I rated it excellent because for its simple but elegant design. I like the round type of key. By turning the locking part around it eliminated any slop. Pretty nice piece.

Lock was a replacement for an old one. This one works but the key/lock mechanism was a bit sticky. Fixed it with some lubricant. E-Trailer shipping was great and arrived on expected date.

This will probably only stop the honest people. The grooves in the shank of the pin would seem to substantially weaken it. It also makes for less grinding or cutting for a thief. If that shank is hardened to resist cutting, it will likely be brittle and snap. Being stainless steel will help that some. I couldn’t close it enough to cover the groove but some adjustment with a hammer may fix that.

This product is amazing. Works perfectly with my boat trailer and is made of very high quality materials and finishes. Since it’s adjustable it can accommodate different trailer widths. I feel safe when this is locked and secured on my trailer. I would highly recommend this product.

Supposedly an adjustable lock but only works on the largest setting which means if you have something smaller it leaves it vulnerable to bolt cutters. Virtually worthless because of this

I like your honesty. It is a sad fact that any lock can be defeated if a person is determined enough. We consider the locks to be a theft deterrent against an easy theft.

    Hey Ronald, The lock that fits onto the Blue Ox Adjustable Trailer Coupler Lock # BLU56XR needs to stay unlocked until you get it to the right place, then you'll lock it in place and be good to go! It doesn't "ratchet" on, but that's actually a good thing because it makes the fit more snug.

    If you want to trim off the excess part of the shaft for the Blue Ox Adjustable Trailer Coupler Lock # BLU56XR you are more than welcome to - I just recommend keeping at least one extra segment in place. Really the only reason to not trim it is for longevity sake. If you end up getting a trailer that requires that part of the lock to be longer then you'll need to purchase a new lock instead of being able to use this same lock.
