Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Arrived promptly. Mounted easily after removing skid plate. Took about an hour to mount. Was able to mount skid plate back on my truck. Great product.

Alls good works as expected

2004 Toyota Sequoia

My order was delivered very promptly, within 3 days of my on-line purchase!
Hitch was very easy to install and fit perfectly with holes in the car. Existing bolts for tie down hooks on my car were easily removed using my breaker bar. I was able to install the hitch by myself on my driveway using a floor jack to raise the hitch into position and using jack stands on both sides for stability. Drilling the extra holes was a little more challenging due to difficulty in leverage to maintain drill pressure while lying on the driveway under the car, but was able to complete satisfactorily. Would recommend driving the car up on ramps to improve drilling leverage.
Also was able to reinstall the skid plate after hitch was installed (only center front bolt of skid plate could not be accessed for installation).
All in all, very happy with the new hitch and etrailer service. Wish I had purchased this product years ago.

etrailer did their usual great job in making it easy to shop and purchase the right product for my vehicle. The Reese hitch fits my 2003 Tundra perfectly. Only two holes had to be drilled and that was easily accomplished.
I chose to keep the skid-plate on the truck. This will make service just slightly more difficult but I felt the protection was worth it.
The only suggestion that I have is to sharpen the 1/2 in. bolts slightly to ease installation into the handle nuts. This is easily accomplished by first threading a nut onto the bolt , to clean threads after the grind. Then just grind a small taper on the first couple of threads and remove the nut to clean any burrs off the threads. The bolt easily self aligns into the handle nuts. As you can see this hitch fits perfectly and allows the maximum ground clearance while providing good receiver location.

Installation of front receiver hitch on an 02 toyota sequoia was extremely easy, did it by myself and a floor jack. The only thing is that I wish they would use stainless steel replacement bolts instead of the low level zinc bolts. That is why i did not give 5 stars

I called to order this unit and they were extremely helpful in making my selection

Perfect fit, and I was able to retain the factory skid plate on my 2003 Toyota Sequoia 4wd!

A year later, still holding strong!

by:
2005 Toyota Sequoia

Great! However, when mounting to a 2005 Toyota Sequoia I had to ream the holes out on the Draw-Tite Hitch receiver about 1mm or less so that the holes aligned with my frame bolt/nut holes. It's possible with the right pry bar and leverage one could "stretch" the Draw-Tite hitch so the bolts could be inserted.

other notes: the Draw-Tite PERFECTLY "rests" up against the plastic bumper under side, which means maximum clearance in the front. (you actually draw the hitch pressing against the plastic as you tighten the bolts) The opening of the 2 inch square sets back from the front of the bumper by about 2", - that is neither good or bad, depends on what your use is. See photos.

The flexed hitch can potentially be pried to fit without filing the holes. Also, your photos are not showing up so please retry.

I can’t believe the difference in parking my trailer. It was very challenging prior to installing the front hitch. The installation was painless and the directions were thorough.

A well constructed hitch. A piece of cake to put it on. Now I can guide my trailer into a tight spot in my back yard. Also able to my bike rack up front when I'm pulling my trailer.

This front hitch receiver looks very strong. It was very easy to install. I plan to put a "homeowners" snow plow on it.

  • Availability of Bolt-On Front Mount Hitch for 2003 Toyota Tundra
For a front mount hitch on your 2003 Toyota Tundra I recommend the Draw-Tite # 65031. It features a bolt-on installation and has a 9,000 lb line pull, 500 lb vertical load, and 5,000 lb gross trailer weight. This hitch will be perfect for moving your trailer around in tight parking spaces. It also comes with a limited lifetime warranty. I have added an installation video below for your reference.

  • Front Hitch Recommendation for a 2002 Toyota Tundra
Both the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch # 31180 and the Draw Tite Front Hitch # 31180 that you referenced would be excellent choices for your 2002 Toyota Tundra. I would probably go with the Curt hitch only because it has been reviewed more times and has the same 5 star rating as the Draw-Tite and its a little more economically priced and has the same capacities. I attached an install video for this product for you to check out also.

  • Availability of Front Hitch Receiver for 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser
We show no confirmed fits for a front-mount hitch for your 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser. The part you referenced, Draw-Tite 2-Inch Hitch # 65031, does not fit the Land Cruiser. I checked directly with Curt and confirmed no front-mount hitches are offered for your 2002 Land Cruiser. I also checked with Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch with the same results. Any hitch installed in a manner different than that intended by its manufacturer will have an unknown capacity and could easily pose safety concerns....

  • Front Mounted Receiver Recommendation for 2004 Toyota Tundra
Unless you drive your Tundra pretty aggressively off-road, I would not be terribly concerned about removing that skid plate. I examined the instructions for the Curt Front Mounted Receiver, and the access hole the instructions refers to is not too far rearward of the hole that the bolt needs to go through. The bolt leader included with the receiver is actually a pretty ingenious way to get that bolt and block washer through the frame to where it is needed. Although we do not have an install...

  • Does Skid Plate have to be Removed or Any Trimming to Install a Front Hitch on 2006 Toyota Sequoia
For the Draw-Tite front mount hitch, # 65031, the skid plate will have to be permanently removed to install the hitch. You would also need to drill two holes in the frame rails (one on each side for the rear most hitch attachment points). I have included a link to the installation details and a video install on a similar vehicle below. I spoke with my contact at Curt about their front mount hitch, # 31180. To install it, you will not have to remove the skid plate. You will need to enlarge...

  • Does Skid Plate have to be Removed to Install Front Hitch on a 2007 Toyota Sequoia
Apparently the skid plate on the 2007 Toyota Sequoia will interfere with the proper installation and placement of front mount trailer hitch # 65031. You might be able to modify it and reinstall it but I cannot confirm that. The installation instructions are the same for the Tundra and Sequoia and if there was a difference, such as the skid plate having to be removed on one and not the other, they would specify it in the instructions.

  • Does Skid Plate Have to be Removed to Install Draw-Tite Front Hitch on 2005 Toyota Tundra
According to the installation instructions, yes, the skid plate does need to be removed in order to install the Draw-Tite front hitch on your 2005 Toyota Tundra: - Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 65031 I did see the customer photo and review that mentioned they left the skid plate on an '03 Tundra, so it is possible, but it is not something we have done so I can't say specifically if this will work the same on your '05 Tundra. We do always recommend following the manufacturer's...

  • Does Front Skid Plate have to be Removed to Install Front Mount Trailer Hitch on 2006 Toyota Tundra
The Draw-Tite front mount hitch # 65031 requires removing the front skid plate for installation. See instructions and video links I have linked for this hitch. On front mount hitch # 31180 you should not have to remove the skid plate. The 2001 model we installed it on did not require removing the skid plate and the installation instructions make no reference to removing it. I have linked the instructions and a video showing a typical installation of this hitch as well.

  • Front Mount Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2004 Toyota Tundra
For a front mount hitch for your 2004 Toyota Tundra, there are 2 options, see link. Both of them are going to require drilling, trimming, and/or removal of the skid plate for the hitches to fit properly. I would go with the Draw-Tite hitch, # 65031 because it has a high vertical line pull at 500 pounds. Vertical line pull is like the tongue weight rating on a hitch that would be on the back of the vehicle. It is the amount of downward force the hitch can handle. Though the hitch can handle...

  • Recommended Front Mounted Hitch for 2005 Toyota Sequoia
For your 2005 Toyota Sequoia we do have a confirmed fit for your vehicle. I recommend the Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 65031 which will also fit the same model year Tundra. I've attached a video of that installation to assist and have linked the installation details as well.

  • Availability of Winch Mounting Tray for 2002 Toyota Tundra
Since we don't have any winch mounting trays that attach to the front of your 2002 Toyota Tundra the best option, we have would be a front hitch like the Draw Tite part # 65031 and then using a winch mounting plate like the # BDW20011. The hitch would not require any welding for installation.

  • Can I Use a Hitch Extender to Carry Two Bikes on 2000 Toyota Tundra with Sunlite Popup Truck Camper
Using a hitch extender like # HE18 on a 2-inch hitch will will extend your receiver by 18 inches when measured from the center of the hitch pin hole in the receiver to the pin hole in the extender. The downside is it will reduce your trailer hitch tongue capacity by 50 percent. So if your trailer hitch is rated for 500 pounds of vertical load, you will only be able to load 250 pounds on the hitch. You will need to take the weight of the rack, the adapter/extender and the bikes into consideration...

  • How To Carry a 100 Lb Kayak on a 2006 Toyota Tundra While Towing
In order to carry a kayak on your 2006 Toyota Tundra while towing a trailer I recommend the Darby Extend-A-Truck Kayak Carrier part # DTA944-968-924 which evenly distributes the weight of the kayak across both the roof of your vehicle and the hitch receiver. Now, the Darby Extend-A-Truck Kayak Carrier can be used in one of two ways. The load extender can be used on the rear and still allow you to tow your trailer if you used a multi-purpose ball mount like the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount...

  • Is Drilling Required to Install a Front Mount Trailer Hitch on a 2006 Toyota Tundra
When installing the CURT Front Mount Receiver, # 31180, on a 2006 Toyota Tundra, you will need to drill a total of two 1/2 inch holes. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. The other hitch we have for your truck, # 65031, also requires drilling. I have included a link to the instructions for this hitch as well and a link to a video showing a typical installation.
