Question:

Hi guys… I need a 1.25” hitch for my 2022 VW golf R. I’m new at this, but have an excellent shop, that will do the install. What else do I need … I see the compatible hitch C11412.. please recommend a bike carrier, and the other hardware I need..ball?, etc.. thanks

You will need the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11564 for your 2022 Volkswagen Golf R. The Receiver # C11412 will only fit the GTI trims for your model year. Draw-Tite recommends the Drawbar # C45521 used in the rise position with either a 1-7/8" # 19256 or 2" # 19258 hitch ball.

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118646 will give you a 4-way flat connector. This connector will allow you to operate the lights on most small trailers as well as use Auxiliary Lights # C53201 with any hitch mounted accessory that impairs the view of the tail lights.

I find the Kuat Piston Pro X Bike Rack # KU48VR is a great all-around bike rack. It has the ability to work on bikes with 18"-29" tires without an adapter and fits tires up to 5" wide. The rack weighs 60lbs and can support up to 2 bikes weighing up to 60lbs each. It also has the added benefit of being one of the easiest bike racks to use as the arms simply push into place to secure the bikes by their tires. Finally, it does have lights built into the rack to ensure other drivers have additional lights they can see with the rack loaded or folded up.
