Question:

I have a travel trailer that weight around 5000 lb. loaded will the hitch extender HR26 work? I have 2019 Ram 3/4 ton truck, would like to travel with the tell gate down so I can carry my side by side.

The Brophy Hitch Reducer and Extender part # HR26 may work to allow you to travel with the tailgate down however it is enough extension to travel with the tailgate down and tow a trailer without interference. This adapter option also cuts the tongue weight of your hitch by one third.

I recommend using an extra long Brophy Ball Mount # EA40 which measures 14-5/8". I recommend measuring from the center of the hitch pin hole on your truck out 14-35/8" to make sure it clears the lowered tailgate and allows room for you to hook up the trailer without interference. The ball mount also provides 4" Rise or 4" Drop. If your trailer hitch is a 2-1/2" receiver you will need reducer sleeve part # C45405 to use the ball mount. You can use part # 19260 for a 1-7/8" ball or part # 40038 for a 2" ball.
