This knob replaces the locking knob on your Swagman roof-mounted, upright bike carrier or can be used in place of a non-locking knob to add security. The knob installs over a threaded bolt on the carrier's frame clamp, and it includes 2 keys.

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this Swagman replacement locking knob. Now, this is going to replace one locking knob for your Swagman roof mounted upright bicycle rack. And on your screen, I am including the model number of that rack that this is going to work with, for your reference. And this is going to, as you no doubt, know, fit over the bolt on the frame clamp of the upright arm assembly.
It does accept a 5/16 of an inch threaded bolt. And this does include two keys. And it's going to work just like the one that you are needing to replace. So, two keys are included. And this knob is exactly like what you're needing to replace.
This is the direct replacement from Swagman. So, what that means for you is you can trust that this is going to fit right in place of your original, whether it got damaged somehow or maybe it got misplaced. You're not gonna have to worry about compatibility issues, fitment issues, or anything like that. So, if you are needing to replace one locking knob for your Swagman roof mounted upright bicycle rack, this is going to be exactly what you need. Well, that's gonna wrap up our real quick look today.

Though this locking knob is for a roof rack, it worked perfectly for my hitch mounted bike rack. I bought two of them so I can securely lock my bikes to my rack and can feel safe enough to go into the store and not have to worry about my bikes being stolen. I hade a 20+ year old XPORT hitch mounted bike rack that included locks for the rack to the vehicle and to lock the bikes to the rack. Unfortunately, I lost the keys for it but at least the locks were in the unlocked position. I was unable to find replacement keys for the old locks so I unscrewed the old knobs entirely and they were mounted on 5/16" bolts. These replacement locking knobs fit perfectly. I had ordered two of them for the replacement and even though the keys for the two knobs could have been different from each other, etrailer.com did a great job in sending me two knobs with the same keys, so my old bike rack works like new again. Thanks for the excellent service!

It seems reasonably well-made, but it is not really interchangeable with the Sportrack SR0017. This is because the required bolt is 5/16 - 18 but for some bizarre reason NO 5/16 bolts will have a head that is less than 1/2 inch. They will not fit into this knob. The width of the head internal to this knob is only about 7/16 inch.
Not sure how you'd ever get a bolt to fit in this thing.

This locking knob part # P1030 is designed for Swagman roof mounted upright bike Carriers. It is not a replacement part for SR0017 which is a sport rack locking knob. The SR0017 is no longer available from the manufacturer but we do carry replacement locking knob part # SR0018. SR0018 works with sport rack hitch-mounted, single-arm bike carriers A30603, A30604, SR2513, SR2603, SR2604, SR2703, and SR3512.

BUYER BEWARE: If you are seeing this, you probably learned the hard way. You must lock this on your bike carrier ..Every. Single. Time! Or it will fall off, and the bolt will follow. No replacement on the bolt, so you will be forced to buy a whole new Swagman Bike Carrier!!

This hard to find part works great on my bike rack. It is an exact replacement for the one that broke. I can now haul my bikes with confidence that they are secure and protected from theft.
