Troubleshooting Propane Gauge Restriction Causing Generator to Not Run
Published 06/30/2022 >
Question:
Just bought a 1200 duromax gen and a 100lb propane tank. Also purchased a fuel gauge attachment and 12ft extension hose, so my config is tank valve with the gauge attached to the 5ft hose with regulator to the 12ft extension hose to the gen. Through this all I am not getting enough propane to properly run the gen, Im sure you guys have heard this many times but maybe you can suggest a better setup. My thought is to x the 5 ft hose and put the regulator on the 12ft one and see is that provides better flow. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you

I've seen this issue several times and the culprit is generally the Propane Cylinder Gas Gauge # CAM59023. Start by removing your gauge to test the generator off of that. You want to have the regulator as close to the cylinder tank valve as possible. If you are still having the same issue your regulator is bad or there is something in your lines that is restricting flow to the generator. Both would need to be inspected by a propane distributor test facility.
