Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Easy to install, fits great. This is my third Hidden Hitch, all have fit as advertised. Etrailers prices are great and the hitch only took a few days to get here.

by:

Hidden hitch was a perfect pairing with our Equinox. We couldn't have asked for a better fit. The installation video was very helpful.
Thanks, etrailer.com.

Nice looking hitch2007 Saturn Vue. I could use longer bolts for the 2 center spots where the bolts are fed through the frame. The feed wires should be 12" longer and need two because the first one gets damaged doing the first bolt. Too bad Saturn doesn't have threaded holes in the frame like they do for the ends. Good paint job by Hidden Hitch and would buy it again.

Just got done installing a Hidden Hitch Class II Receiver Hitch on my 2011 GMC Terrain. Received the unit super quick from etrailer.com.Their customer service is second to none!! The hitch was easy to install (by myself). I just used my floor jack to support the hitch until I could get the bolts started. These guys know what they're doing!! Five Stars!!

by:

The hitch did not fit perfectly. I had to hammer the ends of the brackets to fit over the frame rails of the cold. After doing that, the hitch fit fine and bolts went in and hitch was secured. Some of the paint was also chipping off the hitch upon delivery. Overall, the function of the hitch will not be affected. Hidden Hitch is a well respected brand, and when I do tow with this hitch, i expect it to do its job, worry free.

I purchased the 1 1/4" Hidden Hitch for my daughter's 2012 GMC Terrain. LOVE IT!!! Saved me over 200.00 compared to same part from our local GM Dealer. The e-trailer hitch arrived in 4 days, and was super easy to install!! (Did it myself and saved another 50.00!) Like most of the reviews I read before my purchase, the shipping box was damaged and the "arms" of the hitch bar were protruding from the box. But, no damage to the equipment and everything went together like a charm!

2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Easy to install. The video said that you need to lower the exhaust on a 2011 Chevy Equinox. You don't. That made it a lot easier

by:

Very fast delivery and the quality much better than I imagine. So easy to attach it to your vehicle. I would recommend this to anyone

  • Bolt Size Used for Weldnuts for Installing Hitch on a Chevy Equinox
What we can do is provide you with the bolt size that is used to install the part # 36408 that you referenced and you can find a tap at a local hardware store to clean the threads out if you think they are too corroded. The bolt size is M12 CL8.8. I attached an install video and couple help links for cleaning weldnuts for you to check out as well.

  • What Size Thread Tap Would be Needed for Hitch Install Weld Nuts of 2008 Chevy Equinox
The bolt sizes that come with the Draw Tite hitch # 36408 which fits your 2008 Chevy Equinox is M12 for the vertical brackets that attach to the outside of the frame. It's not uncommon to need to tap out rusty weld nuts on vehicles with a few years on them. You'd just need to source an M12 tap and you'd be set.

  • Why Would Hitch Install Hardware Seem too Big to Thread into Frame
Hey Robert, so this is a pretty common problem unfortunately and the solution is to get a thread tap and clean out the weld nuts as they are currently corroded and dirty to the point it won't let the bolts thread and it seems like the bolts are too big. Your 2010 Equinox has seen quite a few winters is the issue which is what typically creates the problem.

  • Can I Use Smaller Bolts to Install the Draw-Tite #36408 on My 2010 Chevy Equinox?
Hello James, This is a pretty common issue with the Draw-Tite # 36408 hitch for the 2010 Chevy Equinox (as you saw in the reviews). The hardware kit includes M12 x 1.75 bolts for all three mounting points on each side of the frame, but a lot of people find that the outer holes (closer to the bumper and the front of the vehicle) are too small for those bolts. The center hole fits just fine since it uses a factory-welded nut inside the frame, but the other two are just open holes and often...

  • Will Trailer Hitch from 2017 Chevy Equinox Fit 2019 Equinox
We have hitches for the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox but the # 36408 Draw -Tite is not a fit because there's a generation change after 2017. Instead, if you want to keep a 1-1/4 inch receiver the only option is part # 36642 If you'd rather upgrade the hitch size to the 2 inch receiver I recommend the Draw-Tite # 76419 which has a concealed crosstube so all you see is the receiver opening under the bumper. That's it in the picture I attached. Be aware neither of these hitches are confirmed to...

  • Troubleshooting Hitch Install Bolts that Won't Turn
We installed the # 36408 on a 2012 Chevy Equinox just like yours and the install bolts that came with it did end up fitting just fine. The problem you are experiencing has to be related to the weldnuts of your vehicle being dirty/corroded. Normally using a tap like you said you tried will clean them out. I attached a couple helpful links on cleaning weldnuts for other ideas that you can try.

  • Trailer Hitch Bolts Will Not Fit into factory Weld Nuts in Frame
The weld nuts on your vehicle will likely have to be cleaned out. Over time the threads can get packed with gunk and make it seem like the bolts are too large when really they are not. Use a spray lubricant such as PB Blaster and soak the weld nuts. Let them sit for about 15 minutes and then scrub them out with a brush such as # 814092 or a battery terminal cleaner such as # DW00254. You may have to do this a few times depending on how gunked up the threads are. I have included a couple...

If they are corroded, and spraying them with a spray lubricant like PB Blaster and using a wire brush like one on a battery terminal cleaner like # DW00254 hasn't done the trick, you'll need to re-tap the threads. • Trailer Hitch Hardware is too Large to Fit Weld Nuts on a 2013 GMC Terrain
The problem you are describing is a text book example of road grime and corrosion pact threads in the weld nuts on your 2013 GMC Terrain. Going to a smaller diameter bolt won't work and would result in the loss of the hitch. The weld nuts will need to be cleaned out and then the regular hardware that came with the hitch will fit. I have included links to both a help article and video explaining and showing how to clean out weld nuts.

Redline is a trim package for the 2006 Saturn Vue. Most likely you would know if you had the Redline package, but if you need help determining if you do the easiest way to tell is to look at the exhaust pipe at the rear of the vehicle. If the rear bumper stops well above the exhaust tip you do not have the Redline, if the exhaust tip is basically molded into the rear fascia and has a cutout for it then you do have a Redline.
