Specs:
This heavy-duty, swivel-bottom rod holder lets your rod turn to the left or right to follow a fish that's taken the bait. Its 12" length, strong stainless steel construction, and extra-large mounting flange can endure the strain of a hefty tuna or a speedy wahoo. The straight angle takes up less room under the gunwale than a rod holder with a 15-, 20-, or 30-degree angle. When mounted in a flat gunwale, the straight holder will hold your fishing rod in a vertical position.
This rod holder has a precision-machined, cast swivel gimbal cup in the bottom that rotates a full 360 degrees in either direction, allowing your rod to turn in the direction that the line is pulled when you get a big bite. This reduces the risk of your line breaking and the fish getting away. It is also ideal for high-speed trolling when using a rod with a bent butt. And, thanks to this swivel holder's sturdy 1/4" wide x 5/8" tall gimbal bar, your rod won't spin independently of the swivel cup.
The swivel gimbal cup remains stationary until it is triggered by the adjustable, smooth-release clutch. The clutch will activate when a certain amount of pressure is placed on your fishing rod to turn. This occurs when a fish pulls your line with enough intensity to pull your rod in a different direction. The clutch releases smoothly so the swivel cup, and your rod, turn to follow the line without jerking. You can adjust the amount of pressure it takes to activate the clutch by tightening or loosening the threaded nut on the bottom of the rod holder.
Sturdy, Rustproof Stainless Steel Construction
This heavy-duty, 1.2-mm-thick rod holder is made with 316L stainless steel, which is highly resistant to corrosion and rust, even when exposed to saltwater. The exterior is polished to create a mirror-like shine that makes an attractive addition to any boat.
The 5-1/8" long x 4-1/4" wide flange is welded to the tube to create a strong connection, and it has a sleek, low-profile design that allows it to sit flush against the gunwale so it won't snag your line. For added strength, use a backing plate (CE53683A - sold separately) with this rod holder to reinforce the mounting area.
A small hole in the bottom of the holder lets water drain out instead of pooling inside. A protective, UV-resistant vinyl liner sits inside the holder to help keep your rod free of scratches and scuffs.
Installation requires that a 2-1/4" diameter hole be cut into your boat's gunwale to fit the holder. The holder will drop into this hole and then secure flush to your boat with (3) 1/4" bolts or screws (not included).

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this heavy-duty, stainless steel, flush mount fishing rod holder with the swivel bottom. Now, this is a nice heavy-duty, flush mounted, swivel bottom rod holder, it's designed to hold up to one 130 pound class fishing pole, so this is ideal for high speed trolling. It does use a single-piece precision machine swivel gimbal cup at the bottom, which allows your rod to turn in the holder to help reduce any line breakage. Just to show you what we're talking about, popped up an insert there, that's what that gimbal cup looks like, and if you look down at the very bottom, you might be able to see the top of it right there. That is at the bottom here, it gives you a 360 degree rotation in either direction, and the gimbal bar you can see that goes across from one side to the other, this will help keep your rod from spinning independently of the swivel cup.
At the bottom, you can see this nut here, this is an adjustable resistant clutch, let you control the amount of pressure that's needed to turn that swivel gimbal cup. It is smooth releasing, so it won't jerk your rod. Basically, you just put a wrench on there and you can turn that to either loosen it or tighten it, depending on the resistance you need. This holder does mount into your boat's gunwale, it requires that a 2 1/4 inch diameter hole to be cut into the gunwale that this will fit into, and then you attach it right up to the top here, you can see the three holes, it attaches with three 1/4 inch bolts or screws. Now, the hardware to install this is not included, you would have to supply that.
When this is installed, it gives you a straight angle, so it's great for gunwales with limited clearance, requires less space under the gunwale. It is a heavy-duty 316L stainless steel construction, which is rustproof, corrosion resistant. You can see it has a nice polished mirror finish, so it looks good on the boat when it's installed. Has a nice, wide, low-profile flange, and it is welded to the tube for durability. The mounting flange itself, dimension on that, you can see is gonna be 4 1/4 inches by about 5 1/8 inches.
At the very bottom, we mentioned that cup, if you noticed, there is a hole right here, and that is a drain hole, keeps water from pooling on the inside. This does have a nice vinyl lining on the inside, protects your rod from scratches and scuffs. Total length of this, if we put a ruler on it, to the very top is gonna be about 11 1/2 inches. The tube inner diameter, which is the portion right here, that is gonna be right at about 1 7/8 inches. And we mentioned the outer diameter, this portion here, is 2 1/4 inches.
But that should do it for the review on this heavy-duty, stainless steel, flush mount fishing rod holder with the swivel bottom..
