Why Blinkers Stop Flashing When Brakes Are Applied On 2005 Ram 3500
Updated 05/09/2024 | Published 08/20/2019 >
Question:
I recently installed a flatbed on my 04 Ram 3500. I replaced all bed lights with LEDs. I installed load resistors on each circuit left side running, left side stop/turn signal, right side running, right side stop/turn signal, reverse lights, license plate lights. All lights work as they should except when the blinkers are on and I apply the brakes, the blinkers stop flashing. Any ideas?

Ram trucks made in years including your model have separate brake light and blinker circuits that can't be combined without a converter. What you need is a signal converter to combine the turn signal and stop signal so they can work together on the same bulb.
Three wire systems use a separate wire to carry the brake signal. Two wire systems have the brake and turn signals sent along the same wire. Using a converter like # RM-732 takes separate brake and turn signals and combines them so that the brake and turn signals are on the same circuit.
Wire your separate turn signals to the input side of the box and then on the output side the signals will match what your truck needs.

I tried this converter for my 2005 Dodge 3500 flatbed and the blinkers work fine but the brake lights don’t come on when applied. What do you think is wrong?
