You've dealt with sloppy couplers and loose latches long enough. This coupler gives you a quiet, stable ride that stays locked in place when the trailer bucks or brakes, with no shifting or banging to jerk the trailer or rattle the cab.
The Shift Lock coupler uses a dual-jaw design to grab both sides of the 3" ball, creating a firm, centered connection that holds steady under tension. Many latches only grab your ball from one side, which can leave room for slop. This one clamps evenly and helps cut the jolt when you take off or stop. The locking handle sits up top, so you can see when it's latched. And if you're leaving your trailer hooked up somewhere, a lock (sold separately) will keep the latch from being opened, so no one can pull up and take it.
Towing capacity is limited by the lowest rated component in your setup.
If you have a recessed gooseneck ball, there must be at least a 12" x 12" opening in your bed for this coupler to work. In addition, the top of the hitch ball cannot be more than 2" from the top of the bed.

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a quick look at this Shocker Hitch Gooseneck Coupler with Shift Lock for your three-inch ball. Now, this coupler is going to give you a quiet, stable ride that's going to stay locked in place when the trailer bucks or brakes, so you're not gonna have to worry about shifting or banging to jerk the trailer or rattle the cab. Now, this is going to replace your existing inner tube, and you're going to slide out that old tube and slide this new one in, so this will be ideal for like rebuilds or replacements. This is gonna be a great fix when your original stem is worn, bent or outdated. This is going to give you a gross towing weight of 40,000 pounds, and a vertical load limit or a maximum tongue weight of 8,000 pounds.
And the stem is, four inches, as I hope you can see there. And you must have straight safety pins to go through this, straight pins to go through this, so just so you're aware of that. This will not include any hardware. In case you're wondering just the overall height or rough measurement from bottom to top, it's gonna be about 28 3/4 inches total length. And so this is, as you probably saw here, has adjustable mounting holes.
You are going to get four of them there. And these are spaced 2 3/4 inches apart on center. So, like for instance right here, 2 3/4 inches apart on center. So, you're gonna be able to dial in that ride height that's gonna work best for you. And taking a closer look here, this does feature the Shift Lock Coupler that's going to use a dual-jaw design, so it'll grab both sides of that three-inch ball.
So, just to give you a brief demonstration, I have this secured in the unlocked position to allow me to disconnect from the ball or uncouple, but I'm just gonna remove this safety pin here and slide that into the locked position. And then that's going to, as you probably saw there, that's going to go around both sides of your ball there. So, you're gonna have a firm, centered, secure connection that's gonna hold steady under tension. As you probably know, many latches only grab your ball from one side, which can leave room for slop, but this one's going to clamp evenly, and it's gonna help cut that jolt out when you take off or you stop. And so the locking handle sits here on top, so when you have that in that locked position, again, you're just gonna be able to replace the tethered safety pin and clip here, and then that's going to keep that secured on your three-inch ball.
So, very easy to uncouple and couple. So, underneath that ball, when you couple that ball, you can imagine underneath the bars there are going around both sides of that ball. So, very secure, and it's gonna really cut down on a lot of that jerking and moving. It's gonna be a nice, secure connection. Now, this is made of steel with a high-impact, matte black, powder-coat finish. It's got thick-walled tubing, with welded components that's going to hold up really well under heavy loads and rough roads. And I did wanna point out that if you do have a recessed gooseneck ball, there must be at least a 12-inch by 12-inch opening in your bed for this coupler to work. And in addition, the top of the hitch ball cannot be more than two inches from the top of the bed. Well, I think that's going to wrap up our look today. Works perfectly and fixed my clearance problem.
Great product Looks amazing! I called and it went straight to voicemail, so I hung up. A few minutes later a sales rep calls back. He was so helpful and nice. After answering all my questions he didn’t pressure me to buy right then and that stood out to me. More companies need to follow their customers service love mercy grace hospitality.
