Video Transcript for All You Need to Know About the Kat's Heaters Oil or Transmission Pan Heating Pad

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a brief look at this Kat's Heaters oil or transmission pan heating pad. This heating pad warms your oil or transmission fluid for better lubrication in the winter. Of course, warm transmission fluid allows for smoother gear shifting and warm oil is going to give you better lubrication for a longer lasting, better functioning engine. This pad is made here in the USA and it's going to resist oil and acid with this silicone cover.

And this is going to be a very, very simple installation that's going to attach to the underside of your vehicle's oil or transmission pan with this 3M tape. And so, it's going to stay very secure. And then you're just going to plug this into your 120 volt outlet. So, this has a wattage of 25 watts. And let me retrieve my ruler here and just give you some overall dimensions so you can be confident this is going to work for your particular application.

So, looks like the pad itself, we're sitting right at about five inches long. And then the width, we are sitting right at about 1 1/2 inches wide. We do have other heating pads of various sizes. So, if you're looking for something that's a little bit bigger than this, you can find those versions of this heating pad here at etrailer.com and instructions are included with this. Well, that's gonna conclude our brief look today.

I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..

I used this through a winter in the north where it regularly is at subzero temperatures. Truck always started without any issues. I also had heat pads on the oil pan and transmission that I bought from etrailer. At -40+ degrees the truck always started relatively easy.

by:

I attached it to my air compressor to warm the oil before I start it when it's cold. Works well. I plug it in about 1 hour before using the compressor.

by:

Installed this heater on the transmission of my Ford Escape. Works perfectly. Now the truck will shift into gear in cold weather. (I know I need a new transmission but the truck is not worth it) but this heater has bought me an extra year out of my truck. Thanks etrailer.

Works awesome! This is the second one, the first burned out after two years. We use them on 4 wheelers in the winter, on timers for 2 hrs twice a day. Put on lower crank case to warm oil...starts much easier. This one still working well after 1 year.

This is the second Kats engine heater I have purchased and both are good quality and durable. This is also the second purchase I have made at eTrailer.com and I am totally satisfied with the cost, the no charge shipping, fast delivery and great follow up to make sure my order was correct and was delivered. I will definitely order from eTraler.com again should I need a component or a part.

I installed this on a DEF tank in my diesel to keep it from freezing when I’m parked overnight in sub zero temps. I ran the cord along the frame rail as far as it would reach then attached an extension cord and routed that to come out in the same area as my block heater plug. Be sure to clean the surface of whatever you’re attaching the pad to in order to get good adhesion.

by:

Just received heater today.
Looks like
it should be perfect for the oil pan installation on my Kubota diesel UTV.
Hope to do a after season review next spring.

by:

Was disappointed. Their product description along with the installation instructions both refer to "self adhesive" but there is none. Called manufacture and they suggested High temp silicone RTV. Do to the location of installation this was difficult to do the clamping. Added 4 days for 2 people to the process to install.

by:

So far so good. Bought 3 for our diesels. Be sure to clean the oil pan for any dust, grime or grease. We even lightly sanded the oil pan to ensure good adhesion then used high temp RTV silicone around the edges.

I bought this pad heater for my air compressor that lives in the unheated side of my shop. I ruined two electric motors due to the oil in the compressor turning to molasses during the winter where it gets well below zero. So far so good. :)
The adhesive is solid, not peeling and the pad keeps my compressor nice and toasty. Before when I was away traveling I would forget to open the breaker for the compressor and come home to a ruined motor. That problem is history.
I highly recomend this heater, very small but very effective for oil pans of all types needing to be kept warm in freezing condition.

I own and operate a tree service in MI, needless to say the winter months are hard on our equipment. I had searched for quit some time before I found this product, it was a very easy installation and makes a world of difference, I would highly recommend this to anyone who works in the cold weather. Thank you Kats !!!

I put this heater on my RV water heater to prevent it from freezing. So far it works well.

by:

Great Product! Volkswagen Jetta TDI makes no electrical heaters. There is NO frost plug on the engine either! Installed the KAT and life is good! Starts every time.

Installation was a snap as my generator was still hot from running. Peeled off the liner to expose the adhesive and stuck it squarely and securely on the underside of the oil pan. My review is only 4 stars because I haven't yet put the product to the test, but when that happens I will revisit and revise my review. Otherwise the heater arrived quickly and was as described.

by:

Will be installing it tomorrow. I'm sure it will be fine.

by:

Easy installation and heats up quickly.

Warms up the motor on my Kawasaki Mule

by:

I haven't been able to test these out yet but they are not as flexible as I was told so I hope they work.

by:

Product works great and am glad to have them. We use them to keep bee hives warm in the winter when connected to a thermostat.

by:

Using heaters to warm up batteries on an electric drag racing car for cool weather racing. Batteries make more power when warm. The heaters work great!

by:

Used it to keep oil warm on my GENERAC generator for easier starting during winter months but the electrical connections on the heater were so poor that they were arcing and sparking like July 4th fireworks!! So I ripped it off, too unsafe.

  • What is the Max Temperature of the Kats Heaters Oil/Transmission Heat Pad KH24025 and KH24050?
I reached out to my contact at Five Star Manufacturing (the maker of Kat's Heaters), and he confirmed that the 25-watt Kat's Heaters Oil or Transmission Pan Heating Pad 1-1/2" x 5" - 120V # KH24025 gets to about 150 degrees Fahrenheit. As far as the 50-watt # KH24050, they unfortunately do not have that spec. However, he did say that it does get considerably hotter than the 25-watt model.

  • Difference Between KH24025 and KH26025 Oil/Transmission Pan Heaters
According to my contact at Five Star manufacturing, the parent company of Kat's Heaters, the primary difference between the # KH24025 and # KH26025 is the way the heating element is ran in the pad itself. On the # KH24025, the wire used for the heating element is ran in a loop, while the element used in the # KH26025 is arranged in a serpentine fashion. My contact tells me that the # KH26025 would deliver a more even heat to the transmission or oil pan, which is why I'd recommend going...

  • Can You Cut/Splice and Combine Multiple Kat's Heaters Oil or Transmission Pan Heating Pad
The Kat's Heaters Oil or Transmission Pan Heating Pad part # KH24025 I cannot recommend cutting and splicing together as it create too much of a fire hazard. Therefore, you'll need to use an extension cord with multiple outlets for this application. They are designed for use with metal transmission and oil pans so we do not recommend use on plastics nor does the manufacturer. They get up to about 150 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Is Kat's Heaters Oil or Transmission Pan Heating Pad Flexible
The Kat's Heaters Oil or Transmission Pan Heating Pad # KH24025 has a flexible silicone covering so it can fit around ridges and corners as-needed. It will work great for your application! Attached is a review video for you to check out.

  • How Long is the Power Cord on KH24025
Hey Sean! I measured the power cord of the Kat's Heaters Oil or Transmission Pan Heating Pad # KH24025 myself with a tape measure and came up with 57-3/4" from the end of the pad to the head of the plug. I didn't think to measure it, but with the plug included, I'd bet it's exactly 60". It is safe to use with a properly rated outdoor extension cord, so you don't need to be directly next to a plug to use it. How do you plan to use this heating pad? What vehicle is it going on?
