Install this splice-in 7-way, RV-style trailer connector on your vehicle with a multiplex or PWM wiring system. ModuLite draws power directly from the battery to avoid overloading your vehicle's circuits. Brake controller wiring harness included.

Specs:
A ModuLite power module is built into this wiring harness. Depending on the wiring system of your vehicle, its wiring may need to be converted to be compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Worked and every necessary part was included. It would however be a bit easer if there was a disconnect between the exterior and interior wiring. This would make it much easer to install and also allow use of the grommet provided for the OEM wiring harness which is much easer to get to.
This kit was a great way for me to install a 7 pin set-up on my Sienna minivan that didn't have a custom kit available for it. At the time of purchase it was a relatively new kit to etrailer, and I had been told by etrailer that the only way to get a 7 pin on my sienna was to install a 4 pin first then an adapter (the etrailer rep. had no previous experience with this kit). By using this kit I avoided having to install the 4 pin harness first followed by the 7 pin adapter. It took me a while to find, but this kit did the trick. It's probably a little more difficult to install due to it not having custom, vehicle specific, fittings, but it's doable. I was able to find on line diagrams from toyota describing how to run a wiring harness inside of the vehicle (under the panels so there are no lines run under the body of the car). This worked out really well, and I was even able to figure out where a reverse light wire was to get that signal (seems to be commonly left out when wiring harnesses and trailers). Overall, this kit is what I needed at the time, and worked out really well (also, just checked, and there is still no custom 7 pin adapter for the Sienna on etrailer)
My only complaint with the harness kit is that the wiring supplied doesn't include a thick enough 12v trailer positive line to support vehicle charging of a trailer battery when driving. If I remember correctly, 8 gauge is what was recommended for a vehicle battery to trailer run. The harness ships with a length of 12/3 wire which I swapped for 12/2 plus 8/1 wires.
That combination, combined with CTEK40186 meant that my battery was typically charged whenever we arrived at the next spot we were going to.
One other concern I had with this kit was that my vehicle would draw power from my trailer through the 12v trailer power line, blowing the fuse any time I started my van with the trailer hooked up. I ended up adding a solenoid switch to the line so that the line wouldn't be connected during ignition. Apparently, CTEK40186, will also prevent this, but I wasn't positive, and the solenoid was a relatively easy addition - not to mention it keeps my trailer battery from charging when the van is connected to the trailer, but off.
I installed this kit in my '69 F-100 about a year ago and is still working well with no issues. The components are high quality and the directions are reasonably clear.
My only complaint is that the main harness running to the rear bumper was WAY too short. I had to purchase separately about 10 feet of heavy duty 7 way electrical trailer wire and splice it in (14 connections total). This was time consuming since I soldered and heat shrunk the connections. What would've worked better would be to supply the harness in two segments with about 20 feet of wire and let the installer cut to length and have the single splice be inside the cab. They also supplied far too much cable to go to the battery - not sure what vehicle they based their wire lengths on but it couldn't have been a truck (maybe a motorcycle with a remote mounted battery in a trailer LOL).
Anyway - like the product and would install this again if needed.
Works great!
Thank you Steve at etrailer! Your expert knowledge and timely service exceeded all my expectations. I will recommend etrailer and all the products offered to everyone I know. Thanks again!
My only issue was the installation, due to the complexity of the kit my installation fees were very high. This is not a plug and go item!
Service was excellent Katherine was super helpful and patient helping me. The merchandise arrived quickly. My new “go to “
This is not straight forward or the right part for a 2023 Palisade. Then cannot return after spending 60 days trying to figure it out. I would leave it to the experts. Same issue with my other car trying to get to 7 pin from 4 pole.
