This Curt Double Lock Gooseneck Hitch is made to handle serious towing. With a gross towing weight of 30,000 lbs and a vertical load limit of 7,500 lbs, it’s built for hauling heavy trailers without flex or rattle. The sturdy underbed design and dual-pin locking system give you a solid, stable connection when moving livestock, equipment, or a large fifth wheel.
The double-lock feature gives you extra peace of mind by using two pins instead of one to hold the chrome-plated 2-5/16" ball in place. The handle in the wheel well makes locking and unlocking smooth and quick, so you can secure the ball or release it without climbing into the bed. A tight chrome ring surrounds the ball opening for a low-profile finish, and the built-in safety-chain hookups keep everything tidy and easy to reach.
When the trailer’s off, just flip the ball upside down and drop it back into the hitch for storage. The below-the-bed setup keeps the truck bed flat and clear so you can haul gear, tools, or feed without working around a hitch. The included rubber cover seals the opening to keep dirt and grime out while giving your bed a clean look.
This kit comes complete with custom mounting brackets and Grade 8 hardware for a solid bolt-on install—no welding required. You’ll need to drill a 4" hole in the bed for the hitch ball, but everything else fits neatly under the bed using existing frame points. It’s designed so you can take on the install yourself with standard tools in your garage or shop.

A Year and ... I still stand by my original posting regarding these two products! I will say that before every trip, I double check the torque on all connecting points. Its a must do for both safety reasons and peace of mind while traveling. On occasion, the coupling front pair of set screws set @ 40ftlbs on the coupling portion of the Ultimate Hitch have loosened from their 40 ftlb setting. A quick check and never more than a small pull of the torque wrench and were back in business. Weve pulled many setups since 2006, and this setup is, in my opinion, still the best and most comfortable pulling experience weve ever had while pulling our 5th. Happy hauling and camping!

Thank you for your review. I have contacted Curt about the gooseneck ball getting stuck in the stored posistion. They suggest to go underneath the truck and to clean and apply liberal amounts of lubricant on all of the moving parts of the underside of the gooseneck hitch. Try to pull the lever to free the ball. If the ball comes free make sure to clean the cavity where the ball is stored. This cavity can become full of dirt and grime which can cause the ball to become stuck. If you are still not able to free the ball, then you can also unscrew the chrome ring from the top of the hitch and remove the ball. Then make sure the cavity and the ball is properly lubricated with a grease such as part #L10337 before reinstalling the ball.

Since installing the hitch Ive used it for up to a 24 horse trailer, full of horses. No problems, the ball still slides in and out easily hasnt rusted in place, the release lever still functions great, all systems go!
