Approved for use on cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs - not approved for fifth wheels, motorhomes, towable campers, or flat-towed vehicles

Thule EasyFold XT

The EasyFold XT platform-style rack is specifically designed to reduce the burden of transporting e-bikes, free-ride bikes, downhill MTBs, and other heavy bikes. It includes a ramp that lets you easily roll your bikes on and off the rack without lifting. The rack folds up for compact storage and has an integrated handle and wheels that make it easy to roll to and from your vehicle. It has independently adjustable arms with padded clamps that grip your bikes by the frames. You can tilt the rack with bikes loaded for access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. It also includes locks that secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

Folding Ramp

Thule EasyFold XT

A folding, aluminum ramp is included so you can roll your bikes on and off the rack- no heavy lifting required. The ramp extends 36" to create an angle small enough that you can roll your bikes up and down it with ease. There is also an extra-long, 53" ramp (sold separately) available for use when your EasyFold XT is installed on an SUV, van or other tall vehicle.

Thule EasyFold XT

The ramp fits into grooves at the end of each wheel tray.

Thule EasyFold XT

When you aren't using the ramp you can fold it up and store it onboard the rack.

Folds for Easy Transport and Compact Storage

Thule EasyFold XTThule EasyFold XT

The EasyFold XT folds for easy transport and compact storage. The wheel tray folds in half and there is a small lever under the base of the rack that lets you fold up the shank.

Thule EasyFold XT

It has an integrated handle and wheels that make the rack easy to roll to and from your vehicle.

Adjustable Arms with Frame Clamps

Thule EasyFold XT

The EasyFold XT's dual arms are detachable so you can reposition them anywhere along the upright tube to fit bikes of any frame style.

Thule EasyFold XT

Clamps with built-in Road Dampening Technology (RDT) pads grab your bikes by the top tubes or downtubes to ensure safe transport with minimal movement and noise. The clamps can be rotated to grab bike frames with angled downtubes. The clamps include AcuTight knobs that click when they are tight around your bike frames. This prevents you from damaging your bike by over-tightening the knobs.

Sturdy, Molded Wheel Trays

Thule EasyFold XT

The EasyFold XT's molded wheel trays can carry e-bikes, downhill MTBs, and most other heavy bikes. The top half of the wheel trays are made of durable, weather-resistant ABS plastic. The anodized aluminum bottom half provides a rigid outer shell without adding much weight to the rack.

Thule EasyFold XT

Ratcheting wheel straps with quick-release levers let you secure your bike's wheels to the tray. An adapter kit (sold separately) converts the wheel cradle sets for use with your fat bike tires.

Tilting Design

Thule EasyFold XT

The EasyFold XT tilts forward with bikes loaded for convenient access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. To tilt the rack, just press the handle at the front of the wheel tray. To return it to the upright position, push the rack back toward the base until it locks into position with an audible click.

Tool-Free Installation

Thule EasyFold XT

The EasyFold XT installs quickly and easily with the AutoAttach system. Simply open the SnugTite hitch pin, slide the shank into your receiver, and close the pin so it slides through the pin hole and shank. Once installed, turn the knob to deploy an anti-rattle wedge in the shank. This helps take play out of the hitch connection.

Complete Security for Bikes and Rack

Thule EasyFold XT

The EasyFold XT includes One-Key System locks to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. Locks on each frame clamp knob secure your bikes to the rack.

Thule EasyFold XT

The lock on the hand knob secures the rack to your vehicle. The hand knob will spin freely when locked so a would-be thief can't operate the knob to remove the rack from your hitch. The locks are keyed alike so you can use the same keys for all of the locks. Additional One-Key System locks (sold separately) let you make all of your Thule products keyed alike.

Hitch Compatibility

Thule Apex XT 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack 1-1/4

The rack works with both 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. To use it in a 1-1/4" hitch, simply remove the adapter with the included Allen key.

by:

I love this bike rack. Holds my heavy e-bike securely. It's very easy to take the rack on and off the car. The straps and levers to keep the bikes secure are well-placed, convenient, and well designed. My only complaint is that the ramp is extremely flimsy and doesn't attach well to the rack. The ramp was the biggest selling point for me (and I'm still grateful to have it) but I wish it was higher quality. I don't think I could lift my e-bike high enough without it. But it's barely possible to use the ramp with only one person. I've done it but it seemed risky like everything could fall on top of me. You pretty much need one person to hold the ramp in place and another to push the bike up the ramp.

I'll also mention two things if you're using a 1 1/4" hitch. The rack arrived with the 2" adapter installed. It was EXTREMELY difficult to remove it so that I could use it with my 1 1/4" hitch. I thought we might have to take it to a mechanic but after using two people with all their strength and almost breaking the wrench, we were finally able to get it off. The other thing to note is that the pin for holding it onto a 1 1/4" hitch doesn't go all the way through because of the angle. You can still secure the rack to the hitch using the tension handle. But there was something unsatisfying about not being able to put the metal pin all the way through.

Despite these few issues, I LOVE this rack and I'm glad I spent the extra money for an expensive rack. One of the great features about this rack is that you can open your trunk without removing the rack. Not only does the tilt-back feature work well, I'm even able to open my hatchback without tilting the rack, which is even more convenient.

I highly recommend this rack. And I also recommend buying it from etrailer. They had great customer service and shipped the item immediately. They also honored a 110% price match when I found the rack cheaper on another website.

As someone with extensive manufacturing experience, I can say this is a sturdy and robust product that will work well for anyone who can follow directions and mount bikes correctly on it.

Having said that, there are a few items people should be aware of that can cause users some issues.

The included “ramp” is not tall enough to work with a standard size pick up’s trailer hitch. I have a dodge ram 1500 series and the rack sits way too high when mounted on the truck hitch for the ramp to even touch the ground.

If you plan on using a standard size pick up or a suburban or Denali type vehicle and are planning on using with heavier bikes or ebikes, buy the longer ramp made by Thule to help with getting your bikes on the rack. It costs about $[XX] and won’t nest inside the rack like the shorter one. But if you have heavier bikes or have issues lifting your bike, it’s a must have. In my opinion, Thule should have designed it with the longer ramp to start with to accommodate standard size trucks and SUV’s but it is what it is.

The mounting struts take a bit of getting used to in order to configure properly to fit your bikes. Make sure you aligned your pedals and frame so that the bike nearest the back of the vehicle doesn’t rub against the frame of the rack before locking the bike into place. Once you find the proper pedal alignment for your particular bike, everything clamps down nicely and is very sturdy.

Overall, aside from the ramp issue adding another $[XX] to the cost of the rack, I’m pleased and it should last for years. The locks are a nice feature as well. Protects your rack and your bikes from theft.

Thank you so much for the thorough and honest review of this rack, Josh! Taking into account the height of your pick up is definitely a nice heads up to have. The ramp being 36 inches long does limit its use a little bit. I hope you are able to get out and use your bikes a lot this spring!

by:

This is a very solid piece of equipment. It took some time to come up with the perfect configuration for my two electric bikes, but the rack is designed with a lot of flexibility to accommodate so many different positions and I was able to find the one that worked for me. Now that I got it, I took photos and I will be able to mount the bike more and more quickly with practice. It folds down to allow very easy access to my Prius hatchback. I can stand right in front of the open hatch with no problem. I'm thrilled!

by:

We have 2 electric bikes, one of which weighs 66 lbs. so I was looking for a rack with ramps. This also has wheels to transport the rack from garage to car without having to carry it.
Let me tell you, the wheels made this rack worth every penny.Lot of racks have ramps, this is the only one I found with wheels and they are a game changer.
Once the wedge is tightened into the hitch there is no play/wobble at all.

The wheels were such a great addition to the design of this rack! Makes it sooo much easier with the heavier bikes. What kind of e-bikes are you using?

by:

Easy to put together and put on my car. The ramp works great to get my e-bike up on the rack. Very solid with no shaking when driving.

by:

It is light and very easy to use. The instructions are so vague you tube came in handy. ETrailer was very quick to deliver… All and all it was a good experience.

by:

Ce bike rack. Took a couple of times using it to figure out how to use it.

by:

I splurged a bit on this bike rack after reading the reviews and watching the videos. I have to say I am glad I did. This an OUTSTANDING bike rack. It is very solid, easy to load and secure my two bikes, holds an ebike very well, folds easily for storage and for carrying, and tilts easily when the bikes are loaded. I also like that it locks my bikes.

Very Good

by:

This rack is perfect! eTrailer had it shipped and at my home in almost no time. I drove with it on the car today, and it was solid and secure. It's super easy to get on and off the hitch. I'm 5'1 and I was able to load the bike on with the ramp without a struggle.

Thanks for the thorough video and comparison information. It made this purchase easy.

by:

I purchased the rack and receiver hitch a year ago. Installation of the rack was made simple with the installation video that was specific to my vehicle (2020 Honda Accord). Literally took less than an hour start to finish. Only tool that I needed to buy was a torque wrench, which was about 20 bucks. It did require a very small cut in the plastic bumper that was accomplished easily with a keyhole saw. There was no drilling or other significant issues.

The rack itself is awesome! My wife and I have two Lectric XP3 bikes. They weigh about 65 pounds each with battery. When we travel I revome the batteries to save a bit of weight. I have made two cross country trips (over 6000 miles) with this rack and have never had an issue. Literally every gas stop or hotel stop someone asks me about the rack and bikes. It really is that nice. My wife usually scolds me because we lose a 1/2 hour of travel time each stop to visit with complete strangers:)

The rack is easy to install and remove on the receiver hitch. The lockout feature works great and gives a great deal of peace of mind.

The bikes are easy to load. I don't use it, but there is a ramp that could make loading the bikes easier if a person couldn't lift the bike onto the rack.

There are two arms the lock onto the frame of the bikes similar to the receiver hitch. Once locked down the bikes will not move.

I would recommend ordering the longer ratchet staps if you have fat tires. I think they cost around 20 bucks but the longer straps allow for a little more flexibility in arranging bikes on the rack.

I would strongly recommend this product and this company.

by:

The Thule XT bicycle rack does not take two fat tire e bikes. But is great with 1 fat tire e bike and a normal off road bike. I tow the ebike and mountain bike to Houston at least twice a month and have no worries at all. But it will not tow two ebikes. Could someone recommend one that carries two fat tire ebikes. Specifically Himiway ebikes.

Thank you for your review. The Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes does carry 2 fat tire e-bikes as long as they do not weigh over 65 lbs. a piece. You will need 2 sets of the Fat Bike Straps part # TH985101 to adapt the straps for the width of the fat tires.

Always pleased with customer service and quick shipping.

Thank you

I've had the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for a year now and have used it to transport my 2 Specialized e-bikes on several occasions. It has worked well and I've had no problems. It's a little heavy but the fact that it has it's own wheels to roll to and from my car eliminates any problems.

by:

This has turned out to be an excellent choice to carry an Electra eBike and another bike. We needed a carrier with capacity to safely move a 50+ pound eBike and found several candidates. Although this is the most expensive, after a bit of deliberation and some contact with etrailer, we selected this one.
The clamps and straps do not interfere with eBike bike fenders. Some other carriers have a different restraining method. The capability to locate the clamps on nearly any spot of the vertical bar makes it great for carrying any combination of the bikes we own.
It is extremely easy to roll it out of the garage and set it up. Without hurrying, I can get it installed and two bikes on it strapped and clamped and ready to go in less than 15 minutes.
Installing and using the carrier is exactly as it is shown in the videos. Very simple and very secure when installed.
I have tried the ramp just to see how it works and I think it is solid enough to move any eBike. Presently we don't need to use it, but one day we will and I think this rack is solid enough we will still be using it.
Being able to mount the vehicle license plate on the carrier is a nice feature. Plate is not obscured by the bikes. I have never been stopped for that when using any other carrier, but now there won't be a reason!
I was initially concerned about the distance the plastic parts of the carrier would be from the exhaust tips on our 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T. A few years back I melted a tarp on a cargo carrier while on a trip and did not want to melt an expensive bike carrier. I checked a bunch of measurements I could find online with retailers and the mfg. I emailed etrailer.com to find out what I did not know. Conner L was quick to answer my dimension questions and created an answer page; great service and I appreciated that. John Huff followed up to ensure I got what I was looking for.
I think there is plenty of clearance, about 16 inches horizontally, and the carrier is nearly 3 inches above the exhaust tips. Photos attached. We have done plenty of local trips and not noticed any affect from the exhaust.
When the carrier arrived it was well packed. One minor problem was the reflectors seemed to have fallen out of their receptacles and got stuck to the plastic bag at the bottom of the box containing the documentation. Maybe due to being in hot shipping trucks this summer. I emailed etrailer and got several responses from folks. They took my problems seriously and sought to resolve it. Great service. I was concerned the double stick tape was not tacky and no longer any good- they sent me a new set of reflectors right away. Could not ask for better service from Carole, Jesse, Nicole, and Korren.
Quality products and quality service made me a very happy customer. Although this seems like it is an expensive carrier, it is very well designed and works like a dream. Because it is so easy to use, I use it a lot more than my previous carrier. It seems like it will provide long term value in dependability and ease of use.

First the negatives: if you have a aftermarket mid-drive electric beach cruisers to load using the ramp you'll run into a bit of a problem. When loading the first one you'll bottom out mid way up the ramp, meaning the motor hits and you'll need to lift up the back end of the bike to get it up there. Then you'll need to lean the bike toward yourself to get the pedals past the upright black bar that the holders are attached to, this is a bit awkward due to the weight of the bike, the angle and height you are working at. You are probably better off just lifting this style of bike onto the carrier. When loading the second bike you can forget about using the ramp all together due to how narrow the placement is on the carrier between the two bikes. To me this carrier appears to have been designed for lightweight road bikes that have narrow profiles.

One of my cruisers has fat 3.5 inch tires. Before purchasing the carrier I did ask one of the experts on the site if I would be required to purchase the extra long tire straps. He said "NO" and that the carrier could accommodate tires up to 4-11/16, well that question has since been modified to read "YES" you do need to purchase the extra long straps.

Some positives: The ability to roll the carrier to the car is a nice feature. The way it screws to the hitch and it's ability to lock to the hitch is a plus. The bike clamps feel very secure and gives a peace of mind that your bikes are firmly in place and not going anywhere, even when parked thanks to the locking feature of the clamp.

A decent carrier with some flaws.

by:

Found the bike carrier with ramp to be extremely easy to use, it is light maneuverable & storable. I have a four-wheel-drive full-size Chevy Silverado pick up with a Lance 8.5 over the cab camper. Using a 7 inch hitch extension, I’m able to still enter the camper with the carrier in the down position, as shown in the picture. With the camper on the truck it’s easy to get my Mt. bike And my wife’s E bike on & off the carrier with the ramp. But with the camper off the truck the ramp is almost straight up and down, the truck is not low enough, and the ramp is not long enough. So I have to put a 10” step bench underneath the ramp so that I can get the bikes on and off using the ramp. I also purchased the Swagman RV horizontal 2 bike bag. The problem with the bike bag is that the little hole that slips through the hitch receiver is not big enough to go over the wheels of the carrier. So you must cut a hole big enough (10”x12”) to expose where the ramp is stored and the carrier latch points are exposed, so that the carrier will snap back & lock in the upright position. Then the bag will fit two bikes with this bike carrier.

This is the second Thule Bike carrier which I have purchased from etrailer for my e-bike. The previous one was damaged beyond repair on i-95 in Georgia in a stop and go traffic situation when we were rear-ended. Although expensive, this was is the best bike carrier for my e-bike which is too heavy for me to lift up onto a bike rack because it utilizes an integrated ramp. Also, it is rated to carrier more weight than a typical bike rack. I have been very pleased with this product and ease of use for a 125lb woman!

by:

I don't know what I can say good about this Thule EasyFold XT 2 E-Bike Platform Rack that hasn't already been said before.
The designers of this rack knew what they were doing. As the old saying goes, "They Built A Better Mouse Trap"!
It's light weight but sturdy, secure, fender friendly, compact, portable, easy to install, no assembly or tools required and easy to load bikes on .
I was reluctant in purchasing this rack because of the initial cost but after much research I come to the conclusion as with many other purchases, that in most cases you get what you pay for.
I really like the one person ease of loading and solid method of securing the bikes, the built-in 3 security locks using the same key, the fold-up compactness for storage and the ramp to aid in loading our 63 lb. E-bikes.
If your spending $4,000 to 8,000 for E-Bikes don't cut corners. Keep them save and secure going down the road.
I highly recommend this Thule Hitch Bike Rack for E-Bikes.

by:

We purchased the Thule EasyFold XT 2 E-Bike Platform Rack from etrailer.com in May 2019. I received the Rack within a week, and the packaging was excellent. As the video describes, the EasyFold is very compact, relatively light weight, and easy to install & use. Adding two, 60-pound fat tire e-bikes was very straight forward, and we are very impressed with the security features for this rack – both on the bike clamps and the stinger. The near horizontal tilting away from the car is a nice bonus. This rack is well built and easy to handle such large e-bikes, and we highly recommend this product.

by:

Very pleased with this bike rack for my electric bike. I have used it behind my 2012 Ford Explorer and Motor-home. My bike is a fat Tire so I ordered the longer wheel straps and the longer ramp. Straps work excellent. I am 71 and the ramp is two narrow for fat tire bikes and are hard to keep bike on them for loading or unloading. I ended up making my own ramp by using a pet ramp and attaching ends that fit into both ramp slots of the carrier. Now it's a breeze to load and unload the bike without any help from others. This is a great carrier and I would recommend it to anyone with electric bikes

by:

I love our new rack! Thule is amazing with their design. I have an ebike and it’s just too heavy for me to lift and place on a rack. Thule has designed a rack with a ramp. I have NO problem rolling my 58 pound bike up the ramp and into the saddles easy to secure the bike and there is no wobble at all when I drive. I’ll be riding A LOT more now that I can transport my bike easily and securely.
BTW, etrailer.com is a great company. Their customer service is amazingly helpful.

by:

This is, without exception, the BEST bike rack we have ever owned. We have two e-bikes, which bring with them special considerations insofar as racks are concerned: we have to be able to cover them and since e-bikes are heavier, the racks really have to be up to the task. We have purchased other racks, even one recommended by our bike manufacturer, to great disappointment. This Thule rack is simple to mount, extremely stable and easy to cover. We drove 3,240 mile cross-country with two 48-pound bikes on the back of our Jeep and didn't have a single problem. GREAT CHOICE!

by:

We have only used this rack a couple times, but it seems to work very well for our 2 E-bikes. The lock on feature is essentially great. We have been looking for a cover for it to use while it is folded and on the car. Haven’t found one so far.

by:

Excellent bike carrier that’s easy to use! I added on the longer straps to accommodate the fat tires on our ebikes, but other than that, I was able to unbox the rack and install/use it immediately. These bikes weight 63lbs apiece and this rack handled the weight with little swaying over the course of our 250 mile round trip. It might be a little pricey, but it sure gave me confidence that our bikes were safe and not going to be stolen or become hiway trash during the course of our trip.

by:

Got this to haul two fat-tire Ebikes. It is about the only model available that will carry two 63lb bikes. One of the reflectors fell off the first time I used it, but etrailer sent out a replacement. Nice that it adjusts to grip bikes that do not have a horizontal crossbar. Yes, it is expensive but it does work great. Two friends have also purchased this after seeing mine.

The rack does weigh 45 lbs but it can be folded in half and is designed with a handle so you can easily carry it to the vehicle. Once you have the bike rack in the hitch you can simply walk the bike up the included ramp onto the rack instead of lifting the bike. The Thule...

  • Can the Thule Extra-Long Loading Ramp # TH933402 be Modified to Fit the Thule T2 Bike Rack?
I have a solution for you. The Extra-Long Loading Ramp for Thule EasyFold XT # TH933402 is only constructed to attach to the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack # TH903202. The Thule Easyfold XT has slots below the platforms that allow the connecting piece of the loading ramp to fit into the rack. Unfortunately, the Thule T2 does not have that opening. With that being said, I recommend the Thule Easyfold XT Bike Rack # TH903202 if you are having trouble with loading your e-bike onto your T2. The...

  • Does The Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack Need an Adapter To Fit a 2" Receiver?
Yes, the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack # TH903202 will fit in a 2" class III receiver. The rack will come with a removable adapter if you need to use it on a vehicle with a 1-1/4" receiver. • Best E-Bike Rack Recommendation to Carry Rad Rover Step Thru Bikes with Fat Tires
The Thule Easy Fold XT E-bike rack part # TH903202 that you referenced is definitely the best e-bike rack around and what I would recommend for your Rad Mini Step Thru bikes. • Will Thule EasyFold XT Bike Carrier Work With Jeep Wrangler That Has Spare Tire
You can take a quick measurement to see if the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Carrier, part # TH903202 will work on your Wrangler. You will need a tape measure and a straight edge like a yardstick or a dowel. Place the straight edge vertically against the back of the spare tire, letting it extend below the trailer hitch receiver opening. Then measure from the center of the hitch pin to the straight edge. This will give you the distance you need to clear the spare tire. I have attached a link...

The Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # TH903202 may clear the spare tire on your 2018 Jeep Wrangler, but you will want to take one measurement to verify.
