When you're hauling a heavy load, the last thing you want to worry about is whether your gear can handle the weight. This Class 4 Safety Chain is up to the challenge, boasting a maximum gross trailer weight rating of 15,000 lbs. It's perfect for users who demand strength and reliability from their towing equipment, whether you're attaching a boat trailer, utility trailer, or a gooseneck hitch setup.

Stay Safe with Durability: Zinc-Plated Corrosion Resistance

Rain, mud, and snow can wreak havoc on your equipment, leading to rust and weakened structural integrity. Thankfully, the zinc-plated finish on this safety chain creates a tough barrier against corrosion, ensuring longevity and durability. Say goodbye to rusty links and hello to robust towing security, no matter the weather conditions.

Effortless Hookups: Clevis Style Slip Hook Connection

Struggling to connect your safety chains on the fly? The inclusive 3/8" clevis style slip hook transforms what used to be a cumbersome chore into a seamless process. It easily attaches to safety chain loops on any hitch, saving you time and frustration and letting you hit the road faster.

Perfect Length for Versatile Use: 42-Inch Chain

This 42-inch chain ensures you have enough length to connect safely between your trailer and vehicle without excess slack that can tangle or create dangerous situations. Whether you're using it for a boat or utility trailer, the length is just right for ease and safety.

Built Tough with Premium Materials: Carbon Steel Construction

Knowing you're towing with materials that can withstand the test of time gives you peace of mind on the road. Crafted from rugged carbon steel, these chains boast a robust build that's designed to handle the pressures of the trail without faltering.

Versatile Application: Ideal for Various Hitch Types

This safety chain isn't just for one specific towing setup. It's versatile enough to fit with multiple hitch types, including Reese Goosebox and various truck models. Whether you're rolling with a Ram or any other heavy-duty rig, this chain adapts to your needs for a hassle-free towing experience.

Video Transcript for Buyers Products Class 4 Trailer Safety Chain with 1 Clevis Hook Review

What's up everybody it's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out these virus products, safety chain hook, and this is going to be replacing our old rusty one on our trailer you see it's seen better days and we kind of want to upgrade the one with the latch. So we're going to put that on there and check it out. Take a look at the chain. It's going to be 42 inches long. And then when you look at the links here, the links are going to have a three eighth of an inch diameter.

And it's also going to have a three eights of an inch hook here on the end. The chain also has a weight rating of 15,000 pounds, and it's also going to have a zinc coating on there. That's just going to help with that rust and corrosion. It's not going to happen as easily. I mean, they're not weather proof, but it is going to help fight that off.

Installation is really easy. We took off our old chain. So what we're going to do, is put it through the shackle right there. Just like that. Let me get my hand out of the way, and then we're gonna attach it to the trailer.

So its lining up with the hole there. I run this through the bottom. Now it's all set up. I'm going to add the Cotter pin in place and then we'll be done. I kind of have an older rustier one so its just going to fight me just a little bit but, not a big deal.

Get it started in there and come back with a hammer. Just give it a couple taps to help it go through. There we go. Now you can just pry those out on each side, And It will Keep that everything in place. Overall, safety chains will be a great addition to your trailer, especially if you're replacing an old worn out one, or you're just looking to upgrade and get you one of the hooks with the guard on there That way it just snaps into place When you go to attach it, and you can be on your way. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and I hope this helped..

  • How To Attach Safety Chains To Trailer Tongue
I am not aware of a bolt-on version of the Buyers Products Weld-On Safety Chain Retainer part # 3375471000. However, if all you were wanting to do is mount your safety chains to the tongue of your trailer then you will just simply do so by running a grade 8 bolt though both the chain and frame like you can see in the two attached photos. If you were wanting to use the Buyers Products Weld-On Safety Chain Retainer for a different application then just let me know what that is otherwise...

  • How to Choose Safety Chains for 12,000 lb Trailer
The safety chains you choose need to be able to handle at least 12,000 lbs so the # 337B03835SC wouldn't work for your trailer. You also need to choose a length that allows you to cross the chains and also be able to make sharp turns. The best way to determine the right length is to hook up your trailer and make a tight turn so you can measure the distance between the safety chain connections. For safety chains with a 15,000 lb capacity we have the # 337BSC3842 which are 42" long or the...

  • Is There a Bolt On Bracket For Safety Chains on a Trailer
I may have a solution for you but I'm not aware of a bolt on safety chain bracket or clevis that can be used. However you can simply take a safety chain set (or your existing chains) like the 42" Long Safety Chain with 3/8" Clevis Hook (15,000 lbs) # 337BSC3842 and use a grade 8 bolt to attach the chains directly to the trailer with a washer holding the bolt through the last chain link. I've linked some photos that show how to make this work for you but that would be my suggestion if you're...

  • Can Quick Links be Used to Attach Safety Chains to Trailer
When using safety chains, each component, including the quick links, must meet or exceed the GVWR of your trailer. So if you used a pair of safety chains that were rated for 12,000 lbs - to meet the 24,000 lb GVWR of your trailer - you would need to use quick links that were also rated for 12,000 lbs. The highest-rated quick links we carry are the Curt Safety Chain Quick Link # C82932 which is rated for 16,500 lbs and would not be enough for your 24,000 lb trailer. If you are unable to...

  • Recommended Gooseneck Trailer Safety Chains
For a general-purpose safety chain for a standard gooseneck trailer we offer # 337BSC3842 from Buyers Products. This is a 42-inch chain with 3/8-inch clevis. The chain is rated for 15,000 pounds. This is sold as a single chain, not a pair. The 36-inch safety chains included with Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3109 are similar to chains like # RM3230 which include the D-rings needed to attach them. This item is intended for use with that specific adapter. We also...

  • Safety Chains Compatible With Buyers Products Weld-On Safety Chain Retainer
For your Buyers Products Weld-On Safety Chain Retainer # 3375471001 you will need a chain with a 3/8" diameter; you can use the 35" Buyers Products # 337BSC3835 or 42" # 337BSC3842. Both of these chains have a clevis hook and a maximum trailer weight capacity of 15,000 lbs.

The clevis hook on the Tow Ready Safety Chain Kit part # 49150 is 5/16" diameter. Therefore if this hook will not work with the Curt Ball and Safety Chain Loops Kit for Ram Underbed Gooseneck Hitch part # C60618 then you will want to move up to a 3/8" diameter clevis hook like the one included with the Buyers Products Trailer Safety Chain part # 337BSC3842. This clevis hook should be large enough to accommodate the safe chain loops on the above Curt Gooseneck Kit. You will need two of them...

  • How are Old Safety Chains Removed from Trailer to Install New Ones
The Buyers Products 3/8" x 42" Class 4 Trailer Safety Chain with 1 Clevis Hook # 337BSC3842 is longer at 42 inches long and have a 15,000 lb capacity so they would work well for you. You'd most likely need to have the current ring cut or ground off so that you could then use something like the # 362ChainLoopU to weld on new loops and attach the chains.

  • Adding Safety Chain Mounts To Pole Tongue Trailer After Installing Swing Away Hinge
I have some options for you as the CE Smith Tie-Down Bracket # CE26214G is not rated for attaching Safety Chain # 337BSC3842. We do also have the Buyers Products Weld-On Safety Chain Retainer # 3375471001 which can allow you to add chains. Take a look at part # 6495-401-04. This hook has a working load limit up to 5,400 lbs and the pin that connects through the chain is 7/16 of an inch in diameter. The Curt Clevis Hook, # C81970, has a 40,000 lb weight capacity and the pin that connects through the chain is just over half of an inch (.52 inches) in diameter.
