Today we're going to be taking a look at the Rack'em EZ-Ride Sulky Wheel for lawnmowers. This is a professional design that's going to increase productivity and decrease operator fatigue. It is designed to fit most major brands of mowers, including Bobcat, Bunton, Encor, Exmark, Ferris, Great Dane, Lesco, Scag and most other brands. It's going to come with your hitch-mounting hardware as well as an adjustable mounting plate. This is all included for an easy installation as well as the opportunity or option to fit a wide brand of mowers. It's going to feature a lot of really neat things.
Right here is going to be the built-in reverse lock. This is going to keep the unit rigid when going in reverse, with the operator still on the unit. When you want to in reverse, just put your foot up here; step on this and that pin engages, which is going to keep the unit in line with the mower. Here at the footing platform, it's also going to feature tread holes that's going to provide good traction and it's going to allow for grass, dirt and moisture to fall through, so it doesn't collect on the footing area. I also want to point out that there's going to be two safety pins, one right here and one at the same point on the other side. These will deploy so when you step on the unit, your feet will go on these pedals.
Those pins extend out, which is going to restrict unnecessary rotation and prevent possible injury while on slopes or going in reverse. When you step off, the pins go down and this unit right here would actually be able to pivot around the center pin 360 degrees, so that's a really nice design. Basically, those pins keep the unit from being able to jackknife. I also want to point out that right here on the wheel well area, there's going to be an access door located on each side. You rotate those doors up and that's going to give you access on this side to the wheel stem so you can get air in there. On the other side, it's going to give you access to the wheel grease zerk fitting for easy maintenance.
It's also going to have a flexible mud flap that's going to keep debris off the operator and it's going to keep your feet away from the wheel. The wheel is going to measure 9 inches in diameter. It has a width of 3-1/2 inches and then the wheel itself is going to have a diameter of 4 inches. So the tire: 9 inches in diameter; 3-1/2 inches wide and then the wheel has a diameter of 4 inches. Now all moving components are going to have grease zerk fittings for easy maintenance.
We have one up here. We're going to have one on the sides here and again, in the wheel area. That just allows for easy maintenance. You can attach a grease gun; pump in the grease to easily lubricate those moving areas. This is made from a steel construction. It's going to have a nice hammered, textured finish which is going to keep the unit protected against extreme wear and the elements. The unit is going to come with all the necessary hardware to get it installed. It's also going to come with a storage chain that connects to this point here. That lets you hang the EZ-Ride Sulky from the mower handle to keep it up and out of the way when it's not in use. What that does is that really helps save some space when you have your mower on a trailer, and most mowers can still be operated with the EZ-Ride in the storage position. The footing area: this is a nice, large design. It's going to give us a width of about 5-1/2 inches. It's going to give us a length measurement of about 11 inches long and then a depth . Your feet are going to be protected. The platform is going to sit about 4-1/2 inches down from this portion right here. The arm itself, measuring from the center of pin to center of pin, that's going to measure about 18 inches so plenty of length; nice curved design there. This is just a quick-release pin so you can easily connect and disconnect it from your mower. The mount and adjustment plate . This is the mount; this is our adjustment plate. Those holes are all going to be separated on center by 4 inches. The plate's going to measure 5-1/4 by 4 inches. The mount measures 5 inches by an inch and a half. That's going do it for today's look at the Rack'em EZ-Ride Sulky Wheel for lawn mowers.
The Rack'em sulky is functional, but they should tell you that is designed for people with extra medium sized feet. At first install it seemed OK when wearing sneakers, but when I used it to cut my first lawn, my boot heals were hanging off the step. Every change in terrain my feet were pulled off the sulky. The anti jack knife pins kept me from turning and drug the wheel when trying to cross cut rows. Since I already drilled holes in my walk behind to mount this and the chain, I decided to cut the pedals and front bulkhead out with a cut off wheel and Sawzall. Now I can place my feet forward, perform zeroturn turns, and still use the reverse plunger when backing up. They should tell you this thing only fits a size 8, 9, or whatever size tiny boot it's made for. It sucks that I paid more for safety features that were actually way more dangerous than my old plain sulky. I do like that it's compact when hanging, holds straight when backing, and fits my feet after metal surgery.
Very well built can't wait to use it.
I purchased the Rack 'Em EZ Ride to use with my new Scag SW walk behind. This thing really increased productivity and reduced fatigue. It has many grease fittings to insure long bearing life and a smooth ride. The anti jack knife features are also very well designed. The guys at E trailer were amazing to do business with. Fair pricing, quick shipping and even a follow up email to see if everything had arrived. All in all a great product sold by a great company.
It seems to do very well for me. I do like like the standing ride quality. Going in reverse will take some getting used to. Tough little accessory.
Great product. Great experience! Ordered and received in a couple of days and was back to work with easy installation. Would definitely recommend this product to others. But, if you’re like me and don’t really care for instructions, just make sure you grease all fittings before using!
Since etrailer decided to send me a email to write a review I will. Please do not buy this sulky! It will break down no matter how you put it together or how good you are driving your machine. I upgraded all the bolts and the pins. The actual metal of the Soul sulky is very weak and will not hold up.
Very nice quality, safety options and ease of use. Easy to install. My only wish is that the areas to rest your feet were wider, or bigger foot holds. It's impossible to stand duck foot on the platform or have an aggressive stance. A option for a wider stance would greatly improve comfort and balance on hills and rough terrain.
It actually works great the problem is the tire once it pops you can’t find a new inner tube that will last more than a day. I’ve had this for over a year now and have been through 6 inner tubes and I’m not doing anything crazy and I only weigh 210
Over engineered, very heavy and awkward to use. Sold it after using it 1 week.
All around well built sulky but it's a bit on the heavy side
I don't like it very much
This is an incredibly well built product with great features. Delivery was quick and service was exceptional.
Just as described, easy to install and very well built.

The EZ Ride has been working well. I replaced the tire with a no flat style because I was pretty rough on the first one. No biggie though. The sulky has been put through its paces. I cut an acre almost every weekend. I have been really impressed with this rugged tool.
