Will Thule EasyFold XT Bike Carrier Work With Jeep Wrangler That Has Spare Tire

Will the Thule Easyfold hitch bike rack fit my Jeep Wrangler w/ spare tire? Thanks,

You can take a quick measurement to see if the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Carrier, part # TH903202 will work on your Wrangler.

You will need a tape measure and a straight edge like a yardstick or a dowel. Place the straight edge vertically against the back of the spare tire, letting it extend below the trailer hitch receiver opening. Then measure from the center of the hitch pin to the straight edge. This will give you the distance you need to clear the spare tire. I have attached a link to a helpful article that explains how to measure if you want to check it out.

The EasyFold has a distance of 9-inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the upright bar of the carrier, and 7-inches from the hitch pin hole to the foot of the carrier.

If you find the EasyFold does not work with your spare tire on your Wrangler let me know what you come up with for a measurement and I will be glad to see if we offer anything that will work for you.

Hello,If one uses a Thule EasyFold XT 2 on a Jeep Wrangler, when the bike rack is folded down, with the tailgate door be able to open? I understand a vertical lifting rear door will open but I ask because the Wranger tailgate swings open rather than lifts.Thank you.

This isn't the easiest question to answer because it partly depends on the size of your bikes. The EasyFold does have a really great tilting mechanism - it goes down further than just about any other model - but if your peddles or handlebars are larger they'll likely interfere with the swinging door. There's a good chance you will need to remove your bikes first.

We haven't been able to confirm this, but I have my doubts that the EasyFold XT provides enough clearance. To determine this for sure you'll just need to measure from the hitch pin hole on your Wrangler to the outermost edge of the spare tire. If it's less than 7" then it'll work great.
