Today we'll be taking a look at the Camco RV Adjustable Screen Door Cross Bar in black, part number CAM42183. Also available in white, part number CAM42186. Help keep your kids or your old college buddies from pushing on your screen with the Camco RV Aluminum Cross Bar. It's adjustable to fit a wide variety of screen doors, or wherever else you decide to put it. The bar adjusts from 20 and and a quarter inches up to 28 inches long. It comes with all the hardware you need to install it.
As you can see, it's the most solid thing about this screen door. Now that we've gone over some of the specs, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. You'll need to find the best spot on your screen, or wherever you'd like to mount it. I'm going to mount mine right here so it doesn't block any of my view and I'm going to line up my mounts right with the top portion of my screen. Once we get it set up where we want it to go, we can go ahead and grab a marker and mark our holes. Now the next thing I'll go ahead and do is measure the distance between our two brackets here.
Looks like we've got exactly 13 and three-quarters of an inch. Now that we've go our holes marked and our post measured, we can go ahead and take it off and we're going to drill out our holes. Now, I'm using an eighth-inch drill bit here. We want to make sure when we're drilling it out that we don't go all the way through. We're just setting a guide for our screws to make it easier to put them in. Now I'm going to grab my handle and I'm going to measure out 13 and three-quarters, as we did before. All right, that looks pretty good.
Then, I'm going to grab my Magic Marker. Then I'll grab my drill and we'll drill out those holes. We're going to make sure not to go all the way through the bar. Once again, we're just trying to set a guide for our screws. So we can actually just take these off and get them out of the way and make our holes.
Then, we need to replace our ends and run our included hardware in. We'll line our handle back up and we'll run our hardware through. That's going to complete our look and install of the Camco RV Adjustable Screen Door Cross Bar in black. Part number CAM42183.

The first was previously mounted on our Wildcat 5th wheel and liked it so much I put one on our recently purchased Jayco. The only reason for dropping one star, is the cheap basically license plate bolts it comes with. I drilled 13/64" holes for them since they are self-tapping and one of the heads snapped off halfway in and I had to drill it out.......arrgghh! Admittedly it was cold out so the steel was brittle but was still aggravating. Then I got smart and went to the hardware store and got some automotive body bolts and nuts to mount it since I could get the the inside (see pic).
Installed the handle with ease. Wife likes it (which is good). Every RV screen door should have this handle to prevent damage as they are easily damaged by grabbing the door's cross section to close the door.
The product works great for my screen door on my RV. Its sturdy and the installation was very easy to do. I recommend this product to every RV owner.
Item was received shortly after ordered. Am anxious to install it on our RV door. Don't know why manufacturers don't install these. Thankful for your product.

Still working great. We have just got our camper out of storage and we are ready for camping season. Door handle is awesome.
This item came well packaged and on time. And after opening the package and reading the directions, I figured out it would be simpler just to follow my own instincts, and installation was quite easy and it looks great. Installation time was about 10 minutes.

After one year, the handle is still rock solid. Its nice when walking into the trailer to grab the handle and close the door quickly to minimize the chance of getting bugs in the trailer.
The screen door cross bar was a great addition to our camper and has really changed the way we open and close the screen door. However, some people still think it's a load-supporting handle and can take them putting all their weight on it to help them up the stairs. :(
We saw this in another camper and through some searching, finally found it. It was shipped quickly after I ordered it and I didn't ask for above standard shipping! It was easily to install too - the only tip I would add is to check to make sure that you have it positioned correctly on the door frame or you may find that your door won't close. We almost set ours out to the edges when we marked it - but thankfully we decided to double check the door closure before we drilled the mounting holes. Once we installed it, we found it to be great to grab to shut the screen door - no more fighting the plastic door slide on those windy days!!
Best piece of after market equipment we have ever purchased. Makes going in and out of our 5th wheel door effortless. Was very inconvenient trying to go through door with full hands of whatever. Now we can shut the door from the inside with one finger touch. We love this product and it was so easy to install.
This is our second purchase of this product. I installed the first one last year and loved it. I installed the second bar lower on the same screen door for my little grandkids to use. It's perfect for these tiny people to get in and out of the camper. It should make it safer and easier for them. It should also prevent them and our two dogs from going through the screen on the door.
The directions that came with it was... well let's say my way worked better for me.

What a convenience! Never realized how useful a 'grab bar' on the inside of the screen door could be. Too sweet! Wind gusts be damned! Easy install, fast shipping. Fantastic value!
This is the second bar I have purchased. Put it on our first camper and now on our new camper. This is a must, especially if you have kids and even if you don' t have kids. No more pushing on the screen to open or pulling on the plastic slides to close. Well worth the investment to avoid future repairs to your RV screen.

So excited for this RV Screen door handle, this will protect the screen from getting pushed out. Company was easy to work with, item came within a few days exactly as it was pictured.
Just got it mounted.. No issues so far.. Not a grab bar for sure.. But gives you a good handle for the screen door.. Good for when the door swings wide open and you can't reach the door handle.. My only fear is that someone will pull on it too hard and break the screen door.. Only time will tell..
This is one of the best things I have bought for my RV. Great for the grandkids who are always going thru the door. The bar is at a perfect height for them.
Works great, especially for closing door without actually pulling on the door itself. I would highly recommend.

Still loving it. Also put one on the door in the bed room.
The bar was very easy to instal. I now have a solid handle to close a light weight screen door. This purchase will help the youngsters have
something to grab to close the door.
Must have gadget for RV . Makes Closing of the door much easier plus adds strength to screen door. Installation was easy.

Great inexpensive addition to standard, flimsy screen door. Adds rigidity and eliminates opening the slide to grab the screen door when you close it.
It fit perfect! I didn't even bother with the stop screws for the bar because it was tight and did not slide sideways. Did not come with mounting screws. It looks greate!!
