Question:
Hi, I have aThule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack. Im lazy and I leave the rack in the hitch, folded up, and it covers the license plate on the back of my Subaru Outback. I want to mount the license plate to the bike rack. Ive heard Thule has such a license plate holder, but the reviews for it are mixed, saying it doesnt mount well to the T2 Pro XTR. What plate holders do you suggest?

Hey Jason! There is a license plate holder for your Thule T2 Pro XTR # TH83JV. What you need is the Thule License Plate Holder for Bike Racks - Lighted # TH35JV. This will strap onto your bike rack when it is folded up so the plate is visible. It also includes a light which is powered via a 4-way connection.
Do you have a 4-way on your Outback? If you don't, I would be happy to help you find one if you can tell me the year of the vehicle.

Thanks Robin. I viewed the product page for the # TH35JV License Plate Holder and there doesn't seem to be any photos of the license plate holder attached to a rack. And I couldn't find any information about how the license plate would remain visible when the Thule XT folding hitch rack is folded up versus when it is unfolded down - it seems like if I mount it to the rack such that it is perpendicular to the ground when the rack is folded up (when not carrying bikes), then when I unfold it back down to carry a bike, the license plate would then be parallel to (facing) the ground, and not at all visible, which is required by law here in California. Am I missing something? I don't see anything on the product page that addresses this. Using this plate holder, will the rear license plate - mounted to the Thule XT hitch rack - always be visible, whether the XT folding rack is up or down? How does that work?
