SHK34SR Tube Measurement and B&W High-Rise Options for a Gooseneck Hitch

Updated 05/14/2026 | Published 05/09/2026

Question:

Aloha! A customer of ours is having GN to bed side clearance issues with a BandW 3inch flip-over ball setup towing a Horizon HYZ. To my knowledge, BandW does not offer a hi-rise in the 3inch ball. It appears that this tube SHK34SR is slightly longer around 11 from the bottom hole to the bottom of the tube than the factory one he currently has around 9. Can you tell me the measurement from the center of the bottom hole to the bottom of the tube? Also, do you know if a BandW style hi-rise ball exists in the 3inch size? Aloha Steve!

Dealing with bed rail clearance is never fun, so I definitely understand wanting to double-check those measurements.

The distance from the center of the bottom hole to the bottom of the tube on # SHK34SR is 11", so it is a bit longer than the standard one your customer currently has.

As for a high-rise option, B&W does not offer a 3" high-rise ball for their Turnoverball system. The only high-rise option they have is the 2-5/16" 1" High-Rise Ball # BWGNXA2050.

How much clearance does your customer need?

I would think the high rise ball (if they made one) may gain to much leverage for the BandW frame under the bed. you would want to keep the pivot as close to the truck frame hole as possible. We replaced our BX1 3" gooseneck hitch (they are no longer in business) and where able to adjust the height in the factory holes with a bit of modification. The shocker is a heavy, well built hitch with lots of adjustment and would recommend that route. Hope this helps...
