Question:
I have used several of this type gauge in the past, and they never lasted more than a year. What makes us think this one will last several years?

Welcome back Paul. The Camco Propane Cylinder Gas Gauge and Leak Detector item # CAM59023 is overall a better product. It is made of solid brass, has heavy duty seals, and uses a copper and brass alloy spring for the gauge. Other gauges use thin alloy castings, cheap O-rings, and cheap Bourdon tubes that lose tension on the gauge spring within months.
The Camco Propane Cylinder Gas Gauge and Leak Detector item # CAM59023 measures 3-3/4" overall and has a easy to read color coded display. It has Type 1 male and female fittings that are standard on propane tanks. It's also got built in safety features in case of a fire and/or excess flow from a broken gas line.
I recommend covering the Gas Gauge and Leak Detector item # CAM59023 when your RV is in storage. Another thing you can do to help the gauge last longer is to turn off your propane at the tank when you're not camping.
What all do you use propane for when you're camping? Feel free to answer this and throw in any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.

We travel a lot! 2016 Eagle Cap Truck Camper mounted on a custom built trailer, pulled by a 2024 Toyota Tundra Hybrid Limited, 6-1/2 ft bed. (2014 F350 dually 6.7 diesel was getting too expensive to operate, and was a bit overloaded). The Toyota has 437 hp, and pulls the load very well. Only major problem I have had is the brakes could be a bit beefier. (they have overheated a couple of times on long winding downhill roads). Both 30# propane tanks are mounted on the front of the trailer, and are covered. They are Y'd together, sending propane to the switch over valve via one hose. This allows twice the amount of vapor to be used which is especially helpful at high altitudes and cold climates. I have been using the Mopeka standard tank sensors which have worked extremely well for a few years. They are now malfunctioning, (not bluetooth ing,) so I figure they are "worn out" and is time to replace them. The propane is used for the absorption refrig, furnace, Onan 2500 genset, and cook top / oven. I assume the 3-3/4 " is the length of the unit. I will have to measure under the cover and see if I have enough room for the gauge to fit. Thank you for your help. I can send you a picture of the unit, if you'd like to see it. PR
