Lightest Weight High Quality 4 Bike Rack to Replace a Thule T2 Pro XTR

Updated 07/22/2026 | Published 07/18/2026

Question:

I currently have a Thule T2 four bike rack. Is there a four bike rack that significantly lighter. The Thule is a great rack, but it’s incredibly heavy. What’s the highest quality 4 bike rack you have that weighs the least Thank you, John McGillicuddy

Hi John, I totally understand. The Thule T2 Pro XTR part # TH69TX is a fantastic rack, but at 96 pounds it's definitely a workout every time you put it on or take it off the vehicle.

If your main goal is to cut as much weight as possible, the Hollywood Racks Destination 4, Part # HR4000, is the lightest 4 bike rack we carry at just 42 pounds. That's less than half the weight of your Thule. The tradeoff is that it holds the bikes by the frame and has a 35 pound per bike capacity, so it isn't the best choice if you have heavier bikes, e-bikes, or carbon fiber frames.

If you want something that still feels like a premium rack but is noticeably lighter than your Thule, I'd take a hard look at the Saris SuperClamp G4, Part # SAR69XR. It weighs just 65 pounds, has no frame contact, works with bikes that have fenders, and its aluminum construction keeps the weight down without sacrificing strength. It also carries up to 60 pounds on each of the two inner trays and 35 pounds on each of the outer trays, so it's a much better fit if you're carrying heavier bikes.

Out of curiosity, what kind of bikes are you carrying most often? Standard bikes, mountain bikes, or e-bikes? Do they have carbon fiber frames?
