The Curt C45785 1.25 inch to 2 inch hitch adapter seems well-constructed, but does NOT fit the current SPA Volvo OEM 1.25 inch automatic retractable hitch receptacle (mine is on a 2020 V60 Cross country). The lock pin hole doesn't go back far enough to accommodate the pin -- see photo.

The quality of the hitch adapter looks great and very stout.

2” or 4” up/down is the solution I needed for a flat tow, 4” lower drop and a 2 bike rack, 2” rise. Very well constructed and looking for years of service out of this drop/rise combination!

Wanted to be able to combine tow hitch and bike hitch. This required a 2" drop and a 4" rise with a 10K lb capability. Etrailer.com came thru with product, price, special free shipping, and great customer service. Ordered on Sun and received on Wed and installed on Thur and ready to go!

I purchase this to use with a Thule bike rack. The Thule rack requires a 2-in receiver so this should have worked. However it's so shaky and loose that I didn't feel comfortable driving it down the street. I should have returned it but I went back to using another vehicle I have with a 2-in receiver.

Hitch pin hole was too far up the shaft and couldn't lock into the receiver. Had to return.

Perfect fit to extend the hitch to allow my bike rack to clear the back bumper. Great quality as well.

This hitch extension was exactly what I needed. New hitch on the Toyota Avalon has the receiver box a little too far under the bumper to fit my bike carrier. The diagonal support on the carrier didn't allow hitch pins to align without modifying (cutting) bumper. This extension was a simple yet effective solution to moving the carrier away from rear of vehicle. (Photos were taken without hitch pin in place) The item was in stock and shipped rapidly. It worked, till it didn't. It's a short smaller tube inside a larger tube, only held together by two spot welds. The spot welds split/detached allowing the inner sleeve free movement! I have a bike w stinger expanded to grip the inner tube and a little safety catch on outside. The safety catch was the only thing keeping my rack from sliding completely off! For the price this should've been a solid milled piece. Don't rely on these welds unless you have two through hitch pins one on car and one through the adapter end.

Based on an initial fit, the bike rack stinger is a bit loose in the reducer. If tightening the threaded pin does not reduce the wobble, I can add some shims since I intend to keep the reducer mounted on the bike rack. The reducer is an easy fit into the 2" receiver - the Quiet Hitch removed any movement.

The product is 5 star, packaging and shipping is a 0. I am not sure how this hitch extender ever made it to my residence due to the lack of proper packaging (see photo.) When the package arrived, I did not need to open the box, I only had to reach throught the hole and pull it out. This is not the first time I've had issues with etrailer packaging. When I ordered the extender, the screen showed I would receive it Saturday. Received it 3 days later.

I use this on my Yamaha Kodiak 700 and it works great with my cargo carrier. I needed an extender in order for the carrier to not rub against the back tires. No complaints.

I ordered this adapter from e-Trailer so I could extend my bike rack past my spare tire on my 2005 Honda CRV. This solved my problem and this thing is well made to take the weight. I have a Can Am Defender and the actual hitch is up under the back end so when I hooked up a trailer, I couldn't raise or lower the trailer without the crank handle hitting the tail gate, now I have plenty clearance and I love it.

Used the Malone 2" Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver to have a bike rack with two bikes on the upper Receiver and a 21' bassboat on the lower Receiver. Ran down to Florida Everglades, Florida Keys and back home. Almost exactly 4,000 miles. Hitch worked perfectly. I did find that you can not "jacknife" the boat as much or the bow of the boat will touch the bikes on the rack but that is to be expected. Hitch was quiet, strong and exceeded my expectations. Easy to install and looking forward to using it again in a month for another 4,000 mile road trip. Note: I drive fast and the roads are not always perfect. This is a sturdy Hitch Receiver. Hope this review helps you. Sorry, crummy photo as the Receiver is a "set it and forget it" product. Be well.

I recently had a hitch installed on my car. Since the cargo carrier that I have was used previously without an adapter, I assumed that I didn't need one. Now trying to locate one was more of an effort than locating a hitch. The local auto parts stores of national brands don't keep them in stock. One store made an inquiry but didn't give me much hope. Now I can make a rode trip in confidence that the carrier will be secure as I head down the interstate.

This is a much higher quality (thick and heavy) than I imagined it would be; I'm pleasantly surprised. I'll be using it to mount a trailer hitch cargo carrier and a dog step at the same time when we go on long vacations.

The hitch has held up over Alaskan roads towing a jeep, but it does not sit level in the receiver so the tiny little bit that it sags is exaggerated when the tow bar is connected. Paint starting to peel with wear after a year.

Worked out great for my family bike adventure. Traveled with that setup over 1000 miles and it was easy drive. I had cargo carrier on the bottom and bike rack on top, and with that setup and 4 people on board still plenty of ground clearance 11". Dual hitch is a solid piece of steel that can carry a lot of lbs. Just don't overload max. tong weight, need some room for safety!

I use the extender on my bike rack so I can access my tailgate and truck bed with the rack on. It does what it supposed to do and looks barely used although I travel to trails twice a week.
