Features to know about

Stays Cool Without Overloading Power: 13,500 Btu High-Efficiency Cooling

Hot days don’t have to mean sweating through the afternoon. This GE Appliances rooftop system puts out 13,500 Btu of cooling power while keeping its amp draw modest, so it runs steady even on smaller generators or limited shore power. It’s built to deliver full-capacity cooling with energy-conscious performance that keeps your electrical system comfortable too.

Adds Warmth Without Burning Propane: Built-In Electric Heat Pump

Cold mornings are easier when you don’t have to fire up the furnace. The built-in heat pump gives you electric warmth through the same ceiling assembly you use for cooling, taking the edge off without touching your propane supply. The more you heat electrically, the longer your fuel lasts, and the fewer systems you have to juggle.

Simplifies Setup and Airflow: Non-Ducted Design with Included Components

No ducts, no problem. This non-ducted setup pushes steady airflow straight into your living space for fast results in compact interiors or add-on zones. Everything needed comes in one box—a rooftop unit, an air distribution box, a thermostat, and a control board—so there’s no hunting for extra pieces before you can get comfortable.

Built to Last on the Road: Reinforced Black Shroud and Future-Ready R32 Refrigerant

Travel brings wind, rain, and road debris, but this system’s automotive-grade polymer shroud keeps it protected. Inside, it runs on R32 refrigerant—the cleaner standard that meets 2025 EPA regulations—so your cooling setup stays efficient and up to date. With a total weight of 78 lbs and compact dimensions (32-13/16" long × 27-11/16" wide × 13-15/16" tall), it’s rugged enough for the road and ready for what’s next.

Video Transcript for Review of GE Appliances RV Air Conditioners - 13500 Btu Black HE Ductless AC Heat Pump - GE22ZR

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look together at this GE Appliances 13,500 BTU black, high efficiency ductless RV air conditioning system with heat pump. Now this is going to be a great option for you to consider if you're looking to upgrade or add an air conditioner system on your RV's ductless system in your small to medium sized camper. This high efficiency 13,500 DTU per hour air conditioner is going to cool down the inside of your RV evenly and it also has a built-in heat pump for those chilly mornings. Now this is going to use the more energy efficient R-32 refrigerant, which is going to meet the 2025 EPA regulations, so because of that, this is not going to be backwards compatible with any air conditioning systems from 2024 and earlier.

This will be a bolt on installation with the included hardware that you see right here. And this is going to fit roofs from two inches to six inches thick with an opening size of 14 and 3/8 inches long by 14 and 3/8 inches wide. And giving you some measurements here of the unit itself, the overall length from end to end is right at 32 and 13/16 inches long. The overall width, 26 and 1/8 inches wide. The overall height, 14 and, I'm sorry, 13 and 15/16 inches tall.

And the unit itself weighs a little under 80 pounds. So this is going to run pretty quietly for you because the motor has sound dampening grommets to help reduce that annoying vibration and humming sound. And as I mentioned, this does include a heat pump and as you know, heat pumps pull warmth from the air to heat your RV on those chilly mornings. So that is included with this. And this is gonna be a pretty easy swap for most RVs.

This is going to seamlessly install over your roof's preexisting roof and opening. The unit has been built tough and it's constructed of high grade material so this is gonna do a great job of withstanding extreme UV rays and that constant vibration that's common from your RV going down the road. This also has a black hard automotive grade polymer shroud. So that's gonna do a great job of protecting those internal components from dirt, debris, and water. And it's gonna be able to be easily removed as well if you ever need to do any maintenance or cleaning.

And then the wiring harness is tucked in underneath. So all you have to do is pull that harness down through the opening of your roof when you're installing this. And you do wanna keep the rear of this air conditioner unit at least 18 inches away from any obstructions. Now let's take a look on this side of the table here. Going over the components that's gonna be part of this. Air distribution box here is built to handle road vibrations as well in everyday RV life. Giving you some measurements, looking at the width and the length, it's gonna be 21 inches. And then when you have this installed in your ceiling, it's gonna stick down about 2 to 2 and 1/2 inches or so. So it doesn't take up a whole lot of head space at all. This black thermostat is included. We have these easy to use buttons. This is a single zone thermostat and it's gonna be very easy to install with the included hardware. We do have a really nice large digital display that's also backlit, so you're gonna be able to easily see your settings and set your settings. And then the control box is also included with this. And as you probably know, this is the brains of the operation. This is what controls how your air conditioning operates and everything like that, so this unit is included. And as I mentioned, the hardware, the air divider here. So everything that you're going to need to get this system up and running, all from the trusted GE brand, a reliable name that everyone worldwide knows and trusts, especially for appliances inside the home. You're gonna bring that trust and reliability into your RV. Well, if you decide that this is going to be exactly what you need, we would love to hear back from you after you get this installed and up and running. Share your experiences with us, either by dropping us a comment on this product page or a review letting us know how the installation went and how the operating of it is going as well, we'd love to hear back from you regarding all of that. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together has been helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

This unit failed after 9 months. I used it to replace the original that came with my RV that failed a week after the warranty expired. Going to use the warranty to get it replaced but I would avoid GE if possible in the future.

  • Replacement Heat Pump For a Dometic Penguin II RV Roof Top AC
Hey, Court. I double checked and it doesn't look like we carry the replacement heat pump for the Dometic Penguin II AC units. It may be hard to find replacement parts as all RV ACs are not using the R32 refrigerant. Because of this, heat pumps for the newer models wont work on the older ones. If Dometic doesn't have any replacements, you will have to replace the whole system. Based off your SKU number it's a 13.5k BTU. Bellow are some recommendations that are 13.5 in both ducted and...
