Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Lippert Replacement Follow Leg for your Keystone Montana Fifth Wheel Landing Gear. Just replace the pin back in there, once we get that hole lined up to secure that drop leg. As far as the dimensions on this for the weld stops, they're going to be roughly from the inner edge of the two tallest ones, or from the top one to the first one on here. It's going to be about 15 1/2 inches, the outer dimensions on that are gonna be 17 1/2 inches to the lower weld stop.

The inner dimension is going to be 19 1/2 inches and then the outer dimension will be 21 1/2 inches. The dimension on the outer shaft here from the top to the bottom is going to be 29 1/2. As far as the width of the leg itself, that's gonna be about 2 1/2 inches. That's gonna do it for our look at the Replacement Follow Leg for your Keystone Montana Fifth Wheel Landing Gear.

Fit as advertised and works better than the original.

by:

The packaged arrived in a very short time from the date it was ordered.
When I went to install this leg did not fit the mounting brackets on my 5th wheel. i lined up with the catch locking tabs on the leg, I had to grind a 1/16 of an inch off the middle lower tab so it would catch the top tab correctly. And this leg was strictly for a keystone montana.
Other than that it fit fine and works nice and smoothly.

Great product

by:

Outstanding service. I dealt with Liz. She was great to do with. Very helpful.

by:

etrailer.com was very knowledgeable in helping me select the correct landing gear follow leg. I received the product in just 2-3 days and it was a breeze to install. I had should a good experience that I will definitely use etrailer.com in the future again.

by:

Replacement follower jack fit perfect. I added some additional grease to the gears and leg screw mechanism. A couple of zerk fittings would be beneficial. Bryan was helpful when discussing the purchase. Once again etrailer delivered as promised.

by:

5 star service but had to grind off 1/8 inch on the slave side and 1/16 inch on drive side of trailer Bevels not a big deal

Perfect no problems

by:

This is listed as a Keystone Montana follow leg jack, but the mounts are on the wrong side for my Keystone Montana. On this leg the mounts that hold the jack from moving up and down are in the same side as the shaft, on my Keystone Montana they are on the opposite side of the shaft. After looking, the lead leg you carry is the same way, which is opposite of mine also. Luckily I was able to pull the guts out and swap them with my old jack so I am up and running again.

by:

Lock tabs are on the wrong side. Does not fit 2008 Keystone Montana Mountaineer.

Hey Mark. I'm sorry to hear the replacement leg isn't working out for you. Usually you want the weld stops to be facing away from the frame, I've linked a QnA that has a pretty good diagram. If yours is not like that, let me know. If there is any other fitment issues let me know and I can track down the right replacement for you, Mark.

by:

the landing gear has been excellent!! without a doubt was one of my best purchases that I have made online
thank you etrailer for the best on line equipment ......

by:

The jack was exactly what I had ordered and fit and worked perfectly in my Montana fifthwheel.

by:

Product is doing what it is supposed to do. All is good so far.

by:

Product was excellent perfect replacement . Phone call was quick and knowledge of knowing which leg was required

by:

Excellent help! We needed a jack leg quickly. A lady helped me get the right one quickly. I had tried another website along with a few other camper dealer locations and all could not help in a timely manner. Thank you so much!

by:

The new landing gear resolved much head ache from the old one, that was repaired multiple times.

by:

Perfect replacement piece for my 2010 keystone montana mountaineer 345dbq. We have completely remodeled our entire rig and this was the easiest replacement of any of the work that we did. I'm a DIY guy and this was easier than changing the oil in your car.

by:

Fast delivery. Part worked perfectly. Quick install! The only reason I gets four stars is because it only came with the part and no hardware. On previous videos I’ve watched on YouTube they included hardware. Not on this delivery.
Overall great product, great service, would have been nice to get the hardware.

by:

Fix the 5th wheel as it should have.

by:

Delivered sooner than I expected Montana specs super duty as ordered. Should be an easy swap. Might also order replacement quick lock for extension at same time.

by:

I have not installed yet but looks beefy enough

Good

by:

Lost a front landing jack while on the road. Rachel got the correct jack to me in 3 days during the Thanksgiving holidays. Super pleased with these guys.

by:

Sturdy, great looking legs. And I am a leg man so I would know! :)

by:

Easy to install and was an exact match for the OEM part.

by:

Great service, and unlike any of the other places I've tried to deal with they actually have things in stock and are able to tell you when they will arrive.

Hey Peter, do you have a Lippert Ground Control leveling system on your Keystone Montana? If so, the part number you mentioned most closely corresponds with the replacement right rear leg part # LC428493. If instead this is a standard landing gear setup the correct replacement lead leg would be the part # LC178653 or for a follow leg part # LC178652. Since 17-1/2 inches and 17-3/8 inches is only 1/8 of an inch difference you might have measured incorrectly. You will want to measure the inside-to-inside dimensions of your frame clamps just to make sure. If you for sure measured 17-3/8 inches then you will need to get a qualified welder to move the weld stop to the correct position. The correct replacement landing gear for your application will be part # LC178653 for the Lead Leg and part # LC178652 for the Follow Leg.

  • What is the Difference Between the Lead Leg and the Follow Leg on My 2008 Keystone Montana?
The lead leg of your landing gear is the leg that has the motor and gear box attached to it directly. The follow leg has a connecting bar that is attached to it from the lead leg to move at the same rate as the lead leg. The follow leg does not attach to the motor assembly and gear box directly. In order to determine if the issue you are having with your landing gear legs clicking and popping is caused by the gear box or leg assembly you will simply need to disconnect the gear box from the legs and then test each manually. If you feel resistance when manually turning the legs then that would indicate either a gear is stripped or the inner tube is bent therefore they would need to be replaced. Most Lippert landing gear systems just have one fuse so I don't think you will find another one in the system. The fact that you replaced the blown fuse and it still did not operate points to a few issues that could be going on.
