This hitch gives your vehicle a solid way to handle light-duty towing or accessory use. With a 2,000 lbs maximum gross trailer weight and a 200 lbs maximum tongue weight, it’s ideal for small trailers, cargo carriers, or bike racks. The 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver opening is standard for Class I accessories so you can easily connect what you already have.
You don’t need welding or special tools to install this hitch. It’s designed for a custom fit and uses factory mounting points to line up cleanly under the vehicle. The kit includes all the mounting hardware and clear instructions to make the process straightforward for a weekend project in the driveway.
The sturdy square-tube steel construction is precision welded for strength and reliability on the road. The gloss black powder coat finish sits over a protective base layer to hold up against rust and wear. Even after years of towing or carrying gear, it stays solid and looks sharp under the bumper.

The product feels solid and fits nicely under the fender. The assembly is not easy and will probably require two people or two threaded studs to support everything before placing the screws.
I probably would not use this to tow anything heavier than 1500 pounds but then again you probably didn't get a golf R for its towing capacity.
Bolt in fit on 18 golf r. Tucked away and hidden when not in use. Fast shipping too. Overall great purchase
Installation was pretty straight forward, I’ve had zero issues with the hitch, works as it should.
The paint finish makes it blend with the valance so it looks nice. Additionally, you don't really need to make a big cut to the bumper valance as shown in the instructions, you can see in the pictures what I mean.
I'll basically use it for a bike rack, so far I tested the rack stationary and things looked good. If something goes wrong I'll probably come back to update this review. If not then it means it all worked great.
Very simple and easy installation. The paper instructions that came with the package and the installation video on the website made it a no-brainer. I can’t attest to its function yet, I plan on ordering a cargo carrier/bag very soon. Overall, it’s very nice and inconspicuous, which is exactly what I wanted.
Decent for what you pay. Most people buying this because it's low cost or because it bolts to locations on the car that are design to take a load (bumper brackets), I bought it for both reasons. Removing the bumper cover isn't difficult but it helps to have the right wrenches and drivers to get to the screws inside the fender well. The all plastic VW "hardware" that joins the bumper skin to plastic below are garbage and strip easily so be careful. The steel bracket lined up with the holes on the car ok but not perfect, it would help immensely to have a second set of hands and you need to leave the bolts loose to start all of them even while prying the bar into alignment with a long screwdriver. You may not have this problem because who knows how great the quality control is. Regardless, I still feel this is the best most effective option and would buy again.
Does exactly what I needed it Tod. In hindsight I would have gotten a 2” to accommodate some of the heavier studs I’m carrying. Day in day out it has done its job
