This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area. The specific location for your vehicle is indicated in the included instructions.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector - C55336

Average Customer Rating:  4.9 out of 5 stars   (345 Customer Reviews)

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. Connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting, splicing or tapping required. Converter is made using SMT to ensure superior performance.

About the easiest job of wiring a trailer harness I have ever seen. Took a while to find the factory plug-in point, as it was taped up with the other wires, but it worked great and conceals easily.

Harness is well built and works as expected, but the directions for getting to the factory connector location (2005 Honda CR-V) could use some improvement. Even with experience in vehicle trim and wiring, I found the directions too vague to guide me to the exact location of the connector.

Easy install following video. Plugged into existing wiring harness under panel near stow away.

Excellent value. Not just the equipment, but information available. I especially appreciated the instructions as a tip to tap the old clogged threads turned out to make what would have been a challenging install (from trying to force a bolt into coated/clogged welded on nuts) simple and quick.

Good product and easy to install.

Installed on a 2006 Honda CR-V. The Honda connector is taped to the wiring at the left taillight and is a relative pain to get to. The instruction sheet shows everything except the 12vdc outlet that has to be pulled out so the plastic cover can be moved aside. That outlet just press fits into the plastic, so pull straight out. When the converter was checked with an LED tester I noticed that the stop/turn LEDs dimmed when the taillights were on. So I built a "real" tester from 1157 bulbs, sockets, and a trailer side connector to match my trailer's system. It did not work at all!! Turns out this converter needs voltage higher than 12vdc to work, so with the car running at 14vdc it was fine. Turned the car off and tested as the voltage dropped back to 12vdc. Worked at first, then one side stopped, then the other. Makes me concerned with how this will work during the daytime when the Honda ELD keeps the alternator turned off. May have to drive with lights ON to make the ELD boost the voltage.

2003 Honda Pilot

Thank you for the informative video instructions as well as helpful / honest reviews to research prior to making the purchase. I do not have anything to add that has not been covered in the reviews. Here is a recap of my experience that has been consistent with others.

1. Box was received with the driver side of the hitch pushed out. Only minor scratches which you can not see when installed and it did not impact the installation. Wrapping each end would probably be a good idea as stated in other reviews.

2. Removing 14 years of rust was the hardest part of the install (from the passenger side holes). Total time was approximately 1 hour as others have experienced. I used the bolts from the factory tie hook to work out the rust using 1/2" round wire brush attached to a cordless drill along with a full can of WD-40.

3. Installation of the hitch took about 30 minutes with assistance of a foot stool.

4. Plug-n-play electrical connector took about 10 minutes after watching the video.

5. Perfect fitment, fast delivery, easy website ordering experience and follow-up status notifications, and I can not be more pleased with the cost being under $200 for a DIY project.

I required this setup to tow a ~1,000 lb motorcycle trailer with a ~1,000 lb motorcycle next week and my Honda has a 3,500 lb towing capacity.

Thank you!

1999 Honda CR-V

Installation was very easy, and it seems to work well. However, I was pulled over one night because my running lights on the trailer were not working. Later testing, it appears that the wiring has signal for brake and turn signals, but does not gently illuminate the trailer lights when the headlights are on, which is something you are supposed to have when driving past dark, and are recommended anytime you tow.

Id recommend closely examining the running lamp circuit on the trailer itself. Look for loose connections or poor ground connections. You can find additional troubleshooting strategies in the article Ive linked.

2008 Honda Pilot

Fit well. Towed everything we needed. Now we can use it to hold a rack for extra storage on day trips

2003 Honda CR-V

Great experience! The website was easy to use and my receiver hitch showed up when I was told it would and it was very easy to install. I had never installed a receiver hitch before but after watching etrailers video on [online] it only took me about an hour to do by myself. Thank for all the help etrailer!

Honda Pilot

Installing this hitch on my Pilot was SUPER easy. It took me less than an hour from the moment UPS dropped it off! Although it was recommended to lower the tailpipe, I was able to get the hitch in there without needing too. Thanks for the clear video on how to install the hitch and wiring harness.

2006 Acura MDX

Wiring harness installation was very easy.
I had a service shop install the hitch and they managed to break off the resonator muffler when doing the installation. Took it to a shop that did welding and it was an easy repair.

2005 Honda Pilot

The tow hitch receiver fits perfectly and looks great also intalled the wiring and its perfect
I am very pleased with the product and shiping was fast. Thanks a lot etrailer!!

Easy to install and worked perfectly.

good product. I recommend doing business with Etrailer. Good people. They even answer the phone and advise you with knowledge! Rare these days.

This made the trailer hitch installation complete and was so quick and easy to install! It took less than 15 minutes.

After using for one year I have had no issues and would recommend to anyone thats wants a reliable and easy to install wiring harness.

Works great fits like a glove it's a great Plug and Play trailer wire harness for my 2003 honda element

Plugs right in no wires to cut and splice it only took a couple minutes to install

Easy to install. Works great

2001 Honda CR-V

fit exactly in my Honda crv

Installation was fairly easy. Some panel removal was required, but that was the only difficult part. Took maybe an hour or so to install, test, and put everything back. Worked great for my occasional towing needs.

2008 Honda Pilot

The trailer hitch and electric plug was delivered on time. The parts bolted up without any issues. I haven’t gotten a 2inch ball starter to insert into the hitch. So far I’m well please.

1999 Honda CR-V

I bought the class 3 hitch and wiring harness for my 99 crv. I had watched the installation video before receiving the parts and it seemed pretty straightforward. When it arrived, I installed it during my lunch in 35 minutes and the fit and finish looks factory! The next day during lunch installed the wiring harness in about 20 minutes. It uses the factory connector and tucks away invisible untill you need it. I am THRILLED with the product and looking forward to using it. The car is rated for a 1000 lbs towing and the hitch is overkill, but I already had the 2" insert and ball and the price is the same as a lighter duty hitch. To me it seems the best deal on the market.

Thank you for your interest in my satisfaction! I find it hard to believe you can follow up on every purchase made online but I feel good that you are asking for my opinion.Let me assure you that I am completely, 100 satisfied with the Curt hitch and wiring harness that I bought. It was a piece of cake to install ok, Im a mechanic and it is probably stronger than the car I installed it on. I have pulled my trailer with complete confidence and am delighted in the products you offer.Thank you!

2007 Honda Pilot

Every thing bolted on and wired harness was perfect. I would definitely use e trailer again. Thank you for your attention to detail.

Great hitch! Easy to install and has held up great over the last year. I use it quite often to tow my 4 wheeler and tractor. Great price for a well made hitch. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great hitch.

  • Compatibility of Curt T-Connector for 2006 Acura MDX with Wishbone Trailer Connector on Trailer
If your trailer uses a 4-pin connector that has five wires leading to it, your trailer uses what is called a wishbone harness. The running light circuit separates at the connector (rather than separating further down the line) with one leg running down each side of the trailer. The Curt T-Connector # C55336 for the Acura MDX will work great with this type of trailer connector, as long as it is indeed a 4-pin connector. No adapter will be necessary.
