Features to know about

Add More Utility for Everyday Hauling: Class III Strength with 2" Receiver

This hitch opens up your options for towing and gear carrying. With a 2" x 2" receiver opening and Class III rating, it handles up to 6,000 lbs gross trailer weight and 600 lbs tongue weight. When paired with a weight distribution setup, those numbers climb to 10,000 lbs GTW and 1,000 lbs TW. It’s well-suited for light to moderate towing jobs like small campers, boats, and utility trailers, or for adding a bike rack or cargo carrier for weekend trips.

Install Without the Headache: Bolt-On Mounting—No Drilling or Welding Needed

You don’t need a lift or special tools to get this hitch on your vehicle. It uses a simple bolt-on design that matches existing frame holes, so there’s no drilling or welding required. The complete hardware kit and instructions are included, and the precision robotic welding ensures that all mounting points line up cleanly. Most folks can handle the install right in their driveway with standard tools like a wrench and torque wrench.

Built to Last Through Weather and Road Grime: Powder Coated Steel Construction

The fully welded steel construction gives this hitch solid strength and long-term durability. The gloss black powder coat finish is applied over a protective base layer for superior corrosion resistance, which helps prevent rust in tough climates or on salted roads. It’s the kind of hitch you can count on for years of towing without worrying about flaking or corrosion cutting into performance.

Ready When You Are: Works with Common Towing Accessories

Whether you’re setting up for towing or adding accessories, this hitch is designed for easy compatibility. It works with standard 2" ball mounts, bike racks, cargo platforms, and hitch-mounted accessories (sold separately). Once installed, it’s always ready to help you haul what you need—no adapter required.

Super fast shipping.
Hitch could not
have fit any more perfect.
Great price!!

by:

Put it on my 2004 chevy tahoe 4wd. Had it for a year now, still works great. Just towed a trailer 200 miles last weekend and no issues.

by:

The product is great, Looks great on the truck also. Very easy to bolt on. Although I had a little trouble with the mounting holes, had to modify one of them to get The bolt in without damaging the the threads. The free shipping was faster than I expected, great job.
The only thing I would say to do better etrailer is put a little more protection in the packaging. My powder coat was a little banged up from the shipping.

by:

One year later and it still looks and functions as brand new, truck has 265,000 miles and tows cars and whatever else like a champ. Highly recommend Curt products especially ones purchased through etrailer!! Thanks again!!

by:

Easy installation.

by:

Hitch is super solid and exact bolt pattern match for factory mounting holes. Hardware that came with appears to be all grade 8. Very easy install. Competitive pricing and extremely fast shipping along with customer service emailing after order and delivery to make sure everything was good. This is my second hitch purchase with etrailer and wouldn’t buy anywhere else.

by:

The hitch fit like a charm. Took 23 minutes from the time I walked into the garage until I was finished and going back in the house. It even arrived quicker than the original estimate. Excellent customer service and a great product.

Thanks for the photo, i also have a step bumper and can not find a hitch receiver for it, well not till now!!! Thanks a lot!

by:

Fast shipping, well packed, great price, excellent customer support and communication from trailer team.

This is my second trailer hitch from etrailer/Curt.

The fit and quality are top notch.

(TIP)
Take your time if aligning and installing the product by yourself. Lay out all parts and tools before starting.

by:

Was very pleased to see the trailer hitch show up today, just like you told me. Took about 20 minutes to install ( mainly because I had to walk to and from my shop to get the right socket a couple of times) Fit like a "glove". I've been a fabricator (metal) and owned my own shop for thirty-some years, and was going to build one myself.I think the smartest decision I made was to purchase your hitch instead of doing it myself. Thanks for the all around great job!

by:

I have used etrailer several times and everything has installed easily, without issues. The RAV4 and Tahoe Z71 hitches and wiring harnesses fit & operate perfectly. The etrailer staff are knowledgeable and provide reliable options to meet your needs. Thank you!

by:

I ordered the curt class 3 hitch and Hopkins 7 blade/4 flat wiring kit with bracket on a Thursday at 2:00 pm at etrailer's shop. Friday morning at 10 am I just got my old hitch off and the ups guy shows up with the parts...perfect timing! I had it on in 20 minutes it was so incredibly easy. A second person would have been helpful to support the weight of the hitch while you're bolting it up. I just used an old sprinkler valve box to set it on. Drilled 2 holes in the bumper for the bracket and ran the self tapping screws in then hooked my factory harness to the adapter and done! Love etrailer and their products and their service. Always helpful, friendly and there if you need them. I'll try to send pics of the install later.

by:

Did not fit. Only after I got it did I figure out that it was wrong for a small percentage of cars. I have to say that etrailers customer service is awesome. They called Curt then called a competitor to check fitment of there product to make sure it would work. Shipped out a replacement at no cost and took back the other hitch. I have used them in the past and will use them again. Great company that will stand behind there product!!!

by:

Product shipped on time and in perfect condition - just as described. High quality hitch, after being abused on Vermont roadways for a year it is strong and durable as ever, I tow a light trailer a few times a week with this hitch. Would highly recommend this hitch and etrailer.com

by:

The Curt Trailer hitch was easy to install in my 2003 Chevy Tahoe. We did encounter a little difficulty because my truck had been rear-ended in the past so the holes were a little out of alignment but after a few tries I was able to install it. The hitch can be installed with socket driver and torque wrench although an impact wrench makes the job a lot easier.

The order arrived the day they promised and the eTrailer.com customer service was exceptional. They sent regular updates on my order and created helpful links with instructions and video.

by:

installation went just as the instructions stated. instructions should mention it may be necessary to remove corrosion from the two bumper weldnuts & not to tighten fasteners until all are connected.

very good

by:

The product looks great. However there are two bolts that hold the bumper in place have to come out These are two of the bolts rhat also hold the Hitch. So far I have not been able to remove those bolts and will have to take the truck in to some one with a heavy duty impact wrench to remove those bolts so I can get the hitch in place. The instructions do not mention this.

With older vehicles, like the 2003-2006 GM trucks, sometimes that hardware is a little corroded and difficult to remove. When we run into this in our shops, we soak the hardware with a penetrating lubricant like WD-40 or Parts Blaster. We let it sit, and soak again. The more corroded, the more times we repeat. Then we can use a battery powered impact to break them loose. We typically do not use heavy or air impacts on frame hitches.Tapping the head of the bolt with a mallet can also help to loosen the corrosion particularly if we have had a lubricant working on the threads for a while.

Could someone tell me what is the Bolt size for the TWO bolts that are under the Bumper that hold the Trailer Hitch ??? .. The nuts are welded in but my two bolts are missing.. I have the 2005 GMC Yukon SLT... Thanks

On the Curt Hitch, C13422, there are a total of 6 bolts. Two of them are 1/2-13 x 1-1/4 carriage bolts that go into the frame and use the blocks. The other 4 are hex M14-2 X 40MM, these secure into weld nuts, one on each side of the frame as well as the two weldnuts inside the bumper beam at the center of the hitch assembly. We can help you with the missing hardware, just give us a call at 1-800-298-8924.

Perfect fit

by:

I decided to purchase this based on eTrailer's recommendation. Glad I did. I had to replace the old rusted OEM hitch on a 2004 Chevy Tahoe Z71 and this hitch fits perfectly. Installation was quick and easy, even working by myself. I recommend this product. Well made.

Excellent! I have no complaints.

by:

It is heavier duty than I thought

by:

Great hitch, super easy to install. Just make sure you have a torque wrench to tighten bolts at correct psi. Short sockets are a must to be able to tighten the two bolts that go under the bumper. I had to use a wrench for those two. Took a while but other than that wary install.

by:

Rick was awesome with updates and letting me know he was there if I needed him. The product was well built and fit my vehicle as described.

by:

Looks very strong and I like the way it tucks up behind the bumper; looks good from outside.
I took two photos, one showing how it looks from outside and one showing how that the hitch is fairly high off the ground - unlikely to hit the ground even in a steep situation.
I came close to giving it 5 stars, except...
1- I had to manhandle it to get bolt holes to line up. I know they warn that it might have gotten "sprung" in shipment - no way; this was just a misalignment of the holes. I used a tire iron to lineup holes and all was then OK.
2- The welds where the round tube joins the mounting plates were not very well made. Not concerned about strength, just they were sloppy. I expected better.

by:

Rock solid and super simple install

by:

Fast Shipping easy installation perfect fit good not buy same product locally, etrailer helpful in sending the right fit thanks will be shopping more with etrailer.

Hitch has been doing its job, I pull a 5000 Lb boat no problem . Thanks

by:

I ordered this Curt trailer hitch receiver to replace my old rusty one on my 2006 Cadillac Escalade ESV, it looks well made and matches the original pretty well except for the two bolts that attach to the center of the bumper, those holes are completely lost, the three bolts per side in the frame rails align perfectly, the holes are slotted but that has not helped enough to align the two center bumper bolts. I would probably order a class four hitch if I had it to do over again which does not use those two center bolts. The hitch looks great and with fast shipping from etrailer.

  • Replacement for Factory Hitch on 2004 Chevy Avalanche 1500 Z71
The Curt # C15324 you mentioned is a great choice for your 2004 Chevy Avalanche, but it might be a bit overkill as a Class V hitch since it's not going to give you a higher towing capacity; it would be more peace of mind than functionality so it's not something completely necessary and a Class III hitch would do the job just fine. There is a not another Class V hitch available for your 2004 Avalanche 1500. With all of that said, I recommend using the Curt # C13422, which can handle up...
