Thule T2 Pro

The Thule T2 Pro XTB platform-style bike rack lets you carry 2 bikes using your vehicle's hitch. It is designed to carry bicycles of varying sizes and styles, and it can hold bikes with fat tires up to 5" wide. The bike trays adjust to optimize bike spacing and reduce bike-to-bike contact. The ratcheting arms and wheel trays secure your bikes by the wheels so there's no frame contact. The rack installs easily without the need of tools with the AutoAttach system. And the front-mounted HitchSwitch lever allows the rack to easily tilt down with bikes loaded for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area and fold up when not in use. Finally, the rack includes One-Key System lock cylinders to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

Wheel-Mount Design for Easy Bike Loading

Thule T2 Pro ratcheting arms

The rack allows you to quickly and easily load and carry 2 bicycles on the back of your vehicle. The ratcheting arms securely hold your bikes by the front wheels so there's no frame contact. Simply push the button on the hook and slide it firmly into place over your front wheel.

Thule T2 Pro ratcheting arms

The wheel hook also has a cutout on the side so it won't interfere with fat bike suspensions.

Sliding Rear-Wheel Cradles

Thule T2 Pro sliding rear-wheel cradles

The sliding rear-wheel cradles allow the rack to accommodate bikes with wheelbases up to 50-1/2" long, and they accommodate tires up to 5" wide. The cradles include ratcheting, rubber straps to hold your bikes' rear wheels securely in place on the tray.

Thule T2 Pro sliding rear-wheel cradles for fat bikes

For fat bikes, the strap needs to be removed from the bottom of the cradle and re-routed up through the side. This increases the usable length of the strap to secure wider tires.

Adjustable Bike Trays

Thule T2 Pro adjustable trays

The front and back bike trays adjust 3" side-to-side to ensure you have enough space when loading your bikes. Just loosen the 4 bolts where the tray attaches to the bottom of the rack, slide the trays left or right to achieve the desired spacing, and then tighten the bolts. This will prevent your bikes' handlebars from becoming tangled, and it eliminates the fear of bike-to-bike contact during transport.

Front-Mounted HitchSwitch for Easy Tilting

Thule T2 Pro tilt down

The front-mounted HitchSwitch lever allows one person to easily tilt the T2 Pro XTB. The rack tilts down with or without bikes loaded for convenient access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Thule T2 Pro tilt up

The lever also lets you fold the rack up for storage when you're not transporting a bike. This is great for parking in places where space is limited such as a parking garage.

Easy Installation with AutoAttach System

Thule T2 Pro installation

The T2 Pro XTB installs quickly and easily with the AutoAttach system. Simply open the Auto Pin, slide the shank into your receiver, and close the pin so it slides through the pin hole and shank.

Once installed, turn the hand knob underneath the rack to tighten the shank in your receiver. This will reduce noise and movement while the rack is installed.

Complete Security

Thule T2 Pro locking system

The rack comes with One-Key System lock cylinders to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. Integrated cable locks extend from the ends of the wheel hooks and wrap around your bikes' frames to lock them to the rack.

Thule T2 Pro locking system knob

The hand knob also comes with a lock cylinder to keep the rack from being removed from your hitch. One-Key System cylinders can be swapped out to make all of your Thule gear keyed alike.

Optional 2-Bike Add-On

Thule T2 Pro 2-bike add-on

There is a 2-bike add-on available (TH9036XT - sold separately) for the T2 Pro XTB that will allow you convert it from a 2-bike carrier to a 4-bike carrier. To install the add-on, simply remove the HitchSwitch lever from the end of the T2 Pro XTB, slide the add-on's shank into the hole on the bike rack, secure the shank with the bolts that come with the add-on, and reattach the HitchSwitch lever.

This is an excellent bike rack. It is easy to use, looks good, and hold the bikes very securely. No bouncing or rubbing at all. The lock cables are really handy to thwart casual thieves, but they really should be longer - it would make them easier to use. You can really only loop them through your frame front triangle. It is really easy to fold up and down with the handle on the end of the boom. The plastic locking knob to tighten the hitch to the rack is a little disappointing. It is under the vehicle and I will have to see how well it holds up to gravel spray from miles of gravel roads. It would have been nice to see metal parts in that area. You do have to assemble the rack. It is not that hard, but you do have to follow the instructions, which are good, but not great. My box/bag was missing a single washer, which I replaced with a silver one from my spare parts bin. The allen head bolts that hold the cradle and arms to the beams are very soft material, and it is easy to bung up the shallow allen head if you're not careful. In combination with the Draw-Tite hitch on my 2018 Subaru Outback, when folded up, the cradle of the inner holder is only a quarter inch or so from the end gate. It doesn't and can't actually touch, but it is close. The upside is that it folds very nicely against the back of my car, allowing me to close the garage door with the rack on and folded. And I can't even see the rack from inside the vehicle when folded. All-in-all an excellent rack. Give it some better hardware and longer lock cables and it would be nearly perfect. 440266

Love this rack! We have logged thousands of driving miles in the last year while taking our bikes to various rallies. We upgraded to this rack from a yakima hanging rack. I much prefer supporting bikes from the bottom which avoids any potential issues with cable stretch and bikes knocking into each other. This rack also provides much better visibility when driving (both unloaded and loaded). 561865

I Purchase of the 2018 Thule TR Pro with the Black Finish. I am very impressed with the overall design and stout construction. This is my first bicycle Rack that I have ever purchased. I assembled the Rack after installed the rack frame to the hitch of my 2018 Toyota Tacoma. I was VERY impressed with the internal locking system after placing the rack into the 2" x 2" hitch. After assembly I then loaded our Two BICYCLES . With the rack loaded with our two adult bicycles and temporarily lowered to the 4 or 8 o'clock position; and the inside Bicycle pedal in the 12 o'clock position. I am free to lower the tailgate of the pick-up and gain access to the covered truck bed of my Tacoma. The loading of the bicycles seems relatively easy. Just for an added level of load security I am going to incorporate a lower security strap to the front wheel hitches supporting baskets. And take the tail end of the strap and do a quick "Hitch" to the "Sheppard's Crook" that locks down at the top of the front wheel. Looking forward to some new places to Ride. Regular "free Shipping was fine to my home in 3 working days + the weekend. 509768

I am very happy with this bike rack. Bicycles load and unload easily and quickly, and feel very secure. The cable-lock on the front arm is nice, but as it only secures the front wheel, I use additional bike locks if security is an issue. The bike rack itself is very secure and I like the way it locks in place as well. I also purchased two Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2 inch, Code numbers 78690 and 75225. One is for a 2017 Honda Pilot, and the other is for a 2005 Honda CRV. All items were received in less than a week. Installation was a breeze on the Pilot, as there are nuts already welded in the frame to receive the hitch. The installation on the CRV was more complicated because there are no such nuts, and the muffler is in the way. The online instructional videos are excellent, and well worth viewing--especially for the CRV. Since I don't have a cold chisel, I used a small Dremmel grinder to enlarge the hole. I was looking for a hitch that would work on both cars and a motorhome, and this is excellent. I toggled through several on the web site and settled on this one because, even though it cost more, it would more simple to raise and lower by all family members to gain access to the back of the car with bikes in place. My only complaint is that it is not really compatible with the older CRV with the wheel mounted on the back of the car. It is perfectly fine with bikes mounted, but the larger front wheel basket on this rack does not clear the spare wheel on the right side when folded up. A front wheel basket with less of a profile might work. I also considered cutting off the interfering part of the basket so that it could fold up to the locked position, but I don't know how important that part is. I will use the rack for awhile first. 554081

Still working well. I see that I made an error about half way through the review. I meant to say that I was looking for a bike rack rather than hitch that would work on both cars....

I purchased an Ecohitch Class III hitch, and Thule T2Pro XTB bike platform for my 2017 Subaru Outback Limited. I did the entire assembly and installation in about 3 hours, one afternoon, with very limited assistance from my wife. The hardest part of the entire process was figuring out how to disconnect the connector for the backup sensors, and cutting the hole for the hitch receiver in the bumper fascia. The video was absolutely priceless to show how the little plastic pieces held the fascia together, and how they could be detached. I think that I might buy some new ones because they are not quite as tight when installed the second time. It was not clear from the Thule instructions, but it is helpful to have the hitch installed before putting the bike platform together, because the hitch can get the platform up in the air, and make the assembly a lot easier. I also found that the security cable was could be lengthened a bit, but it still fit, once I figured that the plastic piece was intended to be detached from the arm when it was serving as a lock. This is a very substantial structure to add to the back of the vehicle. I really like the Ecohitch, and the way that it is concealed behind the bumper. This makes it worth the extra money. The Thule is heavy, but now I don't have to lift the bikes up on top of the roof, which is difficult for us mature people with bad shoulders. And our bikes don't have a traditional top-tube, so we needed something that could hold the bikes by the wheels alone. All-in-all a good purchase, easy to install, and it looks like it will work well. I also plan to use the hitch to pull a small trailer, and it looks like that should work well, too. 476519

This is a great rack and simple to assemble. Very convenient to just throw bikes on and go. The only negative is that the box had a huge hole in it when I received it and the rack was all chipped up and scratched. I’m assuming that was caused by UPS during shipping. 653963

I was hesitant to spend almost $500 on a bike rack, but it was worth it. I've used trunk bike racks for years, which take a long time to mount and dismount, and I'm never comfortable on the highway with them. This rack is NOT like that. It's solid as a rock, easy to use, and I didn't worry for one second about my bikes driving on the I-95 corridor yesterday and today. The only downside to this rack, as a previous reviewer pointed out, is that the assembly instructions, which are only pictures, are frustrating and funny all at the same time. I watched a video online on the assembly and it was very easy with that help, but I'm not sure I would have figured it out solely on the instructions in the box. But even then, I had it assembled and on my 2018 Highlander with the bikes in about an hour. The hitch mount is superb - the "snugging" knob has the dual function of removing an movement of the rack in the hitch AND it locks, so that once it's tightened up in the hitch, it can't be removed. The rack itself is very solid and handles my wife's 50-pound electric bike with no problem. I put my road bike on with it, which is an easy fit. I haven't tried my MTB, but the rack is so adjustable that I can't imagine there will be a problem. Thanks to this rack, my wife went on a bike ride with me this morning for the first time in years because we were able to go to a nice trail (she doesn't like to ride on the streets around our neighborhood. I also tried out the cable locks this morning and they are very easy to use and a nice added feature. Some previous reviewers complain that the cables aren't very secure, but they seem pretty solid to me; certainly enough of a deterrent to prevent a quick snag by a thief walking by the vehicle. Best of all, this was the best price on this rack that I found anywhere on the internet! I purchased my hitch from etrailer and this bike rack - I'm very happy with both. 646818

Totally worth the money. I use this rack pretty regularly as I like to try new riding routes, rather than always ride from home. I dont have any complaints. Its plenty sturdy for my wifes heavy electric bike and my bike. I love that it locks to the vehicle and has built in locks for the bikes themselves. To me, the best part is that its VERY easy to put on the vehicle and take it off. Two minutes. Seriously. I would still highly recommend this rack.

I wanted a bike rack that I could manage alone without help from my husband. This one pushes my limits (weight plus bulkiness), but I am able to attach and remove it myself. I like that it tilts down so that I do not have to lift my bike really high to place it on the rack. My only complaint is that my car senses something behind it and automatically brakes. I can't seem to turn this feature off, but it is certainly not the bike rack's fault. 870535

It took awhile for my bike rack to become available from the manufacturers so that etrailer could ship to me. I did have to reorder since the length of time between my order & ready to ship was longer than paypal rules. Odelia K was very helpful over the phone and I received my bike rack within a week. Easy online tracking system helpful also. 861091

Very solid and well built. My bikes do not move at all. The directions could be better in detail and my locking screws were heavily coated in loctite. That is not necessarily a bad thing, better more than less. The hex nut Allen wrench sent with the packing could not handle the required torque for the locking screws. I made a quick trip to the hardware store and purchased a 6 piece set of metric hex nut wrenches that attached to my 3/8 drive wrench. You will have all you need for future adjustments. They send you a master key to unlock your key tumblers that are for your anti theft lock on the hitch mount and the locking cables. This is the first step, that is not included in the instructions or video. But, again, the bike rack is an absolute beast and with every dollar. I also found out from a professional rider that the resale value on this rack is tremendous if you have to resale for some reason. 829713

Absolutely fantastic 2 bike platform rack. Very easy to install and works great. Holds my e-bike (2020 XDURO AllMtn 2.0, with battery removed) + another mountain bike with no problems. Bikes are super easy to load and unload. Quality of the rack is superb. Purchasing from etrailer has been very good too. Order status readily available and updated as needed. Item arrived well packaged, brand new. Thank you! 826444

I think the T2 Pro XT is one of the best platform racks you can get. I spend great deal of time mountain biking and have experience with many different racks. The T2 Pro is very stable, very well built, and accommodates a wide variety of bikes without any frame contact. The rack is a bit large and somewhat heavy compared to some other platform racks, but I will take that trade-off as my bikes fit perfect and are very stable. Plus, since I have the 2" version, I can attach the add-on and get 4 bikes on there! You do need to be careful using the rack on a pick-up truck as depending on your tail gate design, it could contact the rack when you open the tail gate, even in the tilt-down position. For example, my '20 GMC Sierra has about 1/2" clearance when the tail gate is open and the rack is in the tilt-down position. 821975

Rack was shipped and delivered within a few days of order. Assembly is simple although the Thule visual directions can be confusing. The rack is solid and well constructed. A huge improvement over my previous strap-on Thule rack. Two people may be required to install as this is heavy and bulky. Performed great on first trip. Easy to load/unload and secure bikes. Would recommend. 771388

  • Will the Thule T2 Pro XTB Work on a 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon with the Curt Hitch C13410
The Thule T2 Pro XTB 2 Bike Platform Rack part # TH9034XT will work with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13410 on your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon. There will not be any clearance issues because the hitch pin hole on the Curt hitch is only recessed 3" and the closest part on the bike rack while folded up is 5" away from the center of the hitch pin hole. Therefore, you will have around 2" of space between the bumper and bike rack while folded up. I have attached an install video...

  • How to Remove Thule Lock Core from Thule T2 Pro XT Bike Rack
To remove a lock core from a Thule product like the T2 Pro XTB 2 Bike Platform Rack # TH9034XT the lock must be unlocked or it will have to be drilled out. One unlocked you will use Universal Change Key # 853-1251 to remove the core. If you can get the broken key out with a key extractor or with a pair of needle-nose pliers then you'll just need to order a new key to match the number on the lock core. For instance if the lock core number were to be 096 then you'd use Replacement key...

  • Is End Cap Piece for Locks on Arms of Thule T2 Pro XT Replaceable
The end cap piece for the arms on the Thule T2 Pro XT # TH9034XT aren't available on their own so the only way to replace them is with the entire tray, part # 7524703001 for the tray nearest the vehicle or part # 7524703002 for the tray furthest from the vehicle. This bike rack does have a limited lifetime warranty so this may be something that is covered under that and it'd be worth looking into.

  • Will Thule T2 Pro XTB Bike Rack Fit BMW X1 with 2 inch Curt Hitch Installed
Yes, the Thule T2 Pro XTB part # TH9034XT that you reference will work great in the Curt hitch part # C13140 that you have installed on your 2015 BMW X1. The rack would have plenty of clearance to fit and well and is overall one of the nicest bike racks you can get so I know you'll be super happy with it! I attached a review video link for the rack to this page for you to check out as well.

  • Can the Thule T2 Pro be Used to Carry 2 Bikes that Weigh 60 lbs on a Motorhome
I believe that you are talking about the Thule T2 Pro XTB # TH9034XT or XTS # TH9034XTS as they both weigh 52 lbs and can carry up to 2 bikes weighing 60 lbs. Yes, these can be used on a motorhome with a 2" receiver. If your trailer hitch receiver has a tongue weight of 350 lbs then you may just want to double check that your motorhome itself is rated for that much weight. Otherwise you just need to make sure that it is rated for at least 172 lbs as that is how much the bike rack and...

  • Can Thule T2 Pro XTB Bike Rack Be Used on Bike with Fenders
Wheel-mount bike racks like the Thule T2 Pro XTB # TH9034XT aren't the best options for bikes with fenders for exactly the reason you mentioned. The ratcheting hooks would come down on the fender instead of the wheel which won't provide a secure enough attachment and would likely lead to damage on the bike. If you don't want to remove your fenders every time you load the bikes up for transport I instead recommend a frame-mount bike rack. I really like the Swagman E-Spec # S94FR that...

  • How to Use Thule T2 Pro XT Bike Rack for 2 Receivers with 1-1/4 Receiver
In order to use your Thule T2 Pro XT Bike Rack # TH9034XT with the 1-1/4" receiver on your new Subaru Outback I recommend the Brophy Hitch Adapter # HTAD. This will provide you with the needed 2" receiver and you can use the Anti-Rattle Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 to secure it to your vehicle and reduce rattle/movement at the connection. Please just keep in mind that using an adapter like this decreases the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch by 50 percent. Just be sure that...

  • Is There a Difference Between Thule Pro XT Bike Racks That Fit 2 Inch and 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitches
While you are smart to check, there is no difference at all between the Thule T2 Pro XTB # TH9034XT (Black) and T2 Pro XTS # TH9034XTS (Silver) - both of which fit a 2 inch trailer hitch - and the Thule T2 Pro XTB # TH9035XT (Black) and T2 Pro XTS # TH9035XTS (Silver) which fit a 1-1/4 inch hitch. The biggest difference is that the specific hitch you choose for your 2019 VW Tiguan will impact the amount of clearance you have so you can experience the full benefits of the Thule Pro XT...

  • Recommendation for Transporting 4 Bikes with Class II Hitch on Subaru Outback
You can certainly secure the Thule T2 Pro XTB 2 Bike Platform Rack # TH9034XT to your Class II, 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver by using an adapter like the Brophy # HTAD. This adapter will insert into the 1-1/4 inch receiver and provide a 2 inch opening on the other end for use with 2 inch hitch-mounted accessories. The issue with using this or any similar adapter, which may negate the reason you are wanting one, is that it is going to reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch...

  • Which Is the Newer Thule T2 Bike Rack Part # TH9034 or # TH9034XT
The most recent version of the Thule T2 is the part # TH9034XT and not the # TH9034 that you referenced. I attached demo videos for both racks. The differences are the XTB model has 1-1/2 inches more distance between bicycles with a measurement of 12-1/2 inches and weighs 2 lbs more. It also has further side to side adjustability. This extra space further protects your bicycles.

  • Recommended Bike Rack Compatible With Bikes With Front Fenders
The Thule T2 Pro XTB 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Tilting - Black # TH9034XT is designed to hold the bikes by the wheels. It is not recommended to use on bikes with fenders. For that application I recommend the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR. This carrier has the capacity to carry bikes up to 80 lbs each. Many of our bike carriers are for bikes up to 35 lbs each and many of the bikes with fenders exceed that weight. This carry uses precision-clamping cushioned hooks...

  • Can 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 Tailgate be Lowered with the Thule T2 Pro XTB Loaded and Tilted Down
When the Thule T2 Pro XT # TH9034XT is tilted down it measures approximately 22-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the first bike rail. It is possible that this is enough to lower the tailgate on your 2017 Chevy Silverado but you could measure on your truck to see. Lower the tailgate and measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the end of the lowered tailgate. One thing to consider though are the pedals on the bike loaded closest to the vehicle....

They simply have a different color with the XTS being silver and the XTB being black. The differences are the...

The Thule T2 Pro XTB 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Tilting - Black # TH9034XT requires a minimum of 1-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the end of the receiver opening of your hitch according the manufacturer, but we have customers that have confirmed it will work without it. • Does Thule T2 Pro XTB Bike Rack Lock?

So once you put the T2 into your 2018 Honda Odyssey's 2" hitch such as # e98855 and the Auto Pin goes through the hitch pin hole and shank it cannot be removed. • Best Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for Electra Townie Bikes Carried by 2010 Toyota 4Runner
The best solution is going to be the T2 Pro part # TH9034xt. It's a platform bike rack that will only touch your bikes at the tires and when you are ready you can have the extension piece part # TH9036xt installed on it and it would be converted to a 4 bike rack. This will basically give you the nicest bike rack setup on the market that I know would be your best option for a 1,000 mile road trip. I attached a couple review videos for both products for you to check out as well.

  • Can the 2 Inch Shank On the Thule T2 Pro XTB Be Replaced with a 1-1/4 Inch Shank
I do have an option for you but the shank on your Thule T2 Pro XTB 2 Bike Platform Rack part # TH9034XT is not serviceable meaning you cannot switch it out for the 1-1/4" version. The only option I have for you to use this bike rack with a 1-1/4" trailer hitch receiver is to use a hitch expander like part # MT70032. However, the adapter will reduce your hitch's weight capacity by 50 percent. This is the only option I have for you at this time.

The Saris Freedom Superclamp EX2 part # SA4025F on the other hand is a very similar rack with quite a bit more clearance from the hitch pin hole to the nearest bike tray. The measurement on this rack is 12 inches. This is an incredibly lightweight platform bike rack that's made in the US that only touches...
