Powerful, Portable Generator

e3200 outlets

The e3200 etrailer inverter generator packs 3,200 watts of clean AC power to get you up and running whether you're at the campsite, worksite, or tailgate party. This powerful generator comes with (2) 120V GFCI outlets for safely powering household appliances, tools, and electronic devices. It features (1) 120V TT-30R outlet for a RV connection, ensuring you'll have access to electricity no matter where you take your RV or if there's a power outage at the campground. Additionally, the generator has (1) 12V 8.3-Amp DC outlet that charges automotive and marine batteries. Lastly, it includes (1) 5V USB outlet to charge cell phones, tablets, and other portable electronics.

e3200 handle and wheels

This unit has a folding handle and wheels for easy transport. Additionally, two built-in, ergonomic carry handles give you a simple way to pick up and move the generator when needed.

Safe for Sensitive Electronic Devices

e3200 cell phone

Electronic devices are made with delicate circuitry that requires steady, controlled electrical current. The electrical current produced by standard generators, however, is uncontrolled, allowing extreme fluctuations in power. And these fluctuations can easily damage your sensitive electronic devices.

This generator, on the other hand, has a built-in inverter that controls the voltage that is produced. This important feature ensures the generator is safe to use with your electronic equipment such as cell phones, computers, and medical devices.

Easy-Start Engine

This generator features a comfort grip recoil pull handle that provides easy manual startup. It uses standard unleaded gas, meaning there is no need to mix gas and oil.

Before starting your generator, ensure nothing is connected to the outlets. Start your generator and let the engine run for a few minutes to warm up and stabilize. Check to make sure the circuit breaker is in on position before continuing. Once the generator is up and running, you may connect your electrical loads. To follow the recommended order of operation, connect the device with the highest starting watts first, like your air conditioner or refrigerator, and work your way down to the device with the lowest starting watts. By connecting devices in this order, you can make the most of your generator's capacity through connecting high wattage loads when there is more power available.

Built-in Parallel Ability

e3200 parallel ports

The e3200 has built-in parallel capability letting you to pair it with any etrailer inverter generator for increased power output. You can pair directly with a 2,000 watt generator (333-0001 - sold separately) to increase power output to 4,900 watts. An external parallel kit (333-0007 - sold separately) allows for pairing with another 3,200 watt generator (333-0002 or 333-0003 sold separately) to increase power output to 6,000 watts. Additionally, the kit gives you a 120V 50-Amp 14-50R outlet. This kit can also be used to pair with a 2,000 watt generator. By increasing the power output, you can run equipment with higher electrical demands.

Economy Mode Provides Fuel Efficiency

e3200 eco mode

With the flip of a switch, you can activate the generator's economy mode feature. This mode adjusts engine speed to match the power demands of your connected devices. When using low-draw devices like tablets, cell phones, televisions, and radios, the engine runs more efficiently to save fuel and keeps noise to a minimum. The engine only runs at normal speed when additional power is needed. For example, when using a power tool, the engine will only speed up when the device is actively being used. This mode is not only kinder to your pocketbook and your ears, it's also easier on the environment.

Safety Features

e3200 safety lights

This generator comes with a number of safety features that protect both you and the generator itself. The control panel contains two warning lights indicating low oil and overloading. When the engine is low on oil, it will automatically shut down to prevent damage. If an overload is detected, either by exceeding the generator's limits or a power surge, the circuit breaker will stop supplying power to the connected devices. A built-in spark arrester helps prevent any sparking that might burn someone or start a fire, protecting both you and the environment. This arrester has been certified by the USDA Forest Service. Also, a digital voltage regulator assists in minimizing voltage fluctuations which helps to maintain a steady flow of electricity.

Choosing a Generator

To choose a generator that meets your needs, you must match the size of the generator (that is, the starting output and running output in watts) with the electrical demands of the equipment that you want to operate.

Power Demands

Starting (surge) wattage is the power a device requires at startup. Running (rated) wattage is the power needed to keep the device running. A large appliance with an electric motor such as a furnace, refrigerator, air conditioner, or washing machine may require 2 to 3 times more starting wattage than running wattage.

It is always best to start your generator with no load connected, then add each device one at a time. Additionally, a good practice to consider is connecting your devices in order from highest starting watts to lowest starting watts. As you connect and start devices, your available wattage decreases. This order of operation allows you to start devices with the highest power demands when there is more power available.

Determining Your Power Needs

When choosing a generator, knowing the amount of power you will need is crucial to your decision. Whether you are preparing for an emergency situation at home or taking a weekend trip in the RV, planning out your application is essential. The two calculations below provide power estimations that will help point you to a generator that is right for your needs.

Industry Standard Calculation

The Industry Standard Calculation is a quick and easy way to determine your required wattage. It may provide some padding in your wattage requirements, which could give you more power than you actually need, but you shouldn't have to worry about not having enough power. The following steps will help you quickly calculate the correct size generator to meet your application.

As stated earlier, you should always start your generator without any load, and then connect each device one at a time. The following calculation requires this approach to work. However, using this calculation removes the worry of connecting devices in a certain order.

1. Determine the starting watts and running watts for the devices that you want to plug into the generator.

a. Find the starting (surge) watts and running (rated) watts for each device that you want to plug into the generator. Look for a sticker or plate on each device or check your owner's manuals.

b. If your device or manual only shows amps and volts, watts can also be determined through a simple formula. (Amps x Volts = Watts)

c. List all of your starting watts and running watts as seen in Table 1 below.

Table 1

Example DevicesStarting WattsRunning Watts
Air conditioner (10,000 Btu)1,8001,200
Refrigerator1,600800
Electric drill600450
Floor fan0100

2. To find the total starting watts required, add the starting watts for the device with the highest value to the running watts of all the other devices from Table 1.

1,800 + 800 + 450 + 100 = 3,150 total starting watts

3. To find the total running watts, add all of the running watts together from Table 1.

1,200 + 800 + 450 + 100 = 2,550 total running watts

To run all of these devices simultaneously, you would require a generator with at least 3,150 starting watts and 2,550 running watts.

Advanced Precise Calculation

While the method for calculating your power needs outlined above will work, it isn't the most precise. If you aren't afraid of doing a little more math, you can use the Advanced Precise Calculation to get a more accurate idea of how much power you will need and potentially save yourself some money. Because the calculation above pads in enough power to ensure you can start your devices in any order, it may point you to a bigger and more expensive generator than you need. However, by following the more regimented, order-of-operations calculation below, you'll get a much more precise idea of how much power you need, which could in turn point you to a smaller and less expensive generator.

Again, you should always start your generator without any load, and then connect each device one at a time. The following calculation also requires that you start your devices in order from highest starting watts to lowest starting watts. When you connect devices in this order, you can start high demand devices when there is more power available.

1. Determine the starting watts and running watts for each device that you want to plug into the generator.

a. Find the starting (surge) watts and running (rated) watts for each device that you want to plug into the generator. Look for a sticker or plate on each device or check your owner's manuals.

b. If your device or manual only shows amps and volts, watts can also be determined through a simple formula. (Amps x Volts = Watts)

c. List out these devices from highest starting watts to lowest starting watts as seen in Table 2 below.

Table 2

Example DevicesStarting WattsRunning Watts
Air conditioner (10,000 Btu)1,8001,200
Refrigerator1,600800
Electric drill600450
Floor fan0100

2. To find the total running watts, add all of the running watts together from Table 2.

1,200 + 800 + 450 + 100 = 2,550 total running watts

3. In Table 3, shown below, the values from Table 2 are used to calculate the highest total starting watts required as devices are connected and running. This number represents the highest power requirement you will encounter as you connect all of your devices to the generator. To find this, add the starting watts of each new device you connect to the combined running watts of all connected devices. The highest of these numbers will be the total starting watts required. And again, remember to always connect devices in order from highest starting watts to lowest starting watts.

Table 3

DeviceStarting WattsRunning Watts of All Connected DevicesTotal Starting Watts Required
1. Air conditioner1,800 +0 (nothing connected)= 1,800
2. Refrigerator1,600 +1,200 (AC)= 2,800
3. Electric drill600 +2,000 (AC + refrigerator)= 2,600
4. Floor fan100* +2,450 (AC + refrigerator + electric drill)= 2,550

* Even though the floor fan does not have starting watts listed, you have to account for the power needed to actually run it.

1,600 + 1,200 = 2,800 highest total starting watts required

In order to run all of these devices simultaneously, you would require a generator with at least 2,800 starting watts and 2,550 running watts. The starting watts are determined by the highest total starting watts required during the calculation in Table 3/Step 3. The running watts are determined by the total running watts from Step 2.

Video Transcript for etrailer Generators - Inverter - 333-0002 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at an etrailer 3200 watt portable inverter generator. The inverter generator provides a portable power source. Starting wattage for this unit is 3200 watts. Running wattage is 2900 watts. Now this is great for camping, RVing, work sites, and really any application that calls for needing portable power. If you need more power, you can actually operate this unit in parallel with other models.

If pairing with another unit, you will need to purchase a parallel kit. Parallel kits are sold separately and available at etrailer.com.This feature, or excuse me, this model features manual start when it comes to the starting method. So we do have another model just like this one that has electric start. That's available at etrailer.com, but this one, again, features manual start with a recoil starter. It comes with a few accessories.

So we do get the appropriate oil, that's SAE 10W30 engine oil. We also get the oil funnel. We get the wrench for the spark plug, and we also get a screwdriver, so that way we can remove the access panel here when needed. And then we also get a battery charging cable and I'll go over that a little bit more in-depth in a moment. It is RV ready with the 30 amp RV TT-30R receptacle.I do want to point out that all of the ports on the unit have these dust caps on them, even the small ports and those dust caps keep dirt, grime and moisture out of those connection points when nothing's connected.

It's got carrying handles on top, so that way you can lift it and move it around when needed. Please keep in mind, that this does weigh a little bit. So dry weight is 84 pounds, so be careful when doing that. But you'll also notice that it has the never flat wheels that are made from a durable plastic and rubber construction. So you can take the handle right here, extend it out and then you can lift the unit up or pivot it up, and then push it around or pull it as necessary. And then when that handle's not being used, it folds down and really, you don't even know it's there.

It does feature padded feet so the unit doesn't move around when running. It offers quiet operation with the Whisper Series muffler. Noise level is 59 decibels. It features 171 cc single cylinder, air cooled four stroke OHV engine, that's overhead valve, for longer life, higher performance and lower maintenance. It has a 1.8 gallon gas tank on the unit, so we have our gas cap here. You can take that off and then internally, that gas cap is held on there with a chain so you don't misplace it, and it does have the filter on the inside so you keep out any unwanted items from getting into the gasoline. So it's gonna keep out contaminants. And this is a automotive-style cap, so you place it on and once you get it tight, it'll start clicking to let you know that it's fully secure. But it does have the 1.8 gallon gas tank. Uses clean and fresh regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum 87 octane. Now, on generators, the run-time varies. So we definitely need to understand that. It varies depending on how the generator's used. Now this one has up to a nine hour run-time at 25% load. It also offers clean power with less than 3% THD or total harmonic distortion. So it is really great for charging your electrical components like phones, tablets and laptops. It does come with a quick reference guide and I want to point this out because it's a really nice quick reference guide. It's poster size, so if you have space available, you could hang this up, that way you can always see exactly the stuff that needed to be done to get the unit running. So that's included and it also comes with a nice manual. This walks you through everything step by step, it's very detailed. So now, what I want to do is simply just go over the components that you see here on the generator. We're gonna start right here. So, this whole section is our control panel. That's where all the fun stuff is. This right here is the fuel valve knob, and then we have the choke button, that's a pull button. And then we also have the recoil starter. Then right here, we have the engine switch, so you want to flip the switch to the on position, pull the recoil starter to start the generator, turn it to the off position to turn the generator off. Right below that we have the economy control switch. So it does feature an economy mode that can be activated in order to minimize fuel consumption and noise while operating the unit during times of reduced electrical output, allowing the engine speed to idle during periods of non-use. And then the engine speed will return to normal when an electrical load is connected. When the economy switch is off, the engine runs at normal speed continuously. And then right here, we have the three to one data minder, that's a multimeter, so you can push the select button to show the voltage, hertz and running hours of the unit. We also have the 120 volt, 20 amp duplex connectors right here, so that's two ports. These allow 20 amps of current to be drawn from the 120 volt receptacles. Then we also have the 120 volt, 30 amp RV receptacle with a maximum full load, 30 amp current that can be drawn from this 120 volt receptacle. And then we also have our indicator lights. So we have output ready indicator light, that remains on during normal operating conditions and then shuts off when the generator's overloaded. We have overload indicator light. This light turns on when the generator is overloaded and then will cut power to the receptacles and then we also have the oil warning indicator light. When that comes on, you need to check your oil levels because the engine will not run when the indicator is lit. So when the oil falls below the minimum level, the oil warning light indicator comes on and the engine stops automatically and it will not start until the proper amount of oil is in the crankcase. We also have our USB outlet. So that's right here. This is a DC 5 volt, 2.1 amp USB outlet. So you can plug in your devices with a USB cable. We have our circuit breakers. We have one for AC, one for DC. And then we also have our parallel operation outlets. So that's these two ports right here that are similar. These outlets are used for connecting two etrailer inverter generators for parallel operation. Just keep in mind a parallel kit is needed and sold separately. And then we also have the 12 volt DC outlet. This is a 8.3 amp of DC current that could be drawn from this receptacle. You want to use this outlet to charge 12 volt automotive-type batteries only. And again, that's the cable that's provided. So this cable plugs into that port and it's got the alligator clips on this end so you can connect it to the positive and negative posts of a 12 volt automotive battery.Down here we have our ground terminal and then again, everything has the outlet covers when it comes to the control panel. We have our carrying handles up top. We have our fuel cap, recoil starter, never flat wheels. Right here, we have the maintenance cover, okay So behind this we have the oil filler access, as well as air filter access. Back here we have the nice vented design and we have the muffler and spark arrestor. So overall, it's a nice unit for what it is. It's a compact design so we're looking at about 23 and 1/4 inches long, by 18 inches tall, by 17 and 7/8ths inches wide. The rated AC voltage is 120 volts. Rated frequency is 60 hertz. That's gonna do it for today's look at the etrailer 3200 watt manual start portable inverter generator.

I have right at 5 hours on it as of today. In the AM I'll fire it up for about ten minutes and then change oil to full synthetic. We have yet to hit the road with it however we've been "camping" here at the house to work out any bugs so that when we do travel we won't forget anything. We have a 2019 Jayco 212 QB that has a 13,500 K ac, microwave, plus the other standard RV stuff. The generator powers both the ac and the microwave simultaneously without issue. We were surprised at how quiet the unit is even when it powers up to handle the ac cycling on. Able to sleep without interruption. All in all a great unit at a great price. My neighbor has a Honda which won't handle his AC so I expect he'll be ordering one sooner or later. Almost forgot to mention the 30 amp RV outlet, what a plus that is. 636148

Review from a similar etrailer etrailer Generator Manual in Generators

One of the two generators in this kit did not have an air filter element in it. Glad I took the air filter cover off and checked before running it. Seems like good quality product. Parallel wires are very small diameter. I will have to check parallel operations to know if that feature works as advertised. Each of the two generators start easy, run quiet, and support 1600 watts with ease. 569803

Review from a similar etrailer etrailer Generator Manual in Generators

I received my Generator extremely fast. (3 days from order date). I haven't taken it camping with me yet but I did add the oil it came with and added gas and started it. It started on the 5th pull. I plugged a toaster into it and that worked fine. I will see how the 30 amp part of it works next week with my camper on the trout streams. 654210

This will give you enough power to start and run the air conditioner as well as power...

  • Effect on Engine & Transmission Temperature from Using Front Hitch and Hitch Cargo Carrier
  • Using a front hitch like Curt # C31078 along with a hitch carrier like # C18153 is a great way to add cargo capacity when your truck bed and rear hitch are already spoken for. The cargo items you describe wanting to load in a front-hitch-mounted cargo carrier - a tool box, generator and gas cans - all could present a lot of flat surface area that could block air flow. Some generators like # 333-0005 have an open-frame design while others such as # 333-0002 have enclosures that would...

  • Generator to Power 13,500 btu Air Conditioner
  • The etrailer 3,200-Watt Portable Inverter Generator # 333-0002 may be enough to power the 13,500 btu AC in your trailer but you need to know the starting watts and running watts of your AC. Inverter Generator # 333-0002 has a starting power output of 3,200 watts and a running power output of 2,900 watts so if your AC is at or below those levels this generator will work.

  • Can etrailer Inverter Generators Run Parallel
  • You can run a single etrailer 2,000-Watt Portable Inverter Generator # 333-0001 parallel to your Firman WO2981 inverter generator, which is similar to the etrailer 3,200-Watt Portable Inverter Generator # 333-0002 but not to the dual etrailer Inverter Generators # 333-0001-2. If you wanted more power you could also run your generator to the etrailer 3,200-Watt Portable Inverter Generator # 333-0002 by using the Parallel Power Kit for etrailer Inverter Generators # 333-0007

  • Does etrailer 4,500-Watt Portable Generator Produce Pure Sine Wave for Sensitive Electronics
  • I reached out to the manufacturer who said the etrailer 4,500-Watt Portable Generator # 333-0005 can run electronics like stereos and televisions but is not pure sine wave. I was told a better sine wave for sensitive electronics will come from an inverter generator because what an inverter does is control the voltage that is produced from the generator, making it safe for your devices. The etrailer 3,200-Watt Portable Inverter Generator - 2,900 Running Watts # 333-0002 is a great...

  • How Large of a Battery is Needed to Keep Power Tools Running?
  • In regards to a battery of choice, there is not one style in particular; the 12V with the largest amp hours that fits where you are mounting it is your best option. I took a look at the D3100 you referenced and the specs said it gave 110 amp hours, which is pretty hefty. The only other thing you can do, if a battery with a lot of amp hours isn't getting the job done, is use a portable generator such as # 333-0002.

  • Compatibility of etrailer Inverter Generators for Amateur Radio Equipment
  • The etrailer 3,200-Watt Portable Inverter Generator - 2,900 Running Watts - Gas - Manual Start # 333-0002 is a great option for remote or backup power. Our generators and inverters are made by Firman and are safe for electronic devices like your radio equipment that requires steady, controlled electrical current. As you stated many of the less expensive generators are not made for the steady current of electronics causing issues like you stated. That won't be the case for our Inverter...
