Hey Donald. I have a hitch for your 2002 Chevy Suburban 2500 but all of those Draw-Tite and Reese hitches you mentioned are gone. Draw-Tite bought out Reese years ago and now their parent company is going through a massive fraud investigation and filed for bankruptcy.

To add a hitch to your 2002 Chevy Suburban 2500, I recommend the Curt item # 14080. This custom fit class IV hitch has a 2" receiver and a 10,000 lbs towing capacity. I verified with Curt that this is the hitch you'll need for your 2500 model.

What do you plan on towing with your new hitch?

I am in the same boat as Donald and looking for a better aftermarket solution than this Curt hitch. Im not sure if yall are aware or not, but these gmt800 suburbans have a weak spot/crumple zone in the frame just forward of where the factory hitch and the Curt 14080 bolt to the frame. The frame has a large hole in each side just forward of the hitch attachment point and then the frame transitions from a fully boxed cross section to more of a c-channel section rearward of that and where the factory and Curt hitches attach. High tongue weight puts a really large moment on this much weaker cross section. I'm plenty sure the Curt hitch itself is strong enough for the 10,000/1,000 lb rating but that doesnt mean that the frame can handle it. The Drawtite hitch has an extension that extends forward of the crumple zone and helps stiffen up the frame across that weak zone and shift the bending moment to a much stronger frame cross section like a typical truck frame has.

@WillK Unfortunately, the situation with Draw-Tite's inventory not being available has not been resolved. The Curt Hitch item # 14080 is still the only option and looks to be it unless someone buys Draw-Tite and starts making their hitches again.
