NOT Recommended! I am please with etrailer.com and would order from etrailer.com again. With regards to the Thule single bike (FAT TIRE version) rack, I would NOT recommend it. My ebike nearly fell over while driving on the highway. I have the rack mounted on a Toyota Tacoma and the plastic cup which is designed to hold the front tire, does not hold a 4 inch Fat Bike tire very well. It appears wind is catching the front edge of the tire and the wheel turns and then pops out. This happened to me on the highway. I had noticed the issue developing after a previous drive a highway speeds, so fortunately I had placed a couple safety cables onto the bike. The newer version by Thule may be ok, as the front wheel cups on the new version appear on-line to be more substantial. Support from Thule was non-existent (hard to reach). Etrailer.com was helpful. I provided them a photo taken from along side the highway showing the bike hanging over. If you are using this rack I suggest you block the wheel so it can turn and pop out and put an extra safety strap / bungies to ensure the bike stays in place. I wanted to love this rack but I don't like the stress it has caused and the lack of support was disappointing. I'm glad I purchased via etrailer.com as they were helpful when the OEM was not. 817944
I can not ask for a better bike rack. I have a fat tire electric bike which is a out 60 lbs. This rack holds it with ease. I feel though that the rear tire chock strap could use about 3 to 5 more inches of length just to give better length of grip around the tire. I have to place a cargo strap over the rear tire to lock it down. Overall a great product. 816285
The product was as stated and I love it. I could have bought this on other sites but didn't due to all the information etrailer provides you with on all their products. Expert and truthful reviews, fantastic Q&As that provide the links to accessories or other recommended products. I know a lot about bike racks now. I received a follow up email the day of deliver to check on my satisfaction. Fantastic customer service! In short, I will continue to shop using etrailer whenever possible. 784348
The Thule Bike Rack T1 (TH9041) comes with a User's Manual that is terrible: other than the warranty page, every step of the instructions consisted of hieroglyphic drawings which you were expected to figure out what they meant. Why is Thule using hieroglyphics in its Manual is beyond me, since most people can read English, the language of it's previous user manuals. Frankly, even English-language user manuals coming out of China do a better job at communicating instructions than this product's manual. I also had a pet-peeve with the pull-out locking cable. My complaint was that the unit I received appeared to be missing part of the black rubber that covers/protects the pull-out cable precisely at the spot where the user would apply pressure with his/her fingers for wrapping the cable around the bike (pic attached). In time, a review of the pics in the ad revealed that this appears to be the way the rack was designed by Thule. The reason, if there is one, isn't yet obvious to me. A second question I had was about what appeared to be a third lock in the rack. If locks #1 and #2 are one at [1] the bolt that secures the rack to the hitch and one at [2] the lock that secures the pull-out cable so it can secure the bike to the rack, there is a third lock that is located at the J hook (pic2). There's absolutely nothing on the User's Guide (not even in its hieroglyphic drawings) that refers to this lock - let alone how to use it. It would had been better is the existence and use of this 3rd lock was explained somewhere. I had a similar hitch-mounted rack before but it accommodated 2 bikes. I needed to replace that rack because it was already showing signs of deterioration, but at the same time I no longer needed a rack for 2 bike, but only one. This rack will allow me to take my bike to the local trail about 15 minutes away, on a rack lighter that my older 2-bike rack. a lighter rack was also important to me so I can spend less energy removing it prior to going thru the car wash. 777210
Well constructed hitch. Problem is that with hitch either in raised position or with a bike on the carrier, the rear hatch will NOT open. Vehicle is a 2020 Porsche Cayenne. Rear hatch can only be used when no bike on hitch and hitch in lowered position. Did not have this problem with a competitor's hitch on my old Volvo. Instructions could be clearer as initially installed upside down. Could use more photos in instructions. 711943
Great single bicycle carrier. I had a hatch mounted carrier before this one. A well needed solution to the hatch style carrier. Used it for a "27.5 plus" MTB and also a 29er. Worked fine for both. You may need a longer strap for the rear wheel if transporting a "plus" MTB. You will need a longer strap is transporting a "fat tire" MTB. If you will never carry a 2nd bike, this is a great carrier. If there is a chance you will take 2 bikes, get the 2 bike carrier. Upgrading the single carrier to a dual carrier isn't practical. There have been times that I wanted to ride with a friend and bring their bike. But a 2 bike carrier would be needed. Highly recommended single bike carrier. Bolt that holds carrier to car hitch requires a special wrench (included) deters theft. Carrier folds up easily when not in use. 585246
What I didn't know was I needed to know the precise length of the bike I intend to haul so it doesn't hang too much to one side or the other. That is good and bad. Since I was told this was the only choice for a 2015 Mustang. This is what I'm stuck with. Better than nothing for a heavy E mountain bike. 563735
