What Curt Hitch do I Need for My 2025 BMW X3?

Question:

I most likely will be ordering a hitch receiver for my 2025 BMW X-3. 301 I am coming up with part number C99RV. I contacted an installer who said he could get the cart and said the part number is CMFI3578.?? I dont see that on your web site.

Welcome to etrailer, I'm glad you found us!

Yes, our Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C99RV is Curt's part number 13578, so these are the same hitch.

The "CMF" you are seeing before 13578 is most likely an abbreviation for Curt Manufacturing and is not a different part number or hitch. I attached an image showing Curt's 13578 part number on the product page so you can compare it with what you are seeing.

I have installed a couple of these style hitches before, and honestly, installing the hitch itself is the easy part. Taking apart the BMW and getting everything put back together is where most of the work comes in.

What do you mainly plan on using the hitch for? Mine has a bike rack on it for most of year =)

Please be aware BMW only supports hitches installed at the factory. I had to order my 2026 X1 frome Deutschland.

@Dutch Thanks for pointing that out, Dutch. I always love a good opportunity to go over this. BMW may only support and warranty a hitch that is factory installed or approved by BMW, but I do want to clarify something that comes up quite a bit with aftermarket parts. Here in the U.S., we have the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Simply installing an aftermarket part, like a trailer hitch, does not automatically void the vehicle's entire factory warranty. If the aftermarket hitch or its installation causes damage to the vehicle, BMW can deny warranty coverage for that particular damage, but the aftermarket part itself cannot be used as a blanket reason to void the entire vehicle warranty. In other words, BMW can say “we only support our factory hitch,” but that's different from saying “installing an aftermarket hitch voids your BMW warranty.” That distinction is one of the reasons the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act exists, to help protect consumers when they choose to use aftermarket parts. The good news is that Curt has their own Limited Lifetime Warranty. So you can still save some money while keeping your valuables protected =) I always think that is important information to know when adding aftermarket parts to a newer vehicle. I have a Curt hitch on my 2023 BMW series 3, love it. I’m not sure about no support unless it means, BMW would not be responsible for injury to the car caused by adding an after market device.
