inch of play on either side on the rear bar, but it fit (the front bar had more play, since the towers are a bit further apart at the front).
I’m SO happy with the result! Now I can carry what I want on the rack, and have room to spare! It looks pretty good too!
I’ve been searching for a set of crossbars for my 2021 Crosstrek.
