So, you have to turn it an angle and make sure that it can easily slide. Once it's in place, we can have somebody run inside and lower down the arm, and I'm going to help guide it down. That way we can line up the hinge. Then with it all the way down, we'll want to line up our hinge, and then we can reinstall our old hardware. Now, note that the larger holes are not used.Perfect.

I bought this vent cover because the plastic tabs that hold the slider for the lifting mechanism had broken off my old cover. I tried gluing them on but that only lasted less then a year and they broke again. I was glad to see the replacement unit had reinforced tabs that looked much stronger than the original. Also, the hinge holes matched the original so I only had to remove the screws on the old hinge and replace the cover, I wish the new cover came with new screws as the old screws were corroded and I had to find suitable replacements. After the installation the cover would not close all the way. After fiddling around with it, I discovered that the tabs on the new unit where the lifting mechanism attaches are offset from the original, so the lifting mechanism was binding, and not allowing the cover to close. I made some 9/16" spacers from some tubing I had in the garage along with some longer mounding screws and that solved the problem. I don't know if all Fan-Tastic vents are the same, so I cannot say if this will be a problem for everyone. See photos

The Fantastic RV Roof Vent Cover fits perfectly and is like an OEM part! East installation and it is amazing how the old cover has become unclear. Shipping time and purchase price were reasonable. Appreciated the "How To" video for the installation.
It was a perfect fit. I did it with no help. The hardest part was getting up and down off the roof. With the dome closed and a razor knife I cut off the silicone at the hinge. Unscrewed the many screws then went back inside to crank open the vent. Went back on top of roof to detach the crank arm. Turns out you only need to crank open half way before disconnecting the arm and removing the screws. It was good exercise for me at 73. I used self leveling caulking on top of screws. Make sure it doesn’t self level itself into into the upper hinge.
