Question:
Hi etrailer, What is the difference between last years Thule T2 Pro model and this years Thule T2 Pro XT? Why would I upgrade? What was wrong with the T2 Pro model? Are any of the parts or functions different? Will it be hard to get parts for the Pro model now that it is discontinued? Thanks for helping me decide whether or not to upgrade.

The biggest change between the Thule T2 Pro and Pro XT # TH83JV is the distance between the bikes. Originally the T2 Pro was designed to work with Fat bikes right out of the box. The only issue was people had a hard time getting 2 Fat bikes to fit because of the wider frames to go around the large tires. So the new version corrects that issue by spacing the bike trays out so they are now 12-1/2 inches apart on center. Now there is more space for Fat bikes and it makes loading 2 regular bikes (or 1 regular and 1 Fat bike) easier than the previous model.
So unless you have issues fitting your bikes on your current T2 Pro I would not worry about upgrading to the newest model. Replacement parts for your rack will still be available.

Will the Thule T2 PRO 2 (NOT XT) BIKE ADD-ON (Part Number THL9036) Work with this T2 Pro XT? The reason I ask is that I've been gifted a T2 Pro add-on and wondering if I can use the XT with it? Thanks in advance!
