Features to know about

Protection Against Over-Insertion: Flanged Stops

Ever struggle with hitch sleeves sliding too far into the receiver, making it difficult to align the pin holes? The Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve solves this with built-in flared stops. These tabs ensure the sleeve stays perfectly positioned in the hitch, leaving the pin holes accessible without the hassle of over-insertion. It’s a simple but clever solution for a seamless connection every time.

Seamless Accessory Integration: Versatile Size Reduction

Have a collection of 2-inch accessories but recently upgraded to a 2-1/2-inch hitch? The Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve bridges the gap, allowing you to use all your favorite 2-inch towing and hitch-mounted accessories with ease. Whether you're hooking up a bike rack or cargo carrier, this sleeve turns your larger hitch into a versatile tool without compromising performance.

Sturdy Construction for Long-Lasting Durability: Carbide Black Powder Coat Finish

Worried about wear and tear? The Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve is built to last with its durable carbide black powder coat finish. This finish not only offers a sleek, professional look but also provides a layer of protection against rust and corrosion, ensuring your adapter stays strong and reliable no matter the conditions.

Perfect Fit for Precision Towing: Precise Dimensions

Precision matters in towing, and the Curt Hitch Adapter is all about accuracy. With dimensions set at 5-1/2 inches long and a 5/8-inch pin hole diameter, it's crafted to fit snugly within your hitch receiver. This means less play and wobble, so your tow is as smooth and quiet as it can be.

Smooth Insertions and Removals: Easy Slide-in Design

Struggling with installation and removal of hitch components can be a hassle. Thanks to its easy slide-in design, the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve transforms these tasks into simple, fast processes. Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve

Brad Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Curt Reducer Sleeve that's gonna take our receiver tube opening from a two and a half in to a two inch. So, if you have that two inch ball mount and you've upgraded to a heavier dutier truck and or maybe you just have a couple trucks in your fleet no worries. You're not going go have to buy a whole separate ball mount. You can go ahead, put that sleeve in place and be able to put your two inch ball, no problem. I really like that I can from my pickup with a two inch receiver to my diesel with a two and a half inch without having to get any additional equipment. Now it also has two notches on here which makes it nice and easy.

That way when you slide this in you can't push it too far. It's not gonna get stuck in there, you're always gonna have a little edge here to be able to pull that out if you do need to go back to that two and a half. Now what's also nice is you're not gonna need a special pin and clip. You'll just be able to slide this through. You'll align your holes and then your normal pin and clip will go through, holding that all in place.

Now you can see that our ball mount has seen better days as it's starting to rust but the great part about this being steel construction with that black powder coat finish, that's gonna hold up against that rust and corrosion so you're not gonna see that transferring over for a long time. And that was a look at the Curt Reducer Sleeve, going from a two and a half inch to a two inch..

  • Best Front Trailer Hitches for a 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500 Diesel
Both Curt front hitch # C31023 and Draw-Tite hitch # 65078 will fit your 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500 with the diesel motor. Both companies list the hitches as a fit for all models of the '13 Silverado 2500, among other models. I have linked videos showing example installations of both hitches for you.

  • Can Reducer Sleeve Be Used With Blue Ox SwayPro
You definitely don't want to use the Curt since your 2023 Jayco Jay Flight 280RKS weighs 6,495 lbs with nothing in it. With that kind of rating on it I'm guessing you got a reducer and extension. Your typical reducer sleeve does not have a weight rating on it since it doesn't reduce hitch capacity. For example, our note on the Curt # C45405 states that the weight capacity is limited to the rated capacity of your hitch receiver. The same is true for the etrailer # e26YR. If you would rather...

  • Adapter Recommendation for a Yakima Bike Rack for Use in a Class V Hitch
Since you have a hitch with a 2-1/2 inch opening you can still use the hitch bolt that came with your Yakima rack designed for 2 inch hitches. You will need to use a hitch reducer for the hitch so that it will have a 2 inch opening. For that I would recommend the part # C45405. You would just need to thread the bolt through the reducer into the rack threads and it would be secured. The bolt in the # Y8780022 isn't any longer than what you have with your current rack so it would not give...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for a 2019 Ford F-250 with 2-1/2 Inch Hitch
For your 2019 Ford F-250, I recommend the Kuat NV 2.0 Base 2-Bike Platform Rack part # BA22B which will do an excellent job with your two e-bikes. The Kuat NV 2.0 is one of the more quality, well made bike racks on the market. It has a wheel mount design so it won't be a problem with your lack of a horizontal frame tube and it has a 60 lb per bike weight capacity. The main reason however that I recommend the Kuat NV 2.0 is because it has a one-piece 2" shank. The majority of bike racks...

To convert your truck's 2-1/2-inch Class V hitch to a 2-inch opening for use with a 2-inch weight distribution shank you can use the Curt part # C45405. This reducer sleeve is fully compatible with weight distribution systems and other 2-inch hitch-mounted accessories. You can click on the two linked videos for more information. You will also want to check your hitch's safety ticker to confirm it is rated for use with weight distribution.

  • How to Use a Blue Ox SwayPro w/ a 2-1/2" Hitch Receiver
No, it does not but there are a couple of options to make them work with a 2-1/2" receiver. The Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution item # BXW1006 and item # BXW1000 are only sold with 2" shanks. The least expensive option is to use the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve item # C45405. This inserts into your 2-1/2" receiver and doesn't lower your capacity. It has been confirmed to work with weight distribution systems. I think this will answer your question about making up the difference....

  • Drop Shank Adapter For Carrying A Black Widow Motorcycle Carrier Lower On Vehicle For Easier Loading
I have a recommendation as the Roadmaster High Low Adapter # RM-058-4 is only designed to be used with tow bars and not a motorcycle carrier. The Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount # 325-GH-303 gives you 3 stacked receivers. This will give you different options on how much you want to lower your carrier. You can place it level with your receiver, 2-1/2" or 5" of drop. This adapter allows for 1,500lbs of tongue weight and will be able to handle your Black Widow motorcycle...

I have a solution for you, but currently we do not have a 2-1/2" shank that is 18" long. The Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4500 measures 18" long with a 7" rise/3" drop and fits a 2" hitch. Currently the longest we have for a 2-1/2" hitch is the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4700 which measures 12" long with a 7" rise/3" drop. • Why Does Use of Hitch Adapter/Extender Reduce Hitch Tongue Weight and Trailer Weight Ratings
Any type of hitch adapter or extender will have the unavoidable side-effect of causing a loss of about half of your hitch's rated capacity, both its tongue weight (TW) and it's gross towing weight (GTW). Hidden Hitch extender # HE18 and Curt Hitch Extender # C45791 both cause a loss of capacity because they change the geometry of the hitch set-up. The added length of the adapter will allow greater leverage to be applied to the hitch tube by the attached trailer or accessory; this is what...

This adapter option also cuts the tongue weight of your hitch by one third. I recommend using an extra long Brophy Ball Mount # EA40 which measures 14-5/8". Between using a reducer sleeve and upgrading your weight distribution shank, I recommend going with a weight distribution shank designed to fit the 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver on your 2015 Ram 2500HD. Using a 2/1/2 inch shank, like # EQ90-02-4800, for your Equal-I-zer weight distribution system, like # EQ37121ET, will not require adding any additional components to the system at the receiver.
