Video Transcript for Snap-Loc Horizontal and Vertical E-Track Review

AJ: What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be checking out the Snap-Loc Horizontal and Vertical E-Track. You can already see how different it is right away from the other E Tracks. Usually you just got single slots going down. Now you have two slots that are going to be horizontal and two vertical, and it repeats all the way down. That way it gives you plenty of options to tie down your gear if you need your straps like this, or if you need them like this.So why is it so important that you have both directions in one E-Track Well, one it'll clean up your trailer.

You won't need to add as many tracks on each position, but just take a look at this existing one we had here. These are all horizontal, which -is fine, and you can still tie down stuff. But if we come up here to see our Snap-Loc E-Track, we're not using them. We're using the vertical one here so that we have the strap come straight across and pull right down flat across the top of this generator. We would be able to do it with the horizontal ones, too, but then you'd have a twist in the strap to get it across here straight.

And that's just going to wear your straps down over time. You see, now right next to it, we have another generator tied down and we did need the horizontal lock-in. So we put it in there, brought it across the top, nice and tight, and it's holding it down. But at the same time, we're coming to the side using the horizontals to go up and across and around and pull tight and flat across the body of the generator, which means it's not moving this way. It's not going up and down. It's nice and secure. And the double up on the slots is actually really helpful.

And see, I can put two tie-down points right next to each other so theoretically, if you wanted to set it up, we could put just this one E-Track in the center of this trailer. And let's say we had some dirt bikes or motorcycles. So you can go on each side of the track. Let's say this is the center, each side here and use the same space. And then we have tie-down points for both of those bikes.

Instead of having two different E-Tracks, you just have one strip down the middle of your trailer. So we talked about why it's useful. Let's talk about how it's made. I will say right out of the gate, when we picked it up to go install it, and I was messing with the E-Track, it was really heavy. So it's a good, heavy steel, galvanized steel actually is what it's made out of, and it felt super durable, better than the other E-Tracks I've messed with. Those we're all really light, which those are going to hold up fine. But the heaviness is one impressed me making me think, oh, when I use a ratchet strap and I go crank things down like the generator, I don't have to worry about it ever bending the galvanized steel or anything. That's not going to happen. It's heavy duty. It's going to hold up.Another thing for you to think about is every trailer is different. So do you have the space for them Where are you going to put them Let's get some measurements to figure out how big this is, so you can see where it'll fit. So from top to bottom, 32 inches, and across you got five inches across. So that's about how big it is. So maybe it helps you where you're going to put it in your trailer. And if it will fit in that spot you'll need it to. The good thing about it is you can buy a couple of these, like I said, and how versatile it is. You don't need four tracks. You can just use one in the middle or just two, and you can use any different version of it you want. So you don't have to have a bunch of track all the floor. Now with the galvanized steel, I want to know how tough it is, what's the working load limit. It's 2,000 pounds and I'm going to pull on it and show you. It's not going anywhere. With all the hardware in there and outside of the trailer, I can't get it to budge. It also has a break weight limit of 6,000 pounds. So that's just in case the worst happens. But I would always go with the lower number, the 2,000, because that's the safe working load limit. That's what you should be using it for. 6,000 is not what you want to count on .Another thing I really like about this E-Track system is that it's on the floor, plenty of tie-on points. If you mount on the wall, you can get tool holders. You can get a shelf holder where you can hook it in there, build a shelf with those clamps that you can just take out and remove you don't need it. There's all kinds of options, a bunch of different accessories for pretty much any use you have. One other thing I was impressed with, we went to go install it, you can order hardware from them and they'll send it to you with the E-Track. The other ones you have to go to the hardware store, figure out what hardware you need, try and figure it out, come back and then install it. This way you can order it all at the same time, have it go to your house and get it installed.Speaking of installation, let's see how we did it. So here's the plan. We already installed this side. I'm going to show you how we install this side. Now looking at where this existing E-Track is, I'm going to line up our new one with it, but trying to stay along the sub-frame as well. So I'm seeing where the screws are already installed, which match the screws in the floor here, which would mean the sub-frame's underneath that. So I'm going to try and follow that pattern. That way we know it's secure and then come back with some wood screws and fill in some of the holes. So first up, we got it kind of easy because we have existing E-Track that we can line up. We don't have to measure all of it out, but you want to make sure that you do that if you're starting from scratch. We're going to use self-tappers to get started and put them down into sub-frame. All right. So now that we have the self-tappers in there, I'm going to go back with wood screws and I'm going to go halfway in between the self-tappers I got there. Now the more you put in, the better the weight capacity is going to be, but since we're just showing it to you, I'm just going to put a couple in each side down the E-Track. We're going to about the middle. That looks good there, and just run our wood screw down. You can see it pull down on the E-Track as I tighten it, which is exactly what we want. Just adds that little bit more reinforcement. Now I do suggest if you are installing on the floor that you use a backing plate or use washers and some nuts on the bottom side to make sure it holds it in there nice and tight, because you're going to be strapping down some heavy stuff and you want it to stay there. You see how easy it was to install, not a big deal. I think most of it, and most of the issues are going to come from how you want it set up for what you're going to put in your trailer. So you're going to set up differently if you're pulling four wheelers, whether you're pulling motorcycles in, or if you're just using a strap down cargo, that's kind of up to you and your trailer. So if you can just figure that out, line them out on the floor and the walls the way you want, and then you just run some screws in and you're done like you saw me do.Well, thanks for hanging out. And I hope this helped.
