Features to know about

Keeps Your Trailer Level: 4" Rise or 6" Drop

Getting the height right between your tow vehicle and trailer makes all the difference. This mount gives you both a 4" rise and a 6" drop, so you can keep your trailer level whether it sits higher or lower than the hitch. A level setup helps prevent sway and uneven load handling, giving you smoother, steadier towing every time.

Curt Ball Mount for 2-inch trailer hitches with solid steel shank and black gloss powder-coat finish, shown on white background

Gives You Extra Clearance: 14-1/4" Long Shank

When you need more room between your bumper and trailer coupler, this ball mount’s 14-1/4" length from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole does the job. That extra reach helps with tailgate clearance, spare tires, or accessories like mud flaps and Rock Tamers. It’s a simple way to get more working space without adding adapters that cut capacity.

Curt Ball Mount with extended solid steel shank and black gloss finish designed for 2-inch trailer hitches

Built to Handle Real Loads: 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW

This solid steel mount is rated for a 6,000-lb gross towing weight and 600-lb tongue weight, covering most utility, boat, or small camper trailers. The fixed design keeps it steady under load without extra parts that can loosen or rattle. It’s dependable gear for people who tow regularly and just want their setup to work.

Stays Looking Good: Gloss Black Powder Coat Finish

Towing gear takes abuse from rain, salt, and road grime. The black gloss powder coat on this mount keeps rust at bay while still looking clean after long trips. The CNC-machined shank and smooth finish show careful manufacturing that holds up over time.

Simple and Straightforward: Fits 2" Receivers with 1" Ball Hole

The shank slides into any standard 2" x 2" hitch receiver, and the ball platform accepts a hitch ball with a 1" diameter shank (ball sold separately). Secure it with a standard 5/8" pin or lock, and you’re ready to tow. No complicated adjustments—just solid steel doing its job every time you hitch up.

The length of this hitch is great. I can finally open the tailgate of my truck when the trailer is hooked up even if it only clears the tailgate by about 1/2 inch. I couldn't find another hitch long enough to allow that

Glad we could help, Chris! It's definitely nice being able to open the tailgate when a trailer is hooked up. We get that complaint quite often. What kind of trailer are you towing? Looks like a utility trailer.

by:
Well made and exactly what I needed to haul my 3000lb. travel trailer. Delivered quickly and I appreciated the detailed updates about my order as it was processed and shipped. The extra length of the mount allows my SUV liftgate to clear the trailer jack and open all the way. 4" rise ball mounts are not easy to find and I'm pleased to have found one at a reasonable price.
by:
The Extra Long Ball Mount proved useful immediately upon receipt. Delivery was prompt, and the updates from etrailer.com helped plan transport of several bicycles, simultaneously with a camper trailer. The extended length facilitated use with a Swagman bicycle rack, also purchased via etrailer.com. The product arrived in excellent condition, with correct capacity rating, and works perfectly, and in conjunction with the bicycle rack. I recommend purchases from etrailer.

This slightly longer than average bar was perfect for my application. The drop length was perfect also for the application. As usual, eTrailer's site and retail experience was first rate. Lots of info and specs (and videos) available makes it easier to get that piece of mind knowing that what you needed was what you ordered.

I no longer have the trailer or need for this draw bar. Regardless, it worked perfectly and it is stored safely away for future needs as they arise.

Product is exactly as described on the etrailer.com website and measurements
and dimensions fit perfect. Easy phone order process and prompt delivery,
standard shipping arrived 3 business days after the order was placed. The
extra long version of the ball mount makes it perfect for me to put on the
bike rack while towing my horses

I ordered the Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 4" Rise, 6" Drop - 14-1/4" Long - 6,000 lbs, and the 1-7/8" Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter x 2-1/8" Long Shank - Chrome - 2,000 lbs.

Purpose was to raise the back of our 2005 Mercury hitch to better pull our home built kayak trailer. I was looking to get a better leveling position of the trailer. This 4" rise Hitch was a long shank did the trick ! VERY IMPRESSED with sales that helped me purchase the correct product. I purchase all my tires and trailer supplies from etrailer.com .......best quality, price, and support. Thank you.

from the vehicle and this one seems to fit the bill. I tow an AT Chaser offroad trailer behind an FJ Cruiser and need a hitch bar that can take some abuse, and I'm hoping this one stands up.
by:
Perfect for my Tesla Y. Towing a Harbor Freight trailer I’m converting into a boat trailer for my inflatable boat.
by:
Fit and finish is above what I expected. If you need a class 1 or a class 2 I recommend spending a little more money and going with a class 3. You can get any size ball you need and the design is much cleaner especially if you need a high rise or low rise unit . the heavier gauge steel unit needs less intrusive back braces giving more clearance and a cleaner look.
by:
Great fit for my Jeep Willys on 35 in tires. Gets hitch ball away from spare and low enough for trailer.
by:
Exactly the ball mount that I needed for my Jeep Wrangler! With the spare tire mounted on the back, I needed a bit more extension for the ball mount in order to be sure my trailer will clear, this is exactly what I needed, works great! Thank you!

This hitch was just what I needed to pull a trailer with my Polaris Ranger 570efi
by:
I bought this because I needed the rise, not the drop. But, I only bought it after watching the instructional video on etrailer.com on how to measure for how much of a rise you need. When I pulled this out of the box, I thought "this is way too high" and that the video missed the mark. But imagine my surprise when I put it on my van after putting the ball on -- when I put the trailer on the ball, the trailer was dead level! Kudos to etrailer for putting up that video!

I've ordered from etrailer a few times and the service is just insanely good! Incredibly fast shipping, prices better than any other place online or in my area, expert advice when you need it and great information.

This has worn well, no chips in the paint unlike other ball mounts I have.

by:
I was looking for a ball mount with a long shank so that I could mount a set of mud flaps on it. The problem I had, is that I already had one of the longest ball mounts I could find, but that did not give me the clearance I needed to mount the mud flaps. etrailer is the only place I could find this extra long ball mount. This solved my problem without having to resort to costly customization. The Customer Service is excellent as well, both before and after the sale.

Still good, no issues

by:
This is almost exactly what I needed. I needed an extension to give me more clearance between the hitch ball and my Town & Country tailgate. The added length gives me just barely enough clearance as long as my vehicle and camper are on level ground. Since I couldn't afford to lose the capacity by adding an extension, I had no real option other than to buy this longer hitch.
Since it's already longer than most standard hitches, there's no reason that it couldn't be 1" or 2" inches longer. There would be little or no capacity loss by doing that.
Other than the above, it's excellent quality, doesn't rattle in the hitch receiver and does what it's supposed to do. I like etrailer, their quality, service and support. Every time I have a question, someone answers the phone and knows their products well. I could have bought this anywhere but not everyplace has this type of service.
Thanks.
by:
I tried this receiver in conjunction with a trailer I am volunteering to move once a month. This ended up being a just a little too much of a drop. I can't knock the product for that. I did work well otherwise.

I liked the elongated longer receiver bar extra distance between the receiver locking pin and the drop bar to give greater clearance when towing.
by:
Trailer hitch arrived in excellent shape and well protected. The hitch was exactly what I ordered and I am well pleased.

Great - good product

by:
I have a 1978 Chevy K10 4x4 with a 4" lift and it has a hidden receiver hitch behind the License Plate. I thought I was going to have to have a ball mount made as I needed an extra long 8" shank to clear the rear bumper and 7500lb GVW rated. etrailer.com had just what I needed and George J. shipped it the next day (Saturday) and upgraded my shipping from 5-7 days to 3-5 days delivery with no extra charge! He also followed up to make sure I received it! I received it in 4 days and I am very impressed with the quality and thickness of the materials used to make it. It is heavy duty and pulls my fully loaded tandem axle flatbed with no problem. I highly recommend their products to anyone! Thanks George!!

  • Extra Long Ball Mount Approximately 14 Inches From Center of Hitch Pin to Center of Ball Hole
We offer an Extra Long Ball Mount, # D-28, which has a 4 inch rise and a 6 inch drop. The distance from the center of the pin hole to the center of the ball hole is 14-1/4 inches. In order to maintain the structural integrity of the ball mount, making modifications like drilling a new hole is strongly discouraged and all warranties would be void.

So the correct amount of rise you'd want would be right at 4 inches like the ball mount # D-28 which also happens to be a longer ball mount so it would also not interfere with your rear bumper.
