I am very satisfied with my product (curt) trailer hitch. I'm even more impressed with etrailer customer service. The customer representative was very knowledgeable about my vehicle application. She made useful suggestions and made sure the product was shipped to me in a timely manner.
I will use etrailer for all my future purchases.
Great product and excellent customer service.
Thanks,
Michael
Purchased to replace rusted, bent stock GM hitch. This one was significantly heavier and made of thicker steel, and doesn't have the tube ends open to the element. The stock hitch cross tube ends are open, and a pile of rust fell out upon removal. Installation was straightforward, but be aware that the stock hitch has the wire connector bracket welded to it so you'll need to make other arrangements. Fortunately(!) mine had already rusted off so I was able to transfer it to the new hitch and secure it with hose clamps.
The shipping was very fast, and install was very easy. We had to adjust my bumper a tiny bit to line up, but other than that everything fit perfect.
Hitch construction is top notch. The problem with this design is that the frame on the 1500 suburban is the weak link and this hitch has a small mounting footprint at the weakest spot of the frame.
We tow a small Jayco Octane 161 toy hauler. Total loaded trailer weight is around 6,700lbs with 1,100lbs tongue weight. Weight distribution hitch is a blue ox sway pro with the 1,500lb bars.
Even with weight distribution engaged, the frame flexes about 1/4" down and pulls away from the body mount pucks—actually leaves a gap between the body and mounting pucks.
I would recommend looking at a receiver that does more to reinforce the frame with a longer mounting surface.
All in all, a world of difference from the oem hitch.
Hitch was easy to install. I took more time using looking for my tools than actually installing. Used the plug bracket as a template and cut hole in bumper to mount the plug receptacle. Now it looks like it came from manufacturer and it doesn’t hang low under bumper/hitch.
Hitch fit vehicle perfectly, 30 minutes to install hitch.
Seven pin adapter worked perfectly. Bracket interference with hitch frame. Drilled hole into bumper and mounted seven pin receptacle in bumper.
Good quality hitch! You could state that a electric receiver might be required when replacing a factory installed hitch, because the electric receiver is welded to the hitch bar, in my case. I have ordered the receiver from you for a separate mount.
Nice heavy duty hitch, but when installed as per the installation diagram after we install the 6 frame bolts we had a 1/4 gap on on the rear of the frame where the last 2 bolts would go on bumper mount.I called and was told no worry leave those 2 bolts out.Wish the diagram was made more clearer. This was rear mounted hitch on a 02 Chevy Suburban
Made in USA! Can't ask for better than that! My only two complaints are
1. The hitch pin is too close to the safety chain eyelets. You have to latch the safety chains before you can put the hitch pin in, otherwise the safety chains won't fit.
2. The packaging made it so the hitch arms were bent. I had to use a sledge hammer to straighten out the receiver before the mounting bracket holes would line up. Beef up your packaging so this thing doesn't bend in transit.
Other than that, this receiver is a huge upgrade over stock! I feel a lot more comfortable hauling heavy loads with this hitch over the stock hitch.

This hitch is rock solid. After a year of ownership, I love the comfort of that 1,000 lb tongue load and 10k lb tow capacity. This is so much better than stock and gives me peace of mind when hauling heavy loads
Great value, very easy to install. Replaced a horrible quality hitch.
This hitch bolted on in the exact location of my original oem hitch on my 2001 Suburban. Everything lined up nicely. I use it to pull our boat around to tournaments and we pull our mower trailer daily. It’s a good solid hitch. Highly recommend to anyone thinking about adding or replacing their trailer hitch.

Rock solid with no issues at all. The hitch will probably outlive my old Suburban.
Very heavy duty. It also raised the hitch a few inches so I drag less.
Took me longer to find a bolt that rolled underneath my jack total time by myself 20 minutes excellent excellent product
Fit was EXACT! Perfect part! STRONG! Easy to install! All good!
Quality built. Easy to install.i highly recommend curt trailer hitch receivers.
Heavy Duty! Perfect fitment!
OEM was Class III, this is Class IV.
OEM one had thin cheap paint, this has fairly thick paint.
This does mount flush the the bumper unlike the low hanging OEM hitch which I like, but you will need a drop hitch(2.5" higher over OEM)
The chain rings are a little high and you have to bend over but I'd rather have that than the lower clearance OEM one.
I did have to loosen up the spare tire on my Yukon in order to mount this. I had to push the spare forward about 1" and re-tighten it up. The OEM hitch bows outward where this is straight across. Not a big deal at all but I thought I'd mention it. The XL or Suburban models are not issue as the spare is further forward already.
The hitch assembly installed easily once I found a breaker bar large enough to remove the OEM hitch. We towed my 6500 LB boat and our 2700 LB travel trailer with ease.
Be advised that the hitch receiver is at a different height than the OEM hitch, so I had to change the ball mounts to maintain the trailers at a level position when towing.
Very pleased with the hitch as received: very rugged design and construction with a good application of paint. As advertised it did go onto the truck easily in less than an hour - all bolt holes lined up just fine. I've towed a 4,500 boat/trailer and a 7,000 camper with load equalizing hitch with satisfactory results - solid connection with no evidence of bending anything. Thanks for the good product.
Efficient service
This product was purchased for a 2001 Suburban 2500. It is very well constructed and heavy duty. The installation was simple and required no drilling. The only issue I had was the 2 bolts that attach to the bottom of the bumper. When the hitch was bolted to the frame, there was a 1/4” gap between the hitch and the bottom of the bumper. I had to use flat washers on the bolts to fill the gap so the bumper bolts could be tightened securely. That was a minor issue and the hitch is performing very well.
Transaction was excellent from order to delivery. Hitch fit and finish was great too. Problem came in when I had to mount the 7 pin connector. I called support to ask if drilling and tapping 2 holes for 10-32 screws in the Hitch tube would compromise the warranty and was informed it would. Ok. How about if i weld it on like the OE? Same answer. As this is a 2002 Avalanche, and the Hitch Is application specific, I'm sure Kurt realizes it has a cladded rear bumper. And they didn't have a suggestion on an alternative except a strap on. So, I ordered the long one. And had to modify it to fit the cladding. In hind sight, I probably should have just drilled it. This could have been a 5 star review but...
Replaced the rusty stock receiver on my 2002 Tahoe with this part. Perfect fit and WAY more solid. Had to relocate 7-pin electrical plug by drilling a hole though bumper, but this is where it should have been located in the first place by GM. Highly recommended to renew an older vehicle’s tow capability.
Looks great. Very easy install!
Fit perfectly. Very easy to install. I've had both Reese and curt tow hitches. Curt has been a much better fit.
I've had this hitch for one year and so far so good! I've pulled utility trailers and a 26' camper. My mechanic recommend a welded frame hitch vs a hitch kit due to our Michigan winter's. I'm happy.
