This sleeve adaptor is perfect. My kids bought me a 2" NFL hitch cover for Christmas, even though my hitch receiver was 2-1/2" I figured I could always use a smaller receiver adaptor for another trailer that I have. Wouldn't have bought it otherwise, but it is a good fit and I may be able to use it for towing in the future (and my "gifted" hitch cover is installed).

Sliped this adapter right in my Class V Hitch works great. I'm using it with A Curtis adj hitch and locking pins. I'm towing a 24ft 10k cargo trailer with it.

Product arrived in a damaged box and had some scratches in various places. Packaging could have probably been more robust. Other than that, the installation was quick and straightforward. Unless you regularly bench about 100 pounds, you'll need some assistance. Have yet to tow with it, but it should work just fine. Much better than the stock hitch that failed which prompted the replacement. 03 GMC Sierra 3500 CC Long bed, Dually, 6.6L.

the receiver reducer did not fit my truck, the holes for the locking pin did not align. Your site said it fit my truck but it didn’t.

Comments
Sorry to hear that. This is a universal item that converts a 2.5 inch receiver to a 2 inch. Here are the specs to see if it fits: Dimensions: 5.5 inch long x 2.5 inch wide Pin hole diameter: 5 eighths inch

My recommendation for this product would be to make it longer to distribute the load along the entire length of inside hitch receiver. Also to get rid of the tabs on the front because I had to cut them off to be able to slide my hitch in far enough to line up the pin holes.

Comments
Dont use it. Worthless as far as Im concerned.

Got this so I wouldn’t push the sleeve back furth into the hitch receiver when installing the hitch. It lines up perfectly with the hitch pin holes and the notches keep it where it belongs.

Worked as advertised!! Thank You

etrailer was awesome as always with getting the product to us in a timely manner

etrailer.com has become my favorite shopping website when I need something for my truck or travel trailer. I now check etrailer BEFORE amazon. They always have what I'm looking for at a great price and the delivery times are really not too bad. I'm spoiled by 2 day shipping but I've come to appreciate the quality of the products here. Having an RV specific website makes finding just the right part a lot easier. Oh and the adapter for the hitch receiver on my 2020 Ford F-250 fits perfectly. I was afraid the spare tire was so close to the back of the receiver that the shank might be too long, but nope, it's perfect.

- C45405

Fast delivery

- C45405
by:

Not much to say. It's a hitch sleeve. Does what you would expect. I do like the little nubs on the end that keep the sleeve from sliding into the hitch too far.

Comments
Same as before. Not much to say. Its been great.

- C45405
by:

Not a precise fit. The adapter does allow some additional movement between hitch and the receiver. I recommend using the same size hitch and receiver whenever possible and skipping the adapter.

- C45405

Product itself looks great. The powder coat finish is a bonus. Biggest issue i have is that the product description specificlly says "made in USA" wich is why i purchased this item. But when i recieved item, the sticker says "made in china". I purchased what i thought was an American made product and recieved a China product.

Comments
Thanks for the review Fredy L. We have noted this and have updated our description on the product page and are in the process of updating our videos as well.

Never optimal to use an adapter, but very handy to have available when you need it. I have had it for a year and only needed it a couple of times, and this one serves its purpose well.

Still doing fine, still 5 stars.

Hadnt used yet, but looks well made. Nice snug fit in my 2.5" reciever.

Comments
The product in itself was fine, but got tired of trying to get 3 sets of holes to line up with heavy camper hitch. Ended up buying to a 2.5 shank for my equalizer hitch.

This Curt reducer (2-1/2 to 2 inch) has already been put to use. While the big trailer does take the 2-1/2 inch one, the smaller ones do not. For some reason, it has disappeared from the inside of my truck where it was kept. Many thanks to etrailer for getting this out to me so fast. I will certainly do business with you again.

Ordered a curt class v with a 2 1/2 receiver to replace the smaller hitch on my old 1 ton. Wanted to keep my Andersen turnover ball so ordered this as well. Fits great and couldn't really beat the price.

Perfect fit and great customer service!!! This is my 3rd or 4th purchase from etrailer. I also had one return item experience. In every case these folks have been awesome to deal with! I also love the online product and installation videos!

Good quality. I'll use this to adapt all of my 2 inch balls to the new truck with a 2 1/2 inch receiver.

Great product. Simple to use. I like the tabs that keep it from sliding all the way into the hitch

  • 2-1/2 Inch Shank for Fastway Weight Distribution
I have spoken to Reese about the use of weight distribution with reducer sleeves and their technical department stated that it was fine to do so but that it could have a reduced capacity based on the trailer hitch. The same goes for the Curt # C45405. But, why not just use a 2-1/2 inch shank? That would be the ideal solution and you would not have to worry about reduced capacity. I have included a link to compatible 2-1/2 inch shanks for you.

  • Do 2-1/2 Inch to 2 Inch Hitch Adapters Cut Hitch Capacity
If you are reducing the hitch size like for example, from 2.5 inch to 2 inch then an adapter like the # C45405 would fit and would not reduce capacity at all. If you are trying to go from smaller to bigger though you do cut capacity by 50 percent.

  • Adapter To Fit 2 Inch Into 2-1/2 Inch Hitch Opening
If your Class V receiver has a 2-1/2 inch hitch opening, the best adapter is the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve - 2-1/2" to 2" # C45405 If both the Class IV and V hitches are 2 inches, there is no adapter needed.

  • Recommended 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch Sleeve Reducer to 2 Inch Opening
Your 2016 GMC Sierra has a 2-1/2 inch receiver, so you will want to use the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve - 2-1/2" to 2" # C45405. There is no such thing as a 2-3/4 inch receiver tube, so I'm guessing you measured on a slight angle or included a portion of the collar. This reducer will allow you to use all your 2 inch accessories like a bike rack, ball mount, or cargo carrier.

  • Will Curt 2-1/2 Inch Reducer Sleeve Fit a 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500 with 2-1/2 Inch Hitch
I went out to the warehouse to measure Curt reducer sleeve # C45405. From the center of the hitch pin back to the end of the shank is 2-1/2 inches. To the front of the shank is 3 inches. And to the stops at the front it is 2-5/8 inches. Based on this it does sound like it will work with your 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500.

First of all thank you for your business! It is normal for the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve - 2-1/2" to 2" # C45405 you purchased to have slight up and down play, and is not a cause for concern. • Is there a 2-1/2 Inch Front Hitch Receiver for a 2017 Ford F-250
The use of a hitch expander to go from a 2 inch receiver to a 2-1/2 inch receiver will reduce the tongue weight of the hitch by 50 percent. There isn't a front hitch with a 2-1/2 inch receiver available either. So instead of adapting the 2 inch hitch I recommend using a reducer sleeve in the 2-1/2 inch receiver such as # C45405.

  • Does The Use of a Reducer Affect the Tongue and/or Trailer Weight Capacity?
The Curt Hitch Adapter # C45405 will not reduce the tongue weight of your hitch. It will work fine with the Curt TruTrack weight distribution system, but it may add to the noise of your system.
