Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today, we're gonna take a look at this Curt Class 5 Universal Weld-On Receiver Hitch. This weld-on universal hitch with the 2 1/2 inch receiver tube opening is designed for use on 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, and one ton pickup trucks, including service body and utility body trucks, and it is a great hitch to use for towing a variety of heavy-duty trailers, such as toy haulers, dump trailers, logging trailers, gravity boxes, and small dock trailers. Weld-on hitches offer a high weight carrying capacity and a reliable towing solution when these are installed properly. Now, this hitch will fit frames from 18 inches all the way up to 62 inches wide, and it's designed to be welded directly onto the frame using these 1/4 inch thick side plates that are going to provide an 18 inch drop from the vehicle's frame. And these adjustable plates are going to slide along the hitch body to match exactly the width of your vehicle's frame before being welded to the hitch itself and to the frame of your vehicle. Now, all welding surfaces must be cleaned to the bare metal or the weld will not be the required strength and it may void the warranty, and it is also recommended to have a qualified welder weld this hitch on.
The overall dimensions of these plates are gonna be 18 1/2 inches long by 9 1/8 inches wide, and the cross tube itself is going to be 62 inches wide. This is made in the USA of carbon steel, and it has a gross trailer weight capacity of 20,000 pounds with a tongue weight rating of 2,000 pounds, but you do wanna make sure that you never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component. This features a durable black powder coat finish, and again, this is a Class 5 hitch, it is very heavy-duty, and it has this 2 1/2 inch receiver opening with these safety chain hookups, and from the top of the hitch tube to the bottom of the safety chain hookup plate, it's gonna be about 5 1/8 inches tall. The instruction sheet is included, and that is going to conclude our look today, I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me..
