Is There A Brake Actuator That Works With Disc Brakes On AlumaCraft Boat Trailer?

Updated 08/15/2025 | Published 07/21/2025

Question:

I just swapped my trailer brakes to discs and need a new actuator. Will the DA75 work for a 3inch tongue and 2inch ball on my 18’ Alumacraft boat trailer?

Jeremy, you’re spot on.

The new Demco DA75 # DM33CV is a great fit for that setup; it’s designed for a 3 inch channel tongue, uses a 2 inch ball, and is rated for up to 7,500 lbs GTW. Plus, its zinc finish holds up really well in freshwater and saltwater environments, perfect for your Alumcraft boat trailer.

Just be sure your brakes are truly disc brakes and not drum, it won't work with drum setups. Disc requires higher pressure.
If you aren't sure, send me a photo of your brakes and I'll help you determine which ones you have. But basically the disc brakes will have a caliper and disc as you can see in the attached photo. :)
