You don't have to guess how much propane is left in your tank anymore. This gas gauge lets you see at a glance when your propane level is low. It also detects leaks.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Camco Propane Cylinder Gas Gauge and Leak Detector. This gas gauge shows you when you propane cylinder is low. It's going to indicate when you have leaks. It's going to fit all propane tanks manufactured after 1995 and it's going to use type 1 connections for gas grills, RVs and boats. This unit installs between the regulator and the propane tank it does not require any tools. Overall length, pretty compact design.
It's going to measure right around 4 inches long. When it comes to the connects on this side you're going to have the acme nut on one end, this connects to your propane tank. You're going to have your acme thread and female POL on the other end that connects to an acme nut or male POL connector on your regulator. This does provide thermal protection in case of fire and excess flow protection in case of a broken gas line. Now on the dial you're going to notice 3 different colors. You're going to have the green area which means that you have a good amount of propane in your cylinder.
You're going the have the yellow area, that means that you're approaching low levels, and you're going to have the red area. That means that your cylinder should probably be refilled. Now I also want you to keep in mind that air temperature can affect the rate of propane use, so you'll notice that this unit references cold, cool day, and hot day. So when checking the dial for the propane level be sure to read the colored area that corresponds to the air temperature that day in order to get the most accurate readings and information. Now to use this as a system to check for leaks, you want to make sure that your propane cylinder valve is closed and that the burner controls on the appliance are off. Then you can open the cylinder on the propane tank.
Excuse me, open the propane cylinder valve to pressurize all the lines that's connected to your appliance, and then after a few second close the cylinder valve. If you do have a leak you'll actually notice the needle on the unit moving to the red area of the dial. That's going to indicate that you do have a leak somewhere in the system and then you can check for leaks. The unit does come with detailed instillation instructions. It's also going to walk you through basically what I just explained on how to check for leaks and it's also going to show you how to locate a leak. Figuring out how much propane I have left has been a big problem, so I invested in these gauges to help me keep on top of things. It was a little bit of a tight connection, but I managed to get them on and they seem to be functioning.
I don't trust the "green dot turns to red dot" system on the standard camper regulators. I prefer visual confirmation of my propane fuel level. This gauge fits the job and is priced right. Thanks etrailer!

Easy to read. You need to take ambient temperature into account when viewing propane level, cuz when it's cold, you have a very different reading than when hot out. One of them is a bit sticky depending on the tightness of the connection, too tight and it won't read at all. Overall, a good product.
not the most dependable item I ever bought. I ended up buying a hand held scale to just weigh the cylinders.

As with everything I have ever ordered from etrailer.com this item arrived in a reasonable amount of time and has exceeded my expectations. I have a small travel trailer I use with my son for football weekends and etrailer.com is my go to for everything related to it.
It leaked about two months ago. I liked the fuel levels show with temperature variations. Replaced with a another brand. Not sure what the warranty is on these. Still have one of the two purchased. Hopefully it will last longer.

I have an RV with two 10 gal tanks. I work out of town and wife lives in RV full time, uses oven and Heater all the time. Easy for her to check the amount left in the tanks so will not run out while baking in the over. Nothing worse than having to change tanks and running the cake or dinner!! Great help for sure and makes my life easier with the the wife. Always great products from etrailer and customer service is awesome. I go to them first for everything. Easy to install and read. I leave in over 100 degree heat summer and gets to freezing temp. in the winter have for over a year and still works great. Thanks guys and gals
Have a two 30lb propane tank system. Installed this on the secondary tank that I switch to once the primary runs low to better gage how much propane is left before filling is required. Gage sometimes "sticks" and needs a gentle tap but other than that it works as required. Very easy installation and fits into a fairly small area. Recommend measuring your area and reading the etrailer response on the overall gage length before ordering.

Everything I ordered fits and works great. The automatic switch over from one tank to the next on the regulator is perfect with no disruption in the gas line. Customer service was very helpful too when ordering the fittings.
worked as an upgrade and replacement
This is a worry free product. Just put it on and you don't have to worry about how much propane is in your tanks, because you know.
The gauge looked well made and I’m sure it would have worked great but it wouldn’t fit inside the tank cover on my camper so I had to return it. The return process is easy but shipping was almost half the price of the gauge.
