The flush design keeps the crossbars tight to the roofline, giving your setup a clean, from-the-factory appearance. Because the bars don’t extend past the feet, everything looks integrated and streamlined. The WingBar Edge blends in naturally and keeps a low profile that feels built-in rather than added on.
When you’re driving with gear on the roof, wind noise can easily wear you down. The aero-style bars on this rack are shaped to help reduce that noise, while the split rubber strips in the top channels limit whistling and vibration. The strips seal around your mounted accessories so you can enjoy a quieter, smoother ride without having to blast your music just to drown out the wind.
These crossbars are ready for all kinds of adventures. They work with most bike, watersport, snow, and cargo carriers that mount in the top channels or clamp around the bars. So whether it’s kayaks in summer, skis in winter, or a cargo box for that long road trip, you can use the accessories you already have or easily add new ones later.
Some racks make you cut rubber strips to install accessories. These don’t. The split-strip design lets you slide mounts directly into the top channel without trimming, then closes back around the hardware to keep things quiet and weather-tight. It’s straightforward and quick—no extra steps or wasted material.
You can add Thule’s One-Key System locks (sold separately) to deter theft of both the rack and any channel-mount accessories. It’s an easy way to protect your setup when parked at the trailhead or overnight on your next road trip.

I agree with you that the rack should include the keys however Thule only offers the one lock system separately as part # TH450400 for a 4 pack. They do it this way so that if you have other Thule accessories like a Thule kayak or bike carrier then you can have the option of ordering enough keys to swap them all out to key them the same. For example you can also buy a six part part # TH450600 or an eight pack like part # TH450800.
