Hi, I am Dan with etrailer, and today we're gonna be taking a look at our Thule Roof Rack on our 2024 Ford Maverick. Putting a roof rack on a Ford Maverick is a great idea just due to that smaller bed size. This allows you to use it for bike racks, cargo carriers, or even a kayak rack. This aero style crossbar will help with wind resistance 'cause it's got that teardrop shape. So your Thule Crossbar can accommodate most clamp on accessories. And your T slot is over here.
You just slide that out of the way. And you can put your T slot in this groove. And what's nice is that you don't have to cut this weather stripping like you do on most other brands, where you have to measure your exact accessory and cut it to that size. This one just simply slides in. This fit kit does come with specialized clips and pads for your Maverick.
It has this rubberized coating so it won't scratch your paint, and it fits pretty nicely to the contour of the top of your truck. So now to get you a measurement here. So from the top of our roof rib here to the top of our rail is about three and three quarter inches. So that's important to know if you have like a big cargo carrier up here and you know the height of that and you're pulling into garage, you don't wanna hit that. If you have an accessory that needs to go past this point, your antenna actually will unscrew here.
So you can just unscrew that, and then you have perfect clearance for your accessory. So these roof racks also come in silver, and it might actually really match this neighbor's vehicle today. So he might opt for that if he chose to get them. But overall, these are a great roof rack design. As far as the install goes, they're very simple to put on.
Probably a 30, 45 minute setup. So if you do chose to get them for your Maverick, please let us know what you're using 'em for in a review or comment. But without further ado, let's get into the install. First off, you're gonna wanna take off the Thule cover here. And you just wanna lift up on those and those will clip right off. Next we're gonna take our rubber pads. If we get these on, instead of just pushing vertically, I found it kind of easy where there's this tab here to kind of hook that and curve it in, and then push down. And that seems to work a lot better. Go ahead and flip this crossrail over and take off our end piece here. Just kinda wanna push down on this piece, wiggle it back and forth so you get it out. And then it does come with a built-in ruler. And it will tell you on the fit kit of what to set this to. So I'm gonna go ahead and set that. Right about there. And now I can go and put my foot in. So what you wanna do is you're gonna wanna push down on these two silver tabs here, and that's going to push up on the top there, and that'll help you get it in. Just gonna go until it stops on our ruler. I'm gonna do that on the other side. I've already installed the first rail here closest to the engine. And they want us to measure from the top of the glass to the edge of our foot right here. And they actually give you a paper ruler. So I'm just gonna go ahead and show you how I did that, just measured from the top of that glass. And then put it to the specs in the instructions. And do that on both sides so it's nice and square to the vehicle. I'm gonna go ahead and put this on our Maverick. So with this first one set, we can go ahead and measure off that. And from the front of the rail to the front of this rail is my next measurement. And I'm looking pretty good. I'm gonna check the other side, but those are also in the instructions. And tighten it down once it's set in place. Do make sure not to tighten one side all the way. Kind of go back and forth so you tighten 'em down evenly. Another thing to note is to have these clips on with the door open, 'cause you can catch your door liner in there. So now once you've tightened both sides down pretty much all the way, you're gonna wanna take the torque tool that comes with the kit, and you should be able to torque that down until you hear a click. Just like that. Now with all four torque down, you can go ahead and put your covers back on your feet, and on the rails as well. So your kit does come with flathead locking pin here. It is just a flathead, so you can't upgrade to an actual metal locking one, but it's nice your kit comes with this. And that was a look at our Thule Roof Rack on our 2024 Ford Maverick.
